I’ve been absent. It’s been quiet. I know we’re not dead yet!
What’s going on with you all this autumn? Leaves are finally starting to change around here, so I’m getting in the fall spirit.

It's been hot 🥵 here, but today is a nice change of weather. Cloudy and cool with afternoon showers expected. I love sweater weather!
Work has been slow the last month☹️ but I'm trying to hold out hope that it'll pick up soon. We just signed on for a new build house, so we need all the extra income we can get.

It rained over the weekend for the first time in 3 months, and it was glorious. My windows are open today, and I'll take it before the 90 degree heat is back. I'll start putting out fall decor tomorrow and also get a PSL or Creme Brulee latte LOL.

We’re hopefully wrapping up our summer of house projects. It is stressful and exhausting to have people in and at your home every day for months on end. Hopefully by mid-October, we’ll be all done.
The girls have been in school for 2 weeks and we now all have colds. I guess our immune systems have to catch up with us. Work is going well. I got a promotion with a client. Still a contractor but more hours, responsibilities, and pay. It’s been of year of working with her, after 6 years of being a stay at home mom, and it feels good. Just enough to keep me busy and get time with other adults.

We're 3 wks into the school routine, this is our first full week though. Kids are doing well, M thinks kindergarten is the greatest thing she has ever done in her life and hates weekends because she can't to to school. Besides school we have been juggling soccer and golf for both kids, and girl scouts for M. MH's new jobs are going very well so he is happy and I am happy. The weather here hasn't gotten the memo about it being autumn so I'm still sweaty but it will cool down soon enough, we are enjoying the beach and pool time while we can 😀.
All in all we are good! I miss this place though we need to revive ourselves a bit.

Fall weather coming in with a bang today with a high of 64 after 92 yesterday. I wore a flannel to celebrate. We've been busy with school and L is doing cheer. Work is work. MH is busy with work and also signed on to work for our neighbors who farm during harvest so I'm not sure I'll be seeing much of him this fall.

Hi friends. Ditto on the routines, not sure we've had a full week yet - or maybe this week is. But we are all fighting colds so not sure they'll make it. Reminds me to go covid test myself here shortly.
Its raining/thundering and dark and cool and I love it. mostly bc I have a cold, AF, and some poison ivy up my leg thats super annoying. Sweatpants and hoodie on and only one short zoom this afternoon.
Kids have school and dance, did a free trial tennis class that of course M bailed on, but P liked. They are both taking hip hop which is hilarious. Guys, they are in 1st and 4th grade. WTF. M wears bras (she wanted to, doesn't need to) and deoderant. What is even happening.
I started playing tennis again this summer and its a pretty good escape. Except it makes me think of my dad every single time and then I have feelings. I need to sell his boat, most likely and thats going to create more grief. We used it a few times this summer (and I pat myself on the back for managing to do it without him) - but in all honesty its just sitting in my moms driveway collecting rain water. ANYHOO.

After two weeks of illness, the kids were back in school this week! L is doing piano this year, and both L and N will start swimming lessons next month. I'm enjoying getting back to our routines.
My mom has been in town for several weeks and will be here for two or three more. I'm officially a student again this semester, so she's been here to babysit to help me get up and running with my writing. Unfortunately, with the kids and then me being sick, I haven't made as much progress as I was hoping to. But I did just submit something to my supervisor and I'm feeling really good about the general direction of my dissertation, so overall I'm feeling motivated to be a student again. It feels strange after such a long break (4.5 years).
We've been having gorgeous fall weather. I just love this time of year! I'm going to get new outdoor Christmas lights this weekend so MH can put them up before it gets cold.

I'm on the train on my way to NYC for the hot sauce expo. I was supposed to make this trip solo in April of 2020, but that never happened. I haven't been able to devote much time to thinking about what I'm going to do while there (besides go to the HSE and chat with other sauce makers).
This is the longest train ride I've ever taken (8 hours) and I'm currently fascinated with the fact that I started the trip in the first car and I recently realized that we now have 3 more cars ahead of us with people already in them. We also have a new crew walking around checking tickets. So I'm assuming that we merged with another train, which is really cool. We did a back and forth dance at a recent stop, so that must have been when it happened.
I bought a whole new company about a month ago and that's going well. We're running at full tilt making goats milk caramel and we're likely going to be playing catchup for a while. I'm learning all about the rules and regulations about dairy handling, which is fun and annoying.
I have FINALLY hired all of the staff that we need - but several don't start for 3 weeks. But fingers crossed they stick around. Hiring has been awful, but I'm seeing signs that it's maybe normalizing into whatever that new normal will be. And then maybe we can focus on training instead of hiring.

Hey hey. It's getting to be crazy time around here! We started last week with doing some preschool homeschooling activities and while the kids both loved it, it really showed me that F is 110% not going to school next year - there is just no way he would be able to follow directions without someone basically holding his hand, and where he's not got super complex needs getting an EA for him would be next to impossible. Last week I booked my c section - baby A will be born November 2, exactly 26 months to the day after W, unless she decides to come earlier. Still have a ton left to do around my house, which is kind of stressing me out. We got a bit of hurricane Fiona last night, but it wasn't terrible for us - mostly a rain event. Our BBQ got knocked over and the power went out here this morning for about 15 minutes while I was making breakfast and that's about the worst of it.

For those of you who do not know, this is the last weekend of September.
(my family did not check the calendar and thought we would be visiting next weekend, which is October….)

I’m amused. I am at gymnastics with my kids and I’m listening to this man mansplain the difficulties of pregnancy and nursing to the woman with the young toddler. I’m pretty sure that she knows…

Just popping in to announce the birth of Ashlynn Sarah =) She was born on November 2 by c section, 7lbs5oz and 19". F and W are in love and fight over her sometimes lol. She's got a completely different personality to both of them, much calmer, and I'm so glad LOL

I am 8 weeks sober.
Don’t worry I’m making the calories up with candy.
But seriously, this is my longest stretch without alcohol.

Guys I’m buying diapers on Black Friday for my nieces baby shower! How exciting! I just packed up the last of mine to give to my sister. Feels good to get them out of my house, but also exciting that they'll be used again.

We celebrated Thanksgiving a day early, so today, we today, wrekked to the mountains to cut down a Christmas tree from the National Forest (a cool program run by Nat'l Forest Service). Took the dog, bundled everyone up, drove almost 2hrs away... As we were walking along the trail, MH says "crap, you know what we forgot?..." To which, I ponder for a second and reply "omg, the saw!"
You guys. We forgot the effing SAW to be able to cut down a tree. And it's Thanksgiving Day, so no stores were open, so we couldn't just buy one and go back. 😫
Like, how does that happen?? This is our 4th year doing this and we have never forgotten a saw. 🤦🤦🤦
We tried to make the best of it and scouted out some options and will have to return at a later date. We'll actually be out that way(ish) tomorrow for a Santa train ride, but that's not until well after dark, so timing would not be ideal. It may be 2 weeks until we can go back ☹️

This reminds me Of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.
Hopefully you made it back for your tree.
