First vacation down, one more to go! The week my niece and nephew were up, I maintained! Given that my nephew only eats 5 things (no joke) I maintained but I weighed in in Delaware. My week at the outer banks was fun, I had a few duck donuts 😳 but with walking a quarter mile to the beach, shopping, and tracking points as best I could, I lost 2 lbs! For a total of 19.8lbs. I weighed in in Chesapeake,VA and surprisingly I loved both those meetings more than my home meeting. FFTC? I live in the middle of nowhere and I'm limited to either driving over an hour or sucking up my awful WW leader. He's nice but I feel like he doesn't try. I rely on WW connect and you ladies for motivation.

Good morning, ladies.
Today was day 2 of 5 AM workouts for the week: yesterday was weight training and today was an interval run. I am sore, but feeling good.
Meals today: Breakfast: Green smoothie Lunch: spring mix salad with grape tomatoes, kraut, some sort of protein from Whole foods, and oil free garlic tahini dressing Dinner: marinated pork tenderloin with sautéed zucchini and bell peppers
I need to really focus on drinking more water today. I could tell I was a little dehydrated yesterday afternoon and I think it led me to snack more than I should have.

lizblue how did today go? Any surprises? Any wins? Are you doing online only or meetings? Hope it went well and tomorrow is even better. Make sure you drink lots of water. Thanks for checking! I came in right at my points and I was surprised to see how many points some things are! But I get it - that makes me make different choices. I had no points left at the end of the day for a glass of wine which made me sad, but it was pretty easy to skip. This may sound weird, but I'm having moments of sadness through this process- like I'll find myself looking forward to going out to dinner with H or opening a bottle of wine on the weekend, and I'm like - nope, that's not allowed. I'm assuming things balance out though. Right?? In regards to your salty snack comment above- do you like Veggie Straws? I love them and 40 of them are 4 points. I like when serving sizes are 40. I totally understand that. I think it takes a little bit to find your "enough". You will feel restricted for a bit, but as you make changes and cut back you will start to feel like you are not sacrificing as much as you initially felt. Also, as you start seeing results you will have an easier time making sacrifices. It really does work, but that first week of cravings and changing habits is tough for sure. I've never tried veggie straws but I also like the idea of a 40 item serving size!

I've been so terrible about checking in. It's been chaotic but in a good way. Im currently packing for our move and calling places to see if we can donate furniture. I leave September 7.
Anyways, SO had an interview with the co-owner/senior partner on Friday and at the end of the call he said he would know by end of next week about next steps. He told SO they will only fly one candidate out of the four out to meet with the team and present a business plan.
Well 2 hours after his interview they invited him out to the office! It's amazing! He actually is flying out the same day we do but out of a different airport and they were so accompanying that they booked his return flight for that Monday so he gets to visit for the weekend with us. The woman who he would be working under made a comment "does it really make sense to book a returning flight?" This opportunity seems very promising and he may be walking out of the interview with a new job so fingers crossed. Things have really turned around for us and it's nice to be excited about something.
I've notice my snacking is decreasing and I have more energy now. I'm feeling good. I'm cooking every night this week and will try to plan smartly next week since I'll have most of the kitchen packed up. We will be living with my parents for a bit and I'm excited to get back on our feet financially and for myself mentally. I plan to workout before I head to the winery to work. There's a Pilates studio that opened up near my parents and my mom and I will go and try it out. She needs to get back into working out and she agree to start back up with me. The membership for the studio is $99/month. It's a good deal considering in D.C. Area it's like $300/month. I'm excited and promise to be more engaged in this thread once I'm settled.
I just wanted to say hi! I see a lot of you are seeing success and that's wonderful.

dogbutt eeeekkkk! I'm excited to see your updates! Good luck to your H and definitely you as you pack up. I've done that move twice and it's difficult. At least you are probably getting your steps in! Can't wait to hear once you get settled.

H and I ended up going out for Mexican last night. I ended up going over my cals by 77. I allowed myself chips & a margarita. But I had a salad w vinaigrette (instead of ranch like I wanted!) Today's plan: 2 mile run 1st thing B: yogurt & granola S: cheese stick L: salad & meatballs (work is providing lunch) D: either tilapia or garlic shrimp. That may change, I have to go to orientation sat DD1's school. So it depends on if I eat before or after.

This was me on Sunday. Ugh. It made me feel terrible, mentally & physically. And of course now I'm in the "well I already fucked up so I may as well keep going" mode. I need to kick myself in the ass. Nooooo! Make good choices for the rest of the day. Take a walk or do a 30 second plank, something that will motivate you to do better. You'll feel better at the end of the day, I promise.

