Does anyone here cloth diaper other than myself and fuzzylogic? What do you use? What works, what doesn't? Do you prefer patterns or solids? What do you use for nighttime? Favorite diaper? Anything you want to talk about? Let's discuss!

I really need help with nighttime diapers. K is a heavy wetter. Right now we use a medium GMD prefold with two birdseye cotton flats and a cover (thirsties, blueberry, or nicki's). Her diaper soaking wet in the morning and sometimes based on how she sleeps her diaper will move down and the pee will wick onto her pajamas. I have the covers on the middle rise and I'm reluctant to move it to the largest rise. She's not that big, so what do people who have big babies or older toddlers do? I get that her nighttime diaper is ridiculous in size to begin with, but I'm worried we'll get to a point where her covers won't fit and then what?

Me! I use cloth in the daytime but I've always used a disposable for overnight so I can't help you there... sorry!
In the day I use mostly Funky Fluff pockets and Grovia ONEs for naps. I also have some prefolds and Grovia covers that I like to use and one Lalabye, which is my favourite. I have a mix of prints and solids but I have a few prints that are my absolute favourites--Grovia Holland and Tex, and Lalabye Sugar Rush are a few of them.
I just found out I'm due with baby #2 in early April, so of course I'm already thinking about my newborn diapers! I have a big newborn stash but I didn't like certain things for L, like my newborn fitted diapers that just weren't very absorbent. I'm thinking of selling/donating them and picking up some more newborn AIOs, maybe Grovia or Thirsties. But I'll be waiting a while before buying anything new.

Blueberry just had a grab bag sale for their seconds. It's a great time to get quality diapers for cheap. They should have another one soon. I got a bunch of second diapers and the only issue was that one had a mark on it, all other I couldn't tell there was any defect. We haven't used Grovia at all since it's a 2 in 1 system and I get most of my stuff of ebay and they rarely include inserts. I do like their prints though. I'm a printaholic. It's sad that sometimes the most exciting thing in my life some days is finding cute diaper prints.

She's napping now so I'll go in after that and look at her nighttime diaper array. We have two actual nighttime diapers that we use -- one is a fitted with extra doublers, one is a fleece -- and a couple others that we make into makeshift nighttime diapers (Thirstie pocket) with hemp doublers. She was a much heavier nighttime wetter but as she's nearing 2 it's getting to be less of an issue.
We have quite an array of diapers. My favorite covers are RaR because the colors are so vibrant and they fit her pretty well. Blueberry covers have more room in the butt than she would ever need. SweetPea covers are good for the nighttime fitted because they are super roomy for us. We use pre-folds and covers and some AIOs.
A lot of our AIOs are BottomBumpers, which aren't my favorite, but our local CD store had a big sale, so...we have quite a few in a lot of solids and a couple of cute prints I never saw anywhere else. H bought one Charlie Banana fleece that's pink with robots and it's fine. A couple of Thirsties velcro fleece diapers (great when we are out, so fast to put OTB). A couple of Blueberry AIOs. We have a mix of prints and solids. And a couple of BestBottom covers that I don't use often but they were LE prints that I just "had to have" but they don't fit her hips the best. They're oddly narrow for us, and she's a pretty lean kid!

We only cloth diaper in the day, since S pees a lot at night and has very sensitive skin. Even with stay dry liners if he's wet longer than an hour his skin would go nuts, but we haven't had any issues with sposies at night.
We use all in ones, because they are grandparent and husband proof. Our stash in mostly Smart Bottoms 3.1 and dream, Blueberry Simplex, Thirsties Natural and a few Grovia Hybrids with organic cotton inserts.
I am a lover of all prints, which is why we have so many Smart Bottoms because they always come out with super cute ones. I also just love SB in general, they fit S the best and seem to be the most absorbent of our stash.
When I started out, I had a lot of Bumgenious that I sold because I HATED them. When S was a newborn, did covers and prefolds with a few workhorses. I am about to the point where I may sell our thirstiest natural because I don't like the fit and I don't like laundering them, but haven't because I keep telling myself they might be good for a future baby.

sheilathetank I bought 3 orange diaper company overnight diapers and we ended up sticking with disposables overnight - send me a PM if you want to give them a try. Also if you need anything else we are done with cloth and I have 3 big bins of stuff to sell but I'm just not motivated... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wanted to try a BB diaper when they recently came out with the donut print, but the retailer I buy through wasn't offering it for some reason. Can you get grab bags through retailers or just through the BB website? I know what you mean about diaper prints though! When I bought most of my stash before L was born I had no idea that there were so many brands and that they would release new prints every few months. I love checking every new print out but I'm pretty good about not actually buying anything at this point (unless I reeeeaalllly love it lol).

birdie, I agree that SB has some of the best prints! Sadly, I don't use AIOs or I would probably have bought a lot of them. I have two SB covers that I don't love the fit of, but they were in prints I had to have (donuts and Kelvin).

