Hi ladies, I was on TCF since the exodus - first a member of TTCAL and then May 16. I've stopped pumping for a few weeks now (yay!) and I'm wondering what to do what all my pump parts/supplies. I have two PISA's and I was looking into Medela's donation program. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Can I save the bottles and parts for baby # 2 (hopefully a couple of years away)?
Thanks so much!

So a breast pump is only meant to last for the breastfeeding relationship of one baby. Theoretically you could save it for #2 but it won't work as well as a new one would.
You can definitely save bottles and flanges though!

I saved my bottles and parts. But then I got a spectra with #2 so I couldn't use the same parts. I am currently using the bottles though.
I didn't know Medela had a donation program. When I looked they had a recycling thing. But I would have had to pay shipping. But that was a while ago.

Thanks so much! I'm not an expert, but I have re-used all my parts and I'm on baby #4. I replace valves (the little white flats thingies) on the pump parts and the nipples on the bottles for each baby, but wash and sterilize the hard plastic items in those medela microwave steam bags. Hope that helps!

I would have to pay for shipping which sucks but I feel bad about just tossing the pumps too.

I vote store it all, get new membranes if you have another.
If the healthcare crap screws us and gets rid of the free breast pump program, then at least you have one.

I reused my pump for #2. Replaced the parts that needed it.

I also saved all my parts for baby #2 - just replacing valves and nipples. I have closed up baby-making shop, so not sure what I am going to do with everything.

+1 - planning to save pumps and all pieces/accessories for baby #2.
Even if they're not as effective whenever 2.0 happens, it's better than nothing, or having to buy one at full price)

This and even if you get a new one it's nice to have a backup. If you work you can leave the old pump at whichever location you pump less so you don't have to bring it back and forth.

One of our other S'16ers gave me her Spectra because she was done with it. Having one pump at work and one at home has been amazing.

Thanks again ladies - I'm just going to store everything. I agree with PP's about having two pumps. Leaving one at work was awesome.
