We're fairly well off and have talked about moving to another part of the country with how things are going, but the conversation always goes: "We could go, but we'd need both of us to work to afford a small place there, so we'd need my parents or my sister and her family to come with us. Then we'd need a small compound and maybe just 3 of us could work. "

So we basically wind up mentally planning a move that involves relocating our entire support network. We also know we'd be unlikely to pull the trigger and actually go.

And that's exactly why I doubt we'll ever relocate. There are too many things holding us here that would make a move so hard even though we really hate what's going on here on a state level. I couldn't imagine trying to relocate if you didn't have the income we have when you rely on a support network the way we do.