I only have two and I can't send them to daycare because everyone always puts it on backwards. Even mh and my mother puts it on wrong and they are really good at cloth diapers. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have a lot of patterns. I buy a lot of diapers based on the pattern because I'm a complete consumer whore. I got my SweetPea cover because it was an otter print and "had to have" it. I really like it though as it doesn't leak and hold her enormous nighttime diaper.

Have you found this to be true with your SBs as well? We have a few Bumgenius AIOs that are good work diaper for daycare as they have held up well to repetitive use. I also have a bunch of diapers that I'm not crazy about but have held onto because "what if it fits the next child better".

Mine get sent to my spam email, which is a good thing because I love their prints and have a hard time not buying the cute new ones.

sheilathetank, BBs are definitely made for skinny-legged kids! E has skinny legs but I guess she has wider hips? The BBs fit great in the leg but they are super trim around the butt for her. To the point that she gets plumber's crack right before she sizes out lol. But they fit well under clothes, which is nice. I can see where the side snap could cause problems for others but luckily my MIL does all right with them. We won't talk about her janky pre-fold jobs she does. E is right on the verge of sizing out of her current prefolds but they can still fit, you just have to get creative. I come home after MIL is with her and the kid looks like she's ready to Sumo wrestle after I take off the cover lol.

MIL put a cover over a pocket once because she was afraid it wasn't going to work without it. I laugh every time I think about it. My mom used CD on me as a kid because I had a latex allergy and couldn't wear disposables without getting a rash around the waste. She's a pro at them and showed me all the folds. She can even put prefolds on K with pins and while standing. Her CD game is on point.

DD is potty trained and I haven't had to use diapers in a year now, but still haven't got rid of them. So lazy.
I was on a budget being single, but really loved the Kawaii overnights Heavy Wetter. They never leaked and were a really good price. I wanted lots of cute prints too, but my low budget squashed that except for all the animal prints that I got from this overseas company that donates some proceeds to orphans. They were always my favourite 😊

sheilathetank, our daycare teacher once put a cover on an AIO on E and I died laughing when I got home. That shit wasn't going to leak EVER.

Those are reasonably priced and have cute patterns... what's the catch? Every other ON diaper I see is like $50. There's one company I saw people rave about back on TCF and they were close to $50 each and they still needed a cover. lololollolol no.

sheilathetank, on a really heavy night, Ev will wake up with her pj pants damp around the edges of the diaper. But not enough that the sheets get wet. And as she's getting older she seems to be wetting a little less overnight. Otherwise...no catch. I eyeballed that "tea time" print pretty hard last night. H said immediately that we needed that. Not that he wanted it, we "needed" it lol. I still have the tab open...

I haven't read the thread. We cloth diapered, but now we only do so at nap and night because we are potty training.
My daughter was a huge heavy wetter at night. Here was my solution.
Large prefold with a newborn prefold inside. Lay fleece stay dry liner on top. Use any cover, double leg gussets are better. Put diasana wool shorts over the whole thing. Just add a t-shirt to sleep in and forgo pajama bottoms because ass will be bulky.
Works perfect.

Oh man, late on this. Both my kids are in cloth during the day but disposables at night. DS2 is still in NB blueberry simplex, but they're not absorbent enough for night time and he sleeps a good 8 hours. He doesn't fit into our OS diapers at almost 15 weeks yet... soon, hopefully, and he'll be cloth 24/7. Size 3 overnights are huge on him still, but we make do. We recently moved to disposables with DS1 at night because he soaks through a best bottom large hemp insert + hemp overnight insert + booster. He's in best bottoms during the day at home and smart bottoms 3.1s for daycare. We used BG 4.0s for over two years but started having problems with them wicking so we switched.

We did use the best bottom large microfiber overnight and regular inserts for a long time, but because it was so bulky, we had him use those with blueberry Capri size 2s. We switched out of those last fall due to him constantly leaking

Im late, but I cloth diaper 24/7. At night we do bamboo prefold, plus Geffen hemp flat, and a cotton doubler from GMs with thirsties cover. I use a flannel liner on top. No leaks. sheilathetank

For the day we usually do some type of bamboo or microfiber insert with cotton doubler on flip diapers. Oddly enough, we only use pockets on the weekends or when we go out. I'm not a fan during the day. I don't know why. We mainly stick to flips during the day.
For naps I trifold a bamboo size 1 prefold with a doubler on a flip.

When we use pockets. It's usually microfiber insert plus hemp insert. That duo is amazing. I've never had leaks when we are on the go. I use a lot of natural fibers. I find the work the best for holding in their pee pee.
