Has anyone else seen the movie yet? I went last night with my almost 11 year old and mom. We all loved it. It was so funny and had a great message. So many people dressed up in a Barbie or Ken look at the theater. If you have the chance to see it I highly recommend it.

I'm excited to see it but we are going to wait a couple weeks for the crowds to die down. I'm planning to go with my mom and girls.
I'm also waiting a bit to see reviews, since it's pg-13. My girls are 10 and 7. I'm not worried about my oldest but wondering if it's appropriate for my youngest. Why did it get the pg-13 rating?

I'm guessing the references will go over their heads, they definitely didn't get the "beach off" reference from the trailer.

I think the suggestive language would just go over a 7 year olds head along with some of the more adult jokes. I think she could still enjoy it.

My almost 13 year old DD saw it with friends and said she really liked it. She promised to see it again with me, so hopefully we will go within the next week. I don’t usually care about seeing movies in the theatre anymore and am happy to wait until they’re streaming, but this one does seem fun to see at the actual movies. My DD said she’s never seen so much pink in one place before, lol.

I loved it. I went on Friday afternoon by myself for my bday!
I haven’t decided whether to take DD (7) eventually. I was trying to think what things would prompt discussions, and what would go over her heard. I was telling a mom friend it seems similar to when I saw Grease as a kid. I didn’t understand the sexual concepts and innuendos, but loved the songs. I doubt I was 7 though when I direst watched it with my sister.

The only really awkward moment was the reference to Barbie and Ken not having genitals. They literally say “I don’t have a vagina” and “I don’t have a penis.” But that’s really the worst of it. Any of the other things would go over a 7yo kids head.

I really loved the movie. My 8 yo said she liked it but didn’t love it. It’s super well made. It’s amusing and sweet and has a great message.

I will be taking my 11 year old, but I am on the fence about my 7 year old because I’m not sure she’d enjoy it. She loves the Barbie cartoons movies that are actually for children, so I think she’d have the same expectations here.

I saw it Friday with my older two DDs and MH. It was great! I would take my 8 yo; the adult parts would go right over her head.

My 7.5 yo and almost 10 yo both loved it and want to watch it again immediately. Some stuff went over their heads for sure, but there was still so much in it that they could appreciate and enjoy.

DD and I were in Boston last week for college tours. Soooo many people there walking around dressed for Barbie. We had so much fun people watching. There were some really silly and fun outfits. And as many men as women dressing up.
We moved on to Newport, Rhode Island for the weekend. People are still dressing up but totally different vibe. Looks less thrift store and more like grandma’s pink Chanel here.
We’re headed to Providence tonight and will try to see it there ourselves. We didn’t pack anything that can pass as a Barbie outfit so I’m bummed because it looks like fun.

Just saw it tonight with my mom and my sister. Absolutely loved and we all said we would totally see it again.
My sister and I wore matching Barbie shirts 😂

I liked it a lot and do think it's fine for 7-10 year olds. We had 6 of us in our late 30's, most just wore a normal pink top and jeans but all the costumes we saw there were so over the top and fun.

I can’t wait to see this. But, is anyone else pumped for the Beanie Bubble? Feels like there will be some crossover.

We ended up going to see it today with my mom. We all loved it. I think it was fine for my 7 and 10 year olds. There were definitely things that went over their heads. We aren't "pink" people but did manage to each find a pink shirt to wear and the girls brought their Barbie and Ken too. It was fun!

Went today with all my kids, ages 8 to 14. I LOVED it and my oldest loved it. My Barbie-loving 8 and 10 year olds say they "really liked it," even though I think a lot went over their heads. They loved all the cute Barbie stuff and funny Barbie-land jokes (i.e. shower with no water coming out). I felt kind of bad for my 12 yo son during the part where the Kens are all turning into macho stereotypes and being idiots, but the overall message works out okay in the end.
So if you need or want to bring a little kid with older kids or whatever, I personally think it's 100% fine with nothing truly objectionable, but know it might get a little long/boring/confusing, maybe. My girls will feel cool that they went and overall they enjoyed it. I felt like it's WAY more innocent than many PG-13 movies. I'm not even really sure why it's PG 13!! I wouldn't go out of my way to bring only a little kid, b/c it's not geared toward their age group. As noted they might like a Barbie animated special better than going to the movie.
It was a lot of fun!!

I will say I'm a little bummed the roller blades didn't spark like a lighter like the toy ones did! I think my mom still has mine 😂

I went to see it last night with a group of women from church. We all loved it. One of the women with us is Latina and married to a white man who's constantly on Duolingo, and she got a kick out of America Ferrera's husband.
Even the more conservative mom with us said she would have taken her kids, no question. I don't think any of the references were enough to warrant a PG-13 rating. I'll probably wait a bit before showing it to DS because he'd probably think it's too long, but I think he'd like it too. He has his own Barbie collection.

I saw it last night I loved it. I teared up during the speech about how hard it is to be a woman. So many "hits home" lines and still super funny and sweet. I was surprised how much I liked it. I think I wheezed laughing at the guitar playing. We've all had that date! lol
