My friends heard a comedian or read something on Twitter about someone using the phrase “normal marital hatred” and apparently anyone who is/has been married gets it.
I am full of normal marital hatred for my husband today. Just the usual crap that goes on when you’re in someone else’s daily life. Sigh.

I stumbled across this on Twitter somewhere today but accidentally closed it before I could read much further. I'm going to look it up now

Is this like the little things your spouse does that bug you? I've never heard this phrase

Makes sense to me, and kind of ties into a video I watched the other day about how we all marry the "wrong" person - because the ideal person we have in our heads doesn't exist.

I've never heard this phrase but I feel like I can relate. It's like those days where you mutter "fucking asshole" every time they annoy you, right?

Yeah I googled it and I guess there’s a new book that’s about… marriage? I read the article on NYTimes when I was half asleep. Maybe I’ll read the book.
I love A very much but some simmering things are just below the surface that are not significant enough to get truly pissed about, but are enough to make me dislike him occasionally. Lol.

MH and I drove somewhere in the same car last night that required several bouts of choosing a parking spot.
You know.

This is funny because I LOVE driving with my hubby (we had some great conversations on our vacation while driving) but when we get there and have to park and find our way to where we're actually going... yup

OMG don't get me started on driving.
I enjoy driving, in general. But to drive for EVERY family ride gets old and tiring.
I get carsick when she drives.
But she nit picks my driving and is like WOAAAAAH if I stop short when a light turns yellow. I was trained by a guy who races on tracks for fun. I got this.

Honeslty I just want her to pay attention to whats going on around her.
Tuesday - "I didn't know they had to do a swim test at camp" (that P failed, see other post). Literally, M didn't pass it last year and was so upset and has been practicing to pass it this year, which she did. HOW DID YOU NEVER HEAR ANY OF IT.
We are re-painting our bedroom and getting new dressers and realized we can't make decisions together so I bowed out other than basic approvals. If she spent nearly the amount of time talking to me or the kids that she does searching paint colors for our small bedroom that no one sees and we only sleep in - the above wouldn't be an issue.
Also, stop thinking days you WFH are helpful to me. Its not.

Omg stringy yes to the WFH. I am begging you, H, to just go to work. It’s not helpful to have my routine thrown off and to have you showing up in the background of my zoom meetings like it’s a surprise that I would be on a call.
