I can't stand Ellie. I am behind some episodes but she gets on my nerves. Always has something to say. Never listens to Joel. I am on episode 6 and it grates on my nerves. Oh really? I love her and often forget that She's an adult in real life. It's just the character for me.

I think she invokes annoyance in the beginning - as a defiant teenager who thinks she knows everything. McBenny, you might appreciate episode 8 Ellie. I think it’s a turning point. I’ve always liked her but episode 8 made me love her.

This is literal life or death and possibly saving humanity and she never shuts the fuck when he tells her or gives her the look. She agrees and then does the opposite. It's annoying not from a teenager not being obedient but from literal life or death. She acted this way before E8. 🤷🏻♀️

Anyway, for me it's annoying to watch. I don't wish her character dead or anything.

Maybe it’s because the last video game I played was Grand Theft Auto, but I don’t understand how you know what’s going to happen by playing the game. I mean, I understand you would know what new challenges they would face but isn’t the outcome different based on how you play? *I do not know what the “just you wait” is referring to.

It isn't a game with multiple endings. Only one thing happens for everyone who plays and you can't change the outcome.

This episode was rushed and I didn’t enjoy Joel’s desperation. I’d have done the same thing honestly, but I feel like his personality changed in an inorganic way.

I’m happy with the decision but didn’t love the execution. I did appreciate how the hospital scene very much resembled a video game. I still really loved this show. What am emotionally rich season.

I know it’s the whole point for ~drama~ but the Fireflies were really dumb for not sedating Joel so he couldn’t interfere with the surgery. Or locking him up so he couldn’t interfere. Or…..saying anything else other than “Welp, she’s going to die, sorry not sorry”. Or just killing him. They had no qualms about killing a child to save everyone else, why not Joel.
Or did Marlene just really underestimate his humanity that Ellie would mean nothing to him after spending literal months together keeping her alive.

I'm wondering where it goes from here. Obviously they are going back to the community where his brother is. Probably a few episodes of easy living. Maybe then they all discover she's infected, panic ensues. Realize she's not turning and is immune. Ellie discovers Joel lied to her, probably takes off. He goes after her. I see it evolving into her sacrificing herself for a cure, with Joel possibly being killed. Or they last minute find another way to do it without killing her. One more season seems about all they could manage with this.
I really enjoyed it overall. I think Joel sees saving her as saving his daughter which he couldn't do 20 years ago.

I also think Marlene believed he would be so jazzed for a possible cure that he would agree it was a worthy sacrifice. But yeah he loves her and no way was he going to let that happen. I do wonder if Ellie was asked if she would do it willingly what she would have said. That would have been an interesting wrap up. She agrees but Joel busts in and takes her out anyway because he can't let her go.

I was surprised that Marlene supposedly raised her since birth. Not only was she willing to kill her pretty easily, but even in the first episode they acted like they’d just met fairly recently,

Maybe next season a flashback to that time.

That's what I got out of the first episodes where we see Marlene and Ellie is chained up. She took her to fedra as a baby that raised her in their program. Then Marlene met up with her again right after being bitten and not turning. www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a42482503/the-last-of-us-ellie/
