MH tested positive yesterday. I'm not surprised with air travel and hugging people at a funeral- but was not expecting it so soon.
Kids and I are negative for now so I masked them up and sent them off to school. H is isolating in the guest room, BUT shared a bed with two of the kids at various time this weekend in the hotel. So- it may still be coming for all of us.

The toddler is certainly sick with something but not turning a test yet. 😞
It’s also been less than 5 months since the last time he allegedly had COVID. 😞😞😞

My 14 yo and I both turned a test this morning. I feel like crap, but it is still so much easier (so far) than our last tango with covid.
Here's hoping it either skips my other two kids or, if they get it, they test positive soon. The 14 yo's quinceanera is a week from Saturday. She's been through enough crap; I really want this to happen for her.

leahcar what a bummer, hopefully it is quick and out of your home before the celebration. Covid is sneaky and seems to catch us when we have the most fun plans.

We are now 5/5 and also infected both of our sisters. Good grief.
At least we're all getting over it at the same time?

H, DD, and I are all basically better, though H and DD are still within the 10 day masking period and are still limiting their activities. DS didn’t get his positive until Sunday, so he’s at home doing remote school with me all week. H and I both had about 48 hours of mild fever, followed by a week of fatigue. MIL and FIL both had ~3 days of moderate flu-like symptoms before the paxlovid kicked in. I’m so glad we were all super-vaccinated before getting it. I suspect it would have been a lot worse without the bivalent booster, especially for my ILs.

Will you all be out of isolation in time for the party? Isolation ends on the party date! So - while nothing about COVID is fun, that's the best timing we're gonna get. And we can enjoy the party without worrying we're going to get COVID. All the kids have really sore throats and we all have a lot of congestion. But it really feels like nasty cold/mild flu. Both the original round of COVID in our house and the flu itself were far worse for all of us.

So DD1 turned a positive test right away last Saturday. Tested negative Tuesday morning (I wish I tested her on Sunday or Monday to know for sure) and negative again Thursday night. The rest of us (me, MH, 6yo twins) have all been negative all week too. One kid had a fever yesterday, still negative this morning.
We’re going to visit my parents for the day tomorrow (Saturday) so I’ll test us all again in the morning to be sure. When do I stop testing us? Just wait until someone has symptoms?

NY is ending their required masking in healthcare facilities as of this Sunday. Wahhhhhhh, noooo! This was one pandemic outcome I really hoped might stick. DNW to be in doctor offices or hospitals with gross unmasked people.

Both of my ILs are experiencing Paxlovid rebound, with mild flu-like symptoms and bright positive rapid tests. No terribly alarming symptoms, but they are disheartened because they thought they’d already beaten it.

Random antidote- we just got contact traced by our county. When I reported the + results to the high school, I immediately got a similar notification to what I saw last year (your student was last on campus this date and can return on this date if blah blah blah). I got no such reply for my elementary school kid and the youngest was also not on the county's list to contact trace.
MH teaches in a different district and he was also on the county's list to contact trace. I'm not on any list since I work from home and tested + at home, I guess.
I'm pleasantly surprised that a county in Texas is even still attempting anything? Would have been nice to get that call a week ago...but they're at least tracking positives, vaccination status, and symptoms.

DD2 is sick again. This is so mentally draining and exhausting on us and her. She told us she is tired of getting sick.
About 5 weeks ago she had a virus with super high fever-105. It lasted for days. Two weeks after that she had strep. Now about two weeks later she has another high fever since Thursday. Super congested and a sore throat. We are bringing her to the doctors tomorrow. Unless she is on Motrin her fever hasn’t broken yet. Although the high is 103.5 not 105 like it was yesterday and Thursday.
In the fall she had RSV and pneumonia twice.
Spring needs to come soon.

My middle child was basically sick from February to June in her first year of preK and it was so exhausting. On top of feeling bad for the sick kid, it is so hard to juggle and figure out. And it was before 2020 so I'm sure it's twice as hard for you guys now. Hang in there. She's more resilient now but she still gets sicker and for longer than her sisters. Though she's the only one who never turned a test (though light symptoms) when the rest of us had covid in early September. So maybe that's something 🤷♀️ I grasp at straws where I can sometimes.
