That was a short statement.
Also in front of the house tomorrow?

Well that was totally anticlimactic. He just read his statement and left.

Schumer: Three new policies 1. Stop prescription drug price gouging, push to empower Medicare to negotiate drug prices 2. Enforce the anti-trust laws to protect consumers from predatory price raising. Allow regulators to break up big companies, and make it harder for companies to merge when it reduces competition. 3. Give employers, particularly small businesses, large tax credits to pay for the training of and hire workers at a good wage.

I love the contrast between Democrats holding a presser to talk about what they've heard while listening to their constituents and Republicans trying to pass a healthcare bill while completely ignoring their constituents

I really resent this persistent notion that people in the heartland work harder than people in the cities

I really resent this persistent notion that people in the heartland work harder than people in the cities I always took "hard work" in that context to mean physical labor. Not that there isn't physical labor in cities, but there is a lot less of it, proportionally.

I am really enjoying how many female Dems are speaking.\
But the speakers and the crowd are still so, so white.

I think it was originally intended that way, but I think now there is this idea that coastal people are lazy and entitled and don't uphold "traditional american values."

I love how excited and optimistic all of the dems are being in this presser. It's taking the edge off the pessimism I'm feeling from the healthcare/Russia messes

they are taking that Joe Six Pack thing a bit too literally. They keep talking about the rising prices of beer.

I keep trying to instill in him when he comes home and sits on the couch while I'm cooking dinner, chasing the kid etc that just because his job is more physical doesn't mean mine is any less exhausting. (im making him sound lazy and hes not but it is occasionally a bone of contention in my house)

Schumer: "President Trump campaigned on a populist platform, talking to working people. That's why he won. But as soon as he got into office, he abandoned them...leaving a vacuum on economic issues. We democrats are gonna fill that vacuum. Democrats will show the country that we are the party on the side of working people and that we stand for three simple things. 1. Increase people's pay 2. Reduce their every day expenses 3. Provide workers with the tools the need for the 21st century" I think this best sums up my feelings on these wild new ideas:

I actually feel angry about the Schumer op ed and am struggling to articulate it. But none of it feels new, I'll start there.

It is 100% not new, and I think they are pandering a bit (esp to white people whose quality of life has gone down from the last generation) but if they can sell it I'm okay w/it in the current climate. But yeah, definitely not new, just repackaged. I get why you're annoyed.

Hillary Clinton could have promised every american a free ipad and nobody would have listened to her because she was Hillary Clinton. I understand the annoyance with repackaging her ideas, but at the same time I'm desperate to get the GOP out of power

I understand the annoyance with repackaging her ideas, but at the same time I'm desperate to get the GOP out of power I'm still more than a little bitter about this, but it's true. I do worry that they are whitewashing the HRC platform by painting it in such broad strokes. How will they respond when they present more details that include pro-POC and pro-women policies and get accused of identity politics? In terms of messaging, presenting those broad strokes as a unified plan is obviously incredibly important, but I hope they expand, rather than narrow, their inclusivity as a party when it comes to the details.

Apparently the ACA has been ruining lives to 17 years. It feels like 17 years since this man took office.
