It’s been known he was going to announce for weeks, months, even. Since he won in 2020. Idk what people are expecting from people who get a taste of that power after an entire career working up to it.

It’s definitely ego. Clearly, I’ll vote for him but it’s not what’s best for the country. It’s about him wanting to be a two-term president. And dragging out an announcement until spring 23 isn’t great. Behind the scenes, they should have been making a plan to bring some younger Democrats to the forefront.

Honestly, I don’t know if he can beat Trump again. And I truly don’t think he will win against DeSantis. That’s what’s so maddening. White men will put their egos first and we all have to deal with the repercussions.

I don’t think it’s ego. I think it’s the sadly best option for the Dems bc our country is so fucked, sexist, and racist that MVP would never get elected and the optics of Joe not running and then MVP not being the candidate would be awful.

For me, I love Pete. If America is ready for a gay candidate, that’s a separate convo. We all know how a woman did. But, if I had my pick of who should be the next candidate, that’s my guy.

But, there are other viable people in the Democratic Party: Gavin, Cory, Gretchen, Elizabeth, Amy, Kamala. Some of them aren’t my picks, but there are options.

I WILL NOT SAY BERNIE.

I agree with you, none of them feel like it’s their time. And I think that goes back to what I said, that behind the scenes, we should have been bringing them to the spotlight, so it feels like a presidential trajectory. Much like the R’s have been doing with White Boots DeSantis.

I like all of them, but yeah none of them had a snowball's chance in hell. I adore Pete, but he'd be drowned. 

I guess I no longer can play the "I wish it were so" game w this, after Trump beating Hilary. It's just brass tacks who has the best shot, and that is Biden at this point.

Exactly. We can say oh we love Pete or Bob or Katie or whomever but the last 8 years have clearly showed us that this country won’t elect a woman, a minority (again, any time soon), an LGBTQ…. Basically anyone except a white male. So an old white Hetero male is the best option against Trump America.