I need to kick myself in the ass. This is my problem. I'm currently working on changing my mindset because weight loss/ lifestyle change isn't a linear path it's a big ass squiggly line to the finish line. Obviously I would love to be losing weight right now but I'm not and I'm okay with it. I'm currently working on my relationship with food and it has been a fucking battle. I have good days and bad days or good weeks and terrible weeks. I'll eventually get there but it won't be tomorrow. I come to realize I can workout 2 hours a day 7 days a week and I won't lose weight if I don't get my relationship with food in a healthy place. So here I am figuring out why I eat the way I eat. It's hard. All this to say it's okay you had a blip in your journey pick yourself up and do better for the next meal. You won't undo progress with a slip up here and there.

Can someone tell me how I had a great food day and worked out (plus didn't eat those calories back) and yet I was up a pound. I know this is going to be when I have to go back to my weekly weigh ins only so I don't obsess. Have you measured yourself? This is one of the reasons that I encourage measuring. Also, exercise can make you GAIN weight at first. There's probably more than one process in the body that causes this, but one I know is...when you exercise, you create tiny tears in the muscle. The tears are good because when they heal, that's where the new muscle grows (which is how they heal). In the interim, those gaps fill with water, and that makes you gain weight (temporarily), but it's not bad weight. It just is. Also, the scale is a lying liar who lies, so while the general trajectory of your weight is good to keep an eye, your clothes, your measurements, your overall feeling of wellness and fitness are better gauges of your progress than your scale is. Ok, but I know and I'm completely human and I understand how the number on the scale feels like everything. It isn't. I have not. I probably should do that tonight

my whole life has been food. My mom didn't cook good so we ate out a lot or I helped my dad cook. then my dad got sick and I worked for a family owned restaurant so I ate there or went out with friends to get out of the house. My mom now is the entertainer, but still doesn't cook so it is always snack foods or we go out to eat. Birthday parties and family parties are always about food. I also tend to eat more when I am alone I think as a comfort thing that stems from childhood. Back then it was ok though because I was always small. Now not so much.
I am learning now that just because I am at my mom's house and she has snacks out i don't have to take them. She wont be offended. I am loving now looking at recipes or trying to make our current favorites healthier. We still eat out to much because convenience, but I am working on it.

thisbitch have you tried any of the recipes from the noom database? I've made a few and they're really good. I like that they tell you the percentage green and how they'll fit in your budget.

Also I can tell this is working in the sense that I am not starving all the time. I am skipping snacks more often out of not feeling hungry and by the time I do it is almost dinner so I just wait. For a little while I was not hungry at night and felt that was a win, but waking up starving. Now I find I am not as hungry even in the mornings.
Today I brought breakfast, but then got busy and by the time I decided I was hungry and should warm up my breakfast it was 11:57.

I rode my bike to work this morning so I took the long way home for lunch. I know it doesn't cancel out the cookies. But it's better than nothing! This is great!

Our weather is unseasonably cool today (I think a side effect of Harvey) so I got a nice 20 minute walk over my lunch break while listening to an audio book. I can't wait until fall weather actually arrives here to stay (probably not until late October) and little daytime escapes like that can be a more regular occurrence. Such a mood booster in the middle of the work day and so much healthier than the stress snacking I would do earlier this summer.

I started off the week staying within my calorie limit so I feel very optimistic today! I cheated myself and stepped on the scale during my period last week. Of course I was up 5lb, duh, but I hate seeing that number. I need someone to follow me around and slap me whenever I step on the scale.

So, here's where I am stymied. I get the kids, do homework, after school activities or play time, feed the kids, supervise shower and bedtime and get the kids down around 7pm. H comes home (usually) between 7-7:30. When he comes home, we're both starving and he wants to eat pretty quickly after that, which means that even if I were into making something time-consuming, he's not into waiting for it.
Most of the time I can manage to throw something in the oven before he gets home, because that can be done quickly and it can be cooking while I wrangle the kids. We eat so many variations of roasted veggies and meat, it's not even funny.
I bought an instant pot last year and never used it because there's no way I could follow a recipe while handling the kids and there's no way H wants to be sitting around waiting for me to figure out a recipe when he gets home.
Also, I get up at 5am, so I head upstairs to get ready for bed and read for a few minutes around 9pm, and that means any dinner prep time cuts into my free time and our couple time.

thisbitch do you work outside the home? Could you prep dinner during the day and then preheat the oven/bake during bedtime or after? I never have time to prep and assemble something before bed, but if it's ready, I get it in the oven so H and I can eat as soon as bedtime is done.
