We don't go back until the 7th but I'm sweating because both my kids will be full-day this year. How are we all coping?!! How is my baby in K? What will I do?!

I've got all the supplies covered. J never went to school/rode the bus until he was 7 so sending M at 5.5 is sending me into a tailspin. She is into the same Spanish immersion program as her brother but Im still waiting to hear if either of her 2 bff's are in her homeroom. I know she is *ready* but I am NOT!!!! I'm not. I did join the PTO so planning to be at the school as often as possible. I'm not chill though. Not.

We are speshul since we homeschool but still getting our groove back after starting on 8/4. We are part of an unofficial co-op now which means we are out of the house nearly every day for playdates or group classes. It's so very different than the last 2 years in a crazy busy way.
I am reading aloud to L The Trumpet of the Swan which is new to me, and it is a delightful book! Our next read-aloud is The Phantom Tollbooth which looks fun too.

This was me last year and I quickly found my way to enjoying quiet days at home by myself.

We also don't start until the 7th, so enjoying these last few weeks of summer. Our pool is SO CLOSE to being swim ready - just waiting on concrete and the liner. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be swimming by Labor Day weekend so we can enjoy it a bit before school starts.
R will be in 2nd and E & A will be in 1st. They're all riding the bus for the first time this year. R really doesn't want to, but they already know everyone in the neighborhood and now I won't be sitting in a car pick up line for an 45 mins every afternoon. So I think it'll be good for all of us. I'm the PTA President this year. I was the VP last year and really enjoyed it. We had a new principal last year and a new vice principal this year plus my other 3 board members are new too, so it'll be quite the transition year, but I'm looking forward to it.

L starts grade one on the 7th. Kindergarten here is a half day program, so this will be his first time going full days. This feels like a huge change to me and I'm feeling more emotional about it than I did when he started K. He's got his best friend from K in his class with him again this year, so he's happy about that.
We got all of his supplies a few weeks ago so we're ready on that front. I have to come up with a plan for lunches.
N will be going back to preschool in September, too. She'll go three mornings a week instead of the two she did last year. She's very excited 😊

H and M start on the 31st, T starts 5-day, full-day pre-K on the 7th.
Since I signed T up for full time, I have learned my boss (wonderful boss of 8+ years) is moving so I will be losing my job.
Ugh.
I can find another job and it’ll be okay, but ugh!
We only got the supplies list yesterday (one week before day 1) so I’m scrambling a bit, but honestly, there was only one unexpected thing on the list - a 9x12 white board. Of course, I can’t find any local, and they only come in multi-packs on Amazon.

We started last week (see mental health thread on how that went 😬)
I think we're in a decent routine now. I figured out that the kids need a big snack for the car ride home. Charcuterie board/lunchable style seems to hold them over.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will get a seat on the bus (we're choiced-in to their PK-8 school for elementary, but the bus still comes/is zoned for middle schoolers, so we're trying to get a bus pass)

Our school started last week. The kids bus is here at about 7:20. It’s supposed to be here at 7:27.
They are not dealing with this well. But I enjoy it because I get work started quicker.
However E needs to be there early on wed/Thurs for band (7am 😱). So that will be interesting.

We started last week and so far so good! They're old pros now in first grade. We haven't had the evening meltdowns that we had last year when they were adjusting to being in school for a full day, so that has been positive.
I am not pleased that my employer is requiring a return to office 3 days/week. They are however allowing me to log in remote first thing in the morning, get the kids on the bus, and THEN come in though so that's the silver lining. It will be an adjustment but I am thankful that adjustment won't include rushing around in the mornings or morning latchkey. Bigs will do PM latchkey on my 3 office days and ride the bus home on my WFH days.

Today was the first day of school here. M and C were overjoyed and loved it. I commented to the girls that I'm glad that they love school, because I loved school as a kid too. C replied, "Of course you loved it! Because it was school!" Like I had just said something like, "I love doughnuts."
