I haven't been around this board in a bit now, but I'm here for this.
I need Lee Zeldin to NOT win.
I wrote myself in for an unfilled town council position. If it weren't for this board it wouldn't have ever crossed my mind. We'll see 😂

I had a 30 minute wait so not too bad. Part of that was someone having an issue with their ID. yay Texas 🙄 It was depressing how many uncontested seats there were. The voting machines were new and weird. Privacy was almost nonexistent. Ugh

I shouted into the SC void last week (love me some early voting) and plan to dose myself with melatonin and wake up back in 1952 tomorrow morning. Maybe I will be surprised because there was no polling done since early September and Cunningham (D) will squeak through with enough 1 issue voters (abortion; same sex marriage, legalized medical marijuana) but I doubt it. Maybe Mace will be voted out of the house but again highly doubtful due to redistricting.

Ugh The "privacy" things are about 4" tall on the sides of our machines 🙄 We also had all uncontested seats for local/county positions, all incumbent Rs. So disappointing, but the R vote is always overwhelming anyway 😔

I’m in VA and I voted last week. We have a city council and school board election as well as congressional rep. We have a couple of doozies running for the local stuff including a guy whose kids are homeschooled running for school board.

All of the judge elections on my ballot were uncontested but I took the time to look up which Governor appointed each of them and didn't vote for any of the GOP-appointed ones because one of my co-workers who is related to a judge said they all compare how many votes they get for bragging rights.

ETA my point being that it’s a bit crazy how varied these things are!

My issue is I feel like someone appointed in 2000 *might* be more likely to be closer to the middle than someone that would be appointed now. (I am assuming Evil Calliou's replacement will be Jimmy the pig farmer and will appoint only those that are very far right.)

We have a website that shows judicial retention survey results. It helped a little but I found it more helpful to do a quick name search and see a couple new stories of their rulings. The one who upheld the temporary restraining order for the abortion ban definitely got a "Yes" from me.

I’ve been watching the Ted Cruz booing and beer can throw videos to calm my nerves. I do recommend.

I need to find the one from the TC GQP, someone had a checklist, I swear. One of the ones that actually shocked me was saying kids as young as 11 will be able to get "gender reassignment surgery" without parent consent. They're really hammering the parent consent part even though that's not even in the language. My aunt recently shared a post from her friend complaining that she didn't have access to her 12 year olds medical records, etc and blamed this proposal which.. isn't even law yet. Yes, minors do have some rights to privacy but this doesn't change that. Ugh. yup! That was in there, too! DD just came home and asked if I voted for Tudor Dixon 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I said no honey, we voted for Gov Whitmer because we love you and your friends, regardless of who their parents vote for.

I hope they are wrong at FiveThirtyEight.
I keep hoping that everyone is overcorrecting for past polling errors.

I really wish there was a better resource, there are Dem recommendations for other seats but it seems my only option for judges is Googling and trying to figure out if they're crazy? I really wish there was a voter guide!

Just got done. I've gone at the same time the last couple times and never waited. Not even for the 2020 election. Today I waited 30 minutes. I am hoping this is a good thing.

I’m so nervous. I was really busy with work most of the day, so that was distracting me, but I’m just nervous now. There is obviously a lot going on nationally, but we also have a very tense school board race happening in our district. I still have to get kids to and from activities, but then I will be ready for a glass of wine.

We voted! We had some quirky thing happen that has me very 🧐 I voted without issue but my husband’s registration somehow had his address switched back to his childhood home (same town, same district, we live like .25 miles down the road) he hasn’t lived there since 2011 and he’s voted in every election and it’s always been fine 🤷🏻♀️ he was still able to vote he just had to fill out some paperwork to go with it and I guess it will be counted separately with the other “weird” votes So right before our registration deadline in Ohio I got mail with my old name that was trying to get me to register to vote. I knew that 1-I have been registered to vote for 20 years and 2- my name had been changed since last year so I called and told our BOE.

Coming of the woodwork to compliment your absolutely spot on description of our current and likely future Governors. I needed that little bit of humor today

DD and I just got back from voting. There was a line as I was leaving, which is surprising given the podunk town we vote in. We voted in a different location in 2018, so I can't compare. 3 coworkers said there were lines at their polling locations this morning too. I'm hoping that's a good sign. Certainly not used to midterm turnout like this.
ETA: Just checked the local news...13% increase in early voting from 2018.

Oooof I haven't thought about Nate Silver in a very long time. Just reading his name takes me back to 2016, and my stomach dropped instantly.
