sweetpea, that's the exact face DS had in his school photos last year. I just said fuck it and bought the photos to send to the grandparents anyway.

Too important not to share. One of my friends had a stroke and said she just felt extremely exhausted. After a few hours, she did have a “heavy” arm and then noticed that side of her face had become “droopy” before that realized what could be going on.

@sweatpea but her curls are so lovely 😍 It is a struggle because she thinks the curls are yucky and is either trying to brush them out or put into a ponytail.

Well, that's disturbing to read. I just had two straight weeks of low-level migraine that was focused on my right eye socket. I actually think I may have a cluster headache thing going on, but I had never considered stroke. That's terrifying to know that had she not kept pressing for a diagnosis, it would've easily gone unchecked.

So scary. When I had my stroke, I was extremely tired too but chalked it up to being pregnant (ironically with the sullen Kindergartner), work, and having an 18-mo old. At some point my face must have started drooping because after the fact, my FIL commented that I looked liked I had dental work. The stroke was so unspectacular that I flew to HI the next day. I was walking drunk and into walls so finally went to a doctor. Spent the rest of vacay in the hospital. I initially had trouble with everything but after a few days my walking and memory got better. To this day I still struggle with typing with my right hand and finding words. I wish your friend a speedy recovery

It was shortly after her high medical need infant (who is doing awesome now) was home and before they found a health aide. It was very scary and thankfully she is much better than it could have been, especially had she gone back to sleep after her shower - which is when she realized the symptoms she was having. Glad you are better too! ETA I messed up the snip. No clue how to fix it. Sorry

Today is DD1's first day of middle school. She's terrified. We relocated in the late spring and put her into school for the last month of fifth grade. She didn't make any friends. So she's really anxious about it all.
Logically I know this was a good time to transition with her, since most kids will be feeling the transition. But she just needs one friend. Please cross everything that she meets a friend.

carmensandiego, we moved here when my middle was starting 6th grade. It's a great time to transition; I bet she'll make some friends in no time. Fingers crossed for her!

We are going to go with a bunch of families with kids we know in another month or so in the cheap seats, so hopefully if they are terrible it won't matter. Our girls have never been either!

The plush song cube that plays the Baby Shark Show theme song he got as a giveaway definitely helped lol. Wanted NOTHING to do with running the bases, though.

Dropped off the boys today at school. It is weird to have the house be so much quieter. The weather is beautiful and the windows are open and I can hear the crickets and other noisy bugs.
Completely random, but we went to the bread store (what didn’t get retail store stocked the day before) and I bought 6 thick sliced loaves to make French Toast. By next week, we will have a supply of frozen, toaster ready breakfasts.

The internet at my house went down WHILE I was in zoom court today, so that was fun. And apparently it's an issue that requires a tech to fix (my H is in IT so it pains him when it is something beyond his capabilities lol). And a tech can't get out here til Saturday?! I find that unacceptable in this age of remote work and shit. How is that the first availability you have?!
Anyway. I drove over to my parents house (we live very close) to work from here because I want to take advantage of my remote work days, dammit. lol.

I’ve had a rough day with work and now I just found out DS1 lost his after school/day off spot for daycare. There was a disconnect between our provider and I so no one persons fault but now I have to accept the fact that since I wfh I will always have Ds1 home when he has a day off.

willow our fiber optic line broke twice because of how they installed it (they never buried it so when the wind would come it would break the fibers inside). There was one time I had to pack up my home office and sit at my parents for over a week before someone came out. It’s ridiculous

@williw does your library have mobile hotspots available? That’s my go-to fix when our internet goes out and my H needs to do work. ETA: willow

kbw That sucks about the daycare spot! And yes ours is fiber too and so I wonder if there is just more of an issue with that or something? It's way better than Comcast so I'm glad for that but I'm irritated for the next couple days, ha. Though actually, my mom has one of those memory foam beds that can move both the head and foot of the bed for back pain or whatever and it's soooo comfortable for my aching back right now. So this is actually not too bad, lol. oreobitsy I'm sure they do. But I much prefer my parents house to a public place, haha.

Ugh - we lost our spot too. They prioritize with some formula rather than first come first served and we didn't make the cut . We can manage, but it really was helpful and good for my mental health to not have to rush straight from work to H's work to pick them up.

I need to work on their use of the AF, it can be a bit chaotic in the mornings and they are toaster pros.
