I don't follow sports closely so please hear me out. My niece is supposed to graduate from Sacramento State the weekend of May 18. Now her ceremonies may be postponed if the Warriors make it that far and need the arena. Is this normal for NBA playoffs/finals to displace already scheduled events? i'd say no, not normal and typically games can be scheduled around arena availability. however, contracts can vary and it could be something like **NOT SAYING THIS IS TRUE IT IS ONLY A HYPOTHETICAL** the college got a cheaper price on the space bc they were willing to be flexible or whatever. if taylor swift was scheduled to be somewhere, you better believe they'd adjust the game schedule accordingly. know what i mean? That makes sense. I'm torn because I have friends who are WarriorFans4Lyfe, and I like seeing them happy. However, these students already had a lot of disruption when the pandemic hit so just let them celebrate graduation! |

Edit: I'm hearing this second hand from my MIL who is flying to SAC just for the graduation. So ignore me if she's telling me wrong info. Is she mixing up the Warriors and Kings? Now that the Kings lost this shouldn’t be an issue. |

They can’t schedule a playoff game around other things
My guess is the school signed something of this nature which is why they are letting people know it’s a possibility and I’m sure they got a discount
I wonder if it’s a thing every year it just hasn’t come up before

The warriors wouldn’t be playing in Sacramento though. They play 100 miles away in San Francisco.
Playoffs and finals are only played in stadiums where a team involved plays.
That’s why I think the MIl is getting teams confused. If the kings advanced maybe there would have been an issue.

I forgot not everyone knows the Warriors play in the Bay Area since they are Golden State. Once when I lived in Atlanta I was at bar trivia and that was a question. I answered Oakland right away (this was before they moved) and people were like “are you sure?” I’m like - trust me - I got this.

I do have to say though some marketing teams don't help these distinctions. The Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca should not have San Francisco in its name LOL. |

And since they dicked around the Phils were like "we can get paying spectators in here for concerts soooooo" because it's their stadium and they can do what they want. Same with the Eagles and the Linc. But it's the "the pandemic took so much from them!" argument that throws me. These arenas don't fund themselves. It's business. |
