I have never been to Washington; We're flying into Seattle next weekend and spending one night there, then going to our friend's cabin near Leavenworth. Dh and I are staying downtown the first night and I'd like to make a dinner reservation. Problem- I don't love fish. I really want to but it's not my fav. I do love scallops and love raw oysters. We're staying at the Westin and will not have a car. I'd also take a yummy brunch rec for Sunday.
Thanks!

Lifelong Seattleite here. Great time of year to visit! Seattle in summer is *chefs kiss*
For dinner: Matt’s in the Market, The Pink Door, Cafe Campagne (all in or very near Pike Place Market, not a far walk from the Westin). Assaggio Ristorante is a couple blocks and very good, love the gnocchi there. Tom Douglas restaurants are all really good, google them, there are several. Same with Ethan Stowell restaurants. There are several about the city.
There’s always Elliot’s Oyster House and a ton of seafood and sushi options but it doesn’t sound like that’s what your after.

Try to grab reservations at the space needle if you're feeling extra touristy. The views are very worth it. You eat in the top that spins and you get amazing 360° views of everything. It's pretty awesome. A full meal, appetizer through dessert will get you two full revolutions.
We stayed at the Hotel Five and I can't recall the name of it, but there was an amazing bar restaurant like a block down that we went to twice because it was so good. I'm going to dig around and find the name of it for you.

Downtown Seattle also has the very first Starbucks you can get coffee from.

If your looking for views, Kerry Park is fantastic. Not far from downtown and amazing space needle and water views.

I second The Pink Door, Cafe Campagne & Toulouse Petit. For brunch I love Lola, Bario or Portage Bay Cafe (the South Lake Union location). It really is the best time of year in Seattle!

I agree that the Pink Door is great! Also if you have time, grab a drink on top of the Smith Tower. It has panoramic views and styled really cool. Very nice little place to catch a drink at night with the downtown all lit up. It even has an all caged in outdoor walkway you can use.

The Pink Door holds a special place in my heart so I’ll always recommend that!

I had a delightful brunch at Communion. Black owned, has gotten accolades as a best restaurant. It’s an Uber ride from the downtown area, or you can do an ebike. My sister and I actually walked back after brunch bc we had hours to waste, with pit stops at a brewery and an ice cream shop halfway between. www.communionseattle.com/food

Also, if you’re up for exploring, I enjoyed the ferry to West Seattle, had a fast casual Hawaiian meal and cocktails at the Ma Kai location marinationmobile.com/locationsAnd then we rented ebikes and rode along the bike path to Alki Beach area. Gorgeous views and an easy way to explore.

Awesome, thank you for all the suggestions. I'll let you know where we land.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around the weather. I basically live on the surface of the sun so the cooler temps are really throwing me for a loop. Do I want jeans? Sneakers? A lightweight jacket? I'm thinking yes.
I live in shorts and sundresses at home, but looking at the forecast, I can't see wearing that.

But wear what makes you comfortable. We’re a laid back city, so jeans and tshirt or light sweater isn’t going to get you any weird looks or anything.

Looks like it will be in the 70’s next weekend, so you will see everyone here in shorts, sundresses and sandals. A light jacket for evening is a good idea, but your usual summer clothes will probably be totally appropriate for day time. Whatever you feel best in will work here. As Kurt Cobain said, Come as you are. Summer in Seattle is the best. Not too hot, not too cold, no bugs, not humid with the bluest skies and water views all around. I hope you have a great time!

You'll see people in shorts but I like a jacket in the evening. If you wanted to venture out of downtown Ballard is just beautiful. I love Ray's for a nicer dinner or you could head to Fremont and stop in at Fremont brewery. Ballard is where the locks are located and (like everywhere else in Seattle really) there are great breweries and bars.

Friends are strongly suggesting Westward for dinner Sat night. Dh and I arrive several hours before they do, so thinking we'll rent ebikes and explore before they get in? We have been known to park ourselves at a cool bar and drink one too many; really trying to avoid that on night 1. I really want to try one of these Italian restaurants; they all sound so good!! Westward has a fish heavy menu but also oysters and a few things that do look yummy to me.

Westward has a fish heavy menu but also oysters and a few things that do look yummy to me. It’s super seafood heavy, so you’d have more limited options of seafood isn’t your jam. I live near Westward and it’s just ok IMO. The views are good (there are better, though) if you’re on the deck but honestly, there is no shortage of places with views in Seattle. I wouldn’t go there just for the view. You could do dinner downtown and then go to a viewpoint for dusk/sunset (sunset is late this time of year here, it’s still a bit light at 10pm) if views are some thing you’re after. I love dusk/sunset here in the summer. It’s so pretty with the water and city views. Westward is in a neighborhood north of downtown and surrounded by businesses. It’s a bit industrial immediately surrounding it and there isn’t much close to it in walking distance, but if you do it, you should go to Gas Works Park before or after dinner. The views there will not disappoint. Houseboats! Sea planes! Space needle! Downtown! Boats!
