I am quite fond of posting with you, but I'm going to sit this one out. Incense gives me migraines and then I throw up, and that isn't fun funeral vibes. You can have front row of the overflow outdoor seating. I'll look for my reserved placard.

Will they be hypoallergenic feathers? Inquiring minds need to know. No. And the incense won't be hypoallergenic either. I want snot and tears from everyone. Growing up the priest would get super into the incense and set off the smoke alarms 🤣

Same! I'm sad she's the only female family member in uniform now. The Queen fought so hard to fight sexism for herself, but evidently gave fuck all about sexism for her descendants. When Anne dies (or retires), we'll be back to only males participating in the formal military events, and the women will be back to just spectators. I mean, look at how many medals she has! More than any of her brothers except for the King. But she seems to be the only female with any medals at all. I mean, they’re honorary medals and uniforms that don’t mean anything. So her having more doesn’t really impact me? And I think it is more about the whole working royal thing. The other grandkids don’t have uniforms because they’ve never been “working.” Working is in quotes because they’re all a useless lot. Like if Harry had been a girl, or if Andrew had gotten his way about the girls working, they would likely have uniforms.

I had wondered if that pic of Charlotte was just her rubbing her face, if course it was and the press exploited the moment. And obviously W&K also bear some responsibility for the parading of their children too
I saw a therapist on Tiktok recently talking about parenting, the idea of "doing our best", and how it's a cop out. Like when you confront parents about something traumatic/problematic in the past and they say "I did my best"/"tried my best"/etc or like mentioned above with Harry and Charles and the idea of "I went through it and was fine". So problematic
I'm glad Harry and Meghan appear to be attempting to break that cycle. It's not easy to do

I think it was Maxima, WA, and Beatrix. But the issue was never that there could only be two...it was that the funeral was invite only and leaders couldn't bring a delegation of Very Important Randos. Was Mary disinvited from the funeral as well as the dinner though? I didn’t see her there. Reportedly. And by letter to the Danish government. Queen Margrethe and Queen Elizabeth were third cousins, so I’m not questioning why she went instead of Mary, but again, if you accidentally invite an extra person, you don’t send a letter rescinding the invite. Unless it is to Fergie. They should have rescinded Fergie’s invite and made room for Mary.

I think if they had stayed royals we would have seen them more. Archie did a tour at what 4 months old?

I thought he came just because he was so little and needed to be with mom.

I briefly played the piano accordion as a child. Get the boys into that too. Omg. The oldest has already asked for accordion lessons. I am not even making that up. We'll circle back to this and Imma need some advice on how to make his little polka dreams come true. John Candy's polka band is my favorite part of Home Alone.

Amazing 😂 I wasn't allowed to serve anymore when I was taller than the priest 😒 My sister got in big trouble for giggling behind the missalettes a lot DS was basically a one man show for years until they managed to recruit more kids. Then in the most dramatic fashion he passed out during communion. I saw him swaying and basically lept off the balcony eleventy months pregnant to go catch him (I ran down the stairs and up the aisle, MH said he'd never seen me move so fast)

So does Edwards's son, and he's still a minor! So yeah, there's still a sexist component and that sucks. Of course their personal medals don't affect me, but the optics still suck and it's still a shitty, sexist practice.

That doing our best is a cop out. Because what else are we doing, esp when it comes to parenting, if not our best? I probably oversimplified it. It's not just the "I tried my best" that's the problem, it's using that phrase as an excuse and not ever acknowledging that maybe it could have been better, if we could go back again maybe we could do things differently, or even acknowledge that we made mistakes and try to do better going forward. It is a cop out when behavior is/was a problem and especially when it isn't acknowledged. That there was no attempt to break the cycle. ETA: I was pretty deep in therapy tiktok for a while, it was pretty deep/thoughtful!

That doing our best is a cop out. Because what else are we doing, esp when it comes to parenting, if not our best? Yea, I can see that. But I also think it’s okay to admit when we are not doing our best. Or, that we have done our best and, in hindsight, it wasn’t really what we were going for. Of course, I doubt the tiktoker was going that deep. I have this issue where I look back with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, separate from the stress or challenge of whatever past time of my life and think "that wasn't my best" and I start taking away grace from myself and laying down fresh regrets over old issues that probably nobody else even remembers. And logically I know it's not fair to myself. At that time of life (say, when my anxiety was undiagnosed and untreated and I really didn't understand what was happening), that was my best parenting - even if today I cringe. So it can't be a cop out, but neither can "our best" be something we weaponize against ourselves because that needle will move over time as we gain the benefit of experience and knowledge. I can see all sides of this thing.

Random thought of the day: do you think Buckingham Palace will start selling squirrel themed souvenirs instead of corgi themed ones? I definitely had this thought the day the Queen died when my kid who was home sick was playing with the stuffed corgi in the Union Jack bag I bought in London. For some reason I imagined a squirrel with a hat or a vest.

Apparently Charles is obsessed with squirrels. Something about always feeding and watching the ones that live around his home in Cornwall? It's like a thing with him.

It's like a thing with him. And he lets them in his home! He also has chickens. These might be his only redeeming qualities.

Jumping in real quick and it may have been covered, there was a lot of back and forth. But I thought Will’s kids got titles right away bc of the changes the Queen made before George was born and had nothing to do with who Harry may or may not marry. I thought it was because they didn’t know if she was having a boy or girl and wanted to ensure the firstborn was the heir and not skipped over if George was Georgia or whatever. George would have a title as the first born heir to the firstborn heir. The change she did ensured his siblings titles. I can cite my source cause I don't need ANYONE (not you) arguing this. As previously stated one Will's kids came Harry was bumped down and there is no auto for his kids per this policy. Ted's the QE could have changed it but she did not and there was no precedent of automatically getting a title as the first born to the 5th in line.

Speculating Sandra Ho was there!! I saw a picture of her in that outfit earlier on fb. I think it was under ENews saying she was there for it Eta- in the pic, she wasn't at the funeral but it said she was in London.
