Amazing compilation Cher ! Thanks for putting that together. I was getting so excited with each new photo. Hands down my favorite show right now is Abbott Elementary which was created by, is written and produced by, and stars Miss Quinta Brunson. It also stars incredible Black actors in supporting roles. It’s such a smart and fresh comedy. It’s on the second season right now and has been renewed for a third. It’s on Hulu if you want to binge it. My nail tech introduced me to this show! She loves having a show on while working and this was definitely one of her better recommendations!

I'm only halfway through the Pamela doc but I feel really bad about how she was treated back in the day. Just appalling. I am rooting for her.

One thing Cher ’s list made me realize is that I know a lot about many of the men featured, but not the women. I’m especially curious if there is a respected bio or biopic (that’s “bi-o-PIC”) of Hattie McDaniel. I would love to hear about her life and work in as many of her own words as possible. Though it's not super-recent (2001), there is a really good documentary on her that you can find on Youtube. It's narrated by Whoopi. There is also a biopic in development, called Behind The Smile. I haven't seen a release date for it yet.

I didn’t know that about Lenny Kravitz’s mom. Was I the only one?

I just saw a TikTok of NFL players going up to Tom Brady after a game and he’s like a hero to them. He’s signing autographs, taking pictures and they’re telling him how great he is. He comes off like a really nice dude. He’s greeting everyone by name and telling them how good they play. He’s weird af but genuinely nice. Which is what MH always says. I feel like he should look into coaching or something because he loves the game and the players love him.

I didn’t know that about Lenny Kravitz’s mom. Was I the only one? I knew, but I also knew RR from TV before LK was famous. So when Lenny hit the scene people were "do you know who his mom is?" She's also second cousins to Al Roker.

The powers that be at the massive media conglomerate were really excited about the remake of a movie about one of their legendary rides. The problem they face now is one of the lead and her grooming/molesting scandal and whether they can send her out for a press tour.

With the proposed Netflix account-sharing changes, I may have to binge everything I can on Netflix and then log out of H's friend's account that we've been using on all our TVs and devices since March 2020.

Is he a mediocre talk show host? Yes. Does he have a bunch of liabilities because of what he and his co-star did with underage girls? Yes. Is his marriage a ticking time bomb of possible scandal? Yes. Does the network regret paying him on a five year deal? Nope. Anyone else would have cost twice as much and been a diva.

From the January thread, I am digging bald Pete. I don’t like it! He needs to wear a hat at all times until it grows back!

Timothee Chalamet This is really weird. He has proven himself to be amazingly talented. When you reach a certain level you don’t have to audition all the time.

She sounded so reflective and insightful. I was impressed. I had dinner with her after a long day of work and she was very sweet and soft spoken. She was the main player in the photo shoot but did not ask for any special treatment or anything like that. She could have easily been tired and rude after a two day shoot, and she wasn't. She's also very tiny and demure IRL.

There’s a really fascinating documentary on Sidney Poitier on Apple+. I think it’s just called Sidney. Oprah produced(?) it, I think — they were friends. And his family features in it. It did a great job putting his achievements in a historical context, and also giving a nuanced look at some of the conflicts within the civil rights movement. (For example, his falling out and reconciliation with Harry Belafonte over their differing views on the direction of the movement after MLK’s assassination.) Sidney tells a completely chilling story about being chased by the KKK in the south as a youth. I also found his stories about going to the south during the Freedom Summer to be surprising, in that I never realized how close to the action he had been. It is not a canonization; they did not shy away from his long-term affair with Diahann Carroll and other personal failings, but rather presented a really whole picture of him as a human. I am admittedly a big fan, but even if you aren’t familiar with him, it’s worth watching. Sidney Poitier in guess who's coming to dinner is one of my favorite Sidney Poitier movies.

Just finished the Pam Anderson doc, and as others have said, it was really well done. I loved that her two boys were such a big part of putting it together. It is very obvious how much she loves them and they love her.
It is pretty amazing (and a testament to her) that they are pretty normal adults. I listened to her on a podcast recently and you could tell that was what she is most proud of. She even mentioned that they seem to have very healthy long term relationships, which she could never accomplish.
