My H brought home COVID from work in Nov 2020, it was an office of anti masking assholes. A few days later I had to take my oldest to the ER for what we thought was testicular torsion. It wasn't torsion, and we were sent for a COVID test for him immediately. The ER doc told us even back then they were already seeing the effects of COVID in testicular tissue/fertility. I'm glad they're doing more studies on it, especially with the proof it's not from the vaccine. Small hope of changing minds at this point, but it's still good info.

My husband talked to his mom last night and she finally disclosed some things - she usually just pretends everything is fine or tells half truths.
Last fall my FIL was hospitalized with Covid. She said last night that he had an MRI done and the scan shows damage to his brain from mini-strokes he's had since having Covid. He hasn't driven in over a year, they sold his car, he now uses a scooter to get around the house, and he's suffering from incontinence. Even before Covid he was having some neurological issues (his mom had early Alzheimer's and passed away young and his sister also developed it a few years ago) and I think he was starting to show signs. But I think his covid infection exacerbated it.

I'm so sorry, fatpony. That's a lot to process in a phone call. Gentle hugs to your family.

I will forever be angry at the "It's just a bad cold/like the flu!" people because it isn't. The long lasting damage it can cause is scary. Not saying that was your in-laws' attitude, fatpony. Everything they are dealing with right now is evidence for why I am angry.

I'm so sorry, fatpony. That's a lot to process in a phone call. Gentle hugs to your family. Not even a phone call! All through texts! Today he got a text that my FIL had Alzheimer's screening today and MIL said "may as well call it what it is. You should come for a visit soon, it's progressing fast" Which is so frustrating because I've been trying to get my husband to get his parents to do this screening for probably two years. I even contacted senior services for their area last spring to see what help he could get but MIL blew me off.

Families can get so weird about major illness and end of life stuff. I wish more aging parents realized how heartbreaking it is to keep it to themselves.

I'm so sorry, fatpony. Families get so, so strange about aging things. My mom was in major denial about both her Parkinson's and dementia. I'm not sure how much is trying to keep it to themselves- and how much is they don't want to face it. Whatever the reason, it doesn't make things easier for the rest of the family.

DS2 called from school, his neck hurt (he says inside, so throat), but is also now complaining of one side of his jaw hurting. Covid test negative, but wish me luck it isn’t one of the other mysterious illnesses. Especially since our childrens UC are all consolidating into 1 due to the overwhelmed hospital ERs that need the staff.
