We ended up delaying the girls' boosters until today. But they are done, and there was no drama. I was expecting more grumbling. FX next year it's just a single flu/covid booster in Fall.

And my toddler is sick. Again. Runny nose, cough, fever. This winter is going to be relentless.

I brought my daughter in last week because she's had a cough and congestion since she got sick after the first week at school. Doctor prescribed a round of ABX and the after visit summary had a diagnosis of bronchitis with seasonal allergies complicating it (she said my daughter had "allergy eyes"). The drugs completely worked though and her cough is now gone and we're just left with a little bit of allergy stuff that her daily allergy pill helps with.
I'm glad she's finally cough free for the first time in almost 2 months. Now it seems like we're just waiting for the next round. I already explained to her that she might need to start wearing a mask to school again and she seemed fine with it and gets why.

trueblue I’m so sorry for your loss. My husband has a transplanted kidney and that’s really scary that COVID led to her body rejecting her transplant. She was a double lung transplant and was sick enough to end up with Covid pneumonia. I think it was just the perfect storm.

trueblue I’m so sorry. BIL is struggling with his transplant too and just getting over his 2nd (could be more) bout with Covid.

We are trying again for DD3's booster tomorrow. I have been unable to keep her healthy enough that I'm comfortable getting her a vaccine. Goodness knows she's exposed to all the things daily so we're going to bite the bullet with a long weekend. Hopefully this goes well and will be one thing she may NOT bring home this season.

My youngest just got her first invite to a birthday party for school. It's at a kids pizza/arcade place, and she's so so excited. My H thinks its no different from being in school and eating lunch with the same group of kids, but my thoughts are school is necessary and this is a party. The kids and I(minus the one in school) haven't eaten indoors here since lockdown started, but my H has for work lunches and things he can't really miss, so our risk analysis is skewed that way. How are you all handling this sort of thing? We're in a red town that I don't think ever made it above a 50% vax rate to boot :/

He's right that she's around these kids at school. You can ask her to mask when not eating at the table.

The kids and I participate in our normal activities, but mask with N95s indoors when we aren’t eating/drinking. Every family has different circumstances. If you have high risk family members the calculus on how you participate in pandemic society changes. But if you can find a way to let her participate, I’d do so. Birthday parties are such a highlight for little kids.

trueblue I’m so sorry. My friends father just passed away from covid. He got tested weekly in his nursing home (they had pulled him out for a year and a half and kept him in one of her sister’s homes to keep him safe from covid) and he turned a positive within a week. They saw him on Wednesday, his pcr came back positive that day, my friend felt sick on Thursday so she didn’t go see him, and he died Friday morning. It was so fast and he was 82 and had been getting over an pneumonia. lion I’d let her go. You could ask her to mask when not eating.

Illness is hitting my class hard this week. We didn't have a full class all week. One little boy had a febrile seizure on Wednesday. Yesterday we only had 7 kids (out of 12) then 3 went home sick. One that didn’t come yesterday had tested positive for flu. And one that coughed all over me yesterday tested positive for RSV today. 😔

The pharmacy I had scheduled our appointments for tomorrow just called to tell me that they are out of the 5-11 doses of the updated vax. I can't find it anywhere near me for another week or so. I'm frustrated.

I'm coming in with Lysol spray, y'all. My gosh, I am so sorry for all the sickness.
Our pediatrician does one swab and always runs flu, RSV, and COVID with it regardless of age. They always want to know what's going around and inform us of it.
DD2 has had an upset tummy all day. She went to nurse at school but stayed through the day. Apparently the room next door, according to her teacher, has a nasty stomach bug ripping through it right now. She also did three days in the hospital for RSV and flu when she was only 2 months old and I'm a hard fuck no to both.
DS and DD2 have both been so cranky and DSs nose is leaking like crazy. I'm praying it's nothing. DD2 birthday is Monday, the joint party for both girls is Sunday, then DD1 birthday is the following Wednesday. We need to make it through birthdays or my kids will be absolutely devastated.

We're in a red town that I don't think ever made it above a 50% vax rate to boot :/ We are doing indoor parties again and masking inside except when eating. Figure it's mostly the same group as school and with kids being so excited about parties, we are trying to attend all we are invited to, especially after missing out on several. I'm hesitant to eat inside at a restaurant for my dad's bday tomorrow, but it's prob similar or less risk than the cafeteria at school. It's a super early reservation, so I'm hoping it won't be too busy. It's hard to navigate all these things.

My period wouldn't be due til Sunday or maybe Monday and I think the shot is trying to get it going, as it did the last two shots. This time I got a lovely migraine today though 😭 which occasionally I get with hormone fluctuations though usually with ovulation.
