Not doing Noom, but following along because I am also in the beginning phases of making healthier lifestyle changes in an effort to lose weight. I wanted to pass along a great find I stumbled upon while getting salad ingredients for my weekday lunch salads. Whole Foods makes an oil-free avocado vinaigrette salad dressing that is super tasty and calorie-friendly. (They have a whole line of these, but this is the only kind I have tried so far). This is what the bottle looks like: www.cindyskitchen.com/products/101/Avocado-Vinaigrette-Dressing

dogbutt, I'm sorry you and your SO are dealing with this. It's shitty that his company has treated him so unfairly and that he didn't get the dream job. I hope you two can come up with a solid game plan for moving forward and that it leads to bigger and better things for both of you. And, great job keeping your food choices in check, I can't say I would be as strong.

angelashly, how about a fruit salad for a side or for dessert? It seems like there is always dessert at cookouts and it's so hard for me to resist - so having something sweet lets me feel like I'm not missing out. Corn on the cobb is another good side dish. I grill it in foil, but first I spray it with olive oil cooking spray and add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder & parsley. The seasoning gives it a great flavor and I end up not needing butter!

dogbutt I can very much relate to the SO/job search heart-ache. I can only tell you that it's the shittiest process but if he keeps at it, he will have success. A series 7 is nothing to take lightly. That's important and impressive. My husband also needs a lot of hand-holding and attaboys and general ass kicking in the process and it slowly saps the life out of me. Today is a shit day because yesterday was so awful, but don't lose hope. Take the weekend, don't talk about job things, regroup, and then start kicking more ass on Monday. Yes sounds like your husband and mine are similar. Thanks for this.

I'm having some skinnypop popcorn for a snack. 150 calories for 3 3/4 cup. I put it in a small bowl to trick myself into thinking I'm having more than I am

Also I am really liking being able to put things in ahead so that I can see my day. I like that I can see that even though I'm having pizza tonight I'm staying in calories so I'm having no guilt which I've never been able to do before.
This means it will stick this time right????

Seriously, guys, how long does it take to load your steps from your Fitbit to your Noom app? And do your daily steps give you more calories?
I have leftover calories and want to use them for wine. Food is better for me, though. Although as hungry as I feel, I could probably get a buzz off a single glass.

I don't use a fit bit I just use my phone app so it is only semi accurate, but the load right away.

I think I'll deep clean more. I put it in to MFP and it says I burned 277 calories. I'm not adding that to my day to eat though because I don't think it's accurate plus I had some extra still

I will agree with thisbitch that changing habits and making it a lifestyle change is what it's all about. And 3 months in, I'm seeing it happen. I have adapted it to my life and I don't feel super deprived. For example, my family eats out on Fridays. I'm not willing to let that go because it's a fun tradition we have, saves my sanity after a long week, and it's special time for us. So now I plan for it (light lunch, save my weeklies, eat a smaller portion) and I do suggest places where I know I can eat within points or without going way over. Now just to work on my exercise habit....

I'm finding that my food portion is pretty good, wine included, but I need to move more every day.
I actually did a 1.5 mile walk tonight after dinner that a) gave me a glass of wine b) made my dog happy and c) made my son fall asleep in the pack and was able to transfer him to bed nearly 2 hours earlier than is his "normal" aka shitty bedtime. *caveat: he was at daycare without DD today and she's not here to keep him up...kid has serious big sister FOMO.

I also am not "nooming", but I upgraded MFP and calculated my macros.
I'm also still BF for now, so I'm adding a couple hundred calories a day.
I also am at my target pant size, I just want to be more fit. I know this might end up in an increase in weight, but I'd rather be fit and strong than skinny and weak.
My mom the "fitness guru" is so stuck on the scale number, and even though she is fit and strong, her target weight is too low for her mass.
I'm ok with being a higher weight if I can do more and be stronger.

I basically decided that if I can meet my calorie goal 6(ish) days out of the 7, and have a somewhat controlled cheat day (like have one cupcake, not an entire day of horrible eating) then I will consider it a strong win. This is an excellent strategy for sustaining a long-term weight loss plan. WLC had a system that if you went so many days without losing nutrition points, you could earn an indulgence point. And then, if you had 3 weeks of meeting all of your goals, you earned a free day- where you could eat all the things, no restrictions, plus you didn't have to exercise or do any of your other goals. I liked this system because it was sustainable. It was doable to restrict myself if I knew that after a short period of time I could earn a guilt free reward for doing it. And I personally have an easier time enjoying a reward that I've earned than enjoying something I got by "cheating" (or going outside of the rules or plan). And the free day every 3 weeks is fucking genius. That's about the breaking point for most people, but the little indulgences helped me hang on to the 3 week mark, dreaming of all of the things I wanted to eat and drink that day, and again, I loved that I earned it and there was zero guilt involved. Plus the one day thing is inherently self-limiting. I'm over indulgent but I'm not a binge eater and there is only so much damage you can do in one day. I think a system like this is sustainable for a much longer time than a straight system of tracking and always staying in calorie goals forever and ever, amen. It takes a little more effort, too, but a good excel spreadsheet or a planner/habit tracker should work for it, in case anyone is interested in trying it out. *This is not directed at HE, just a follow up thought to what she said.

I'm such a number person that I want to see that move doesn't matter that my pants aren't quite as snug. I am never going to be what I was before and I realize that now. I basically want to fit into my clothes in the regular section again and be strong and healthy even if it is at a higher number. I should say that even if I haven't lost pounds yet I do feel better even after just a week. I don't feel so full and bloated at the end of the day from the Coke Zero and carbs I've loaded myself with throughout the day. To;dr: I'll never be high school body me again and it's ok

Hello! SO drove up to a wedding today so I have a night all to myself after the tiny beast goes to bed. I keep going back and forth on ordering thi food. The problem is I will eat all of my padthai. I am planning a smoothie for breakfast, and salad with buffalo pulled chicken for lunch. I guess I should add all that in and see if it makes sense. I may say fuck it and just do it anyways. It just seems right on a rainy day to have Thai food. I obviously can't stop thinking of it. Maybe I should practice portion control with it and eat only half wait 20 minutes between and see if I'm actually really hungry.
I reAlly like padthai!

Thanks for posting this. I am going to bookmark it and re-read any time I am lacking motivation. I weighed myself for the first time since my surgery in May today. I have 25-30 pounds to lose to get where I am comfortable again. These past few days have been really good so far—cutting down on sugar and processed foods. I am feeling good and really positive about this change. I think the difference this time is I have been working on my mindset a lot more this time. Viewing these changes as part of a larger, positive shift rather than the punishment mentality I have had before. Thanks for sharing these links—they have been really helpful.

When it comes, immediately put half in a Tupperware container for lunch tomorrow. And the positive spin is you get to eat pad Thai two days in a row!
