Not a fan of the new covid guidelines. So according to those I wouldn't have stayed home at all? I never had a fever and my only symptom was mild congestion.

Honestly, they need to keep the guidelines in place and add flu and RSV to it. When I had covid this year I barely felt sick. Had I not tested I would have gone to work everyday without a second though. But I was told to scram for five days. The teacher across the hall from me had the flu and was SO sick, but she was back after two days out looking like death warmed over. No policy on that one, and with limited sick time, people will show up sick. It's like we learned nothing.

Yeah the only reason I tested was because DH had it, I never would have tested otherwise because I felt fine. So I would have had no idea. And I tested positive for the full 10-11 days. And I agree we need more for flu and rsv. But employers would never go for that.

I felt zero percent bad, just a cough, so I tested as a middle finger to my husband hoping I could be all "see, I'm fine" and then it turned positive immediately, lol.

I start my second round of steroids today for this post-Covid cough that won't go the eff away. I have a referral for a chest x-ray, too.
I'm so tired of this crap.

I’m sorry It’s been 5 months since I had COVID and my asthma is still worse than it was before having it But sure let’s let people spread it even more *sigh*

This was my third time with Covid, but the easiest of the three. I had coughing that lasted months after the other two times as well, but this time around, the coughing is so much worse. Go figure, right? Thanks, AmyG. geekygirly That really sucks. I'm sorry.

Does anyone have any anecdotes on at home rapid test accuracy?
Tested DS this morning and he got a very faint positive on a binax but a negative on an ihealth. We are treating it like positive Covid (second time in five months ugh) but just curious. According to the interwebs, ihealth is slightly more sensitive. But I’m wondering if he gave me a bad sample because he was grumpy about two tests in 10 minutes.

We have had two (different occasions) very faint positives on Binax followed by multiple negative rapid tests (both Binax and iHealth) and negative PCRs. These happened after close contact exposures and once with symptoms and no medical professionals could provide any insight on WTF to make of it. Our friends have had the same experience with their kid.

He for sure has symptoms.

Test tonight was negative. So now we wait. It's so strange and inconsistent. When my kid had zero symptoms we assumed the one test was faulty. When he very much had symptoms we had to assume he had COVID but that's unnerving because that means the tests were completely unreliable.

Apparently the stomach flu is storming through my DD1's school. They specifically are telling the kids to use hand sanitizer now (which won't help with stomach flu). All the classes are paired up and alternate between 2 teachers. One of the classes have over half of the kids out with it as well as the teacher, and the class that rotates to that teacher has 6 kids out which is over 1/4 of the class.
Tomorrow is the Daddy/Daughter dance... I'm imagining a super spreader type event 😬

Since only the people here on these boards have been still doing the 5 day quarantine, this won't change anything in the spread of covid. Joke/not joke.

If I get it again I'm still going to try to stay home til 5 days after start of symptoms. My job is physically demanding and I want to be fully recovered.

Five days out, five days masked once you're back. We already knew this was the last year they planned to uphold it though. We were told back in September that this was the final year they would require it and provide us with the PTO to take it so it didn't impact our own PTO. Now everyone will just come to work sick. Like the teacher across the hall from me who came to school sick with the flu because she had been scolded for missing too many days when her young children were sick on and off all winter.

Honestly, I think everyone should get unlimited sick time (paid of course). You'd actually end up with fewer people out that way. I understand their are sub shortages for school, but again, if you don't have teachers doming in sick to pass on their germs to others.... H has a great sick time policy. It seems unlimited because he accrues it so often. And there's not much abuse of it. (Partially because unused sick time gets paid out when you retire).

And he can use it for the kids too, they're super chill about it. If you're out more than three days they do ask for a note, but even that his director is pretty easy going about. And thank goodness for this, he does like 95% of the staying home with the kids when they're sick. He can do a significant amount of his job from home too, so it's easy for him to work remote if they're sick as well. We get 12 sick days and if it wasn't for H's sick leave policy I would burn through all of my days every single year plus some unpaid ones too thanks to the kids. You're welcome for my having strep at Christmas, school district. I'll try to align my germ catching to our calendar breaks more often. My previous district would add your unused sick days to your final salary so they would get rolled into our pension. My current district offers nothing, but God forbid you burn them all in a year, you will for sure get scolded.

Teachers end up with like 200 days accrued by the time they retire then get in trouble for trying to use a bunch. Not like we get them paid out though. I've magically rolled over 2 days two years in a row. This is my fifth year in the district, so not great, lol. Damn kids, sucking up all my time off.

We can roll ours over too. I was virtual for one year so that helped me save a bunch. I think I had 22 at the start of last year. Then we all got Covid. I ended up taking 11 days for that. Then with other sick days and appointments I had 3 left at the end of the year. Taking time off stresses me out
