May is almost over. Where the heck has this year gone??
How's your week looking? What are you fueling your day with?

Coffee coffee! The kids only have 3 more days of school and then we are on Summer Vacation.
I need to prep the dog stuff for her Board& Train, check in with clients, take care of things around the house, make sure the chickens are good to go, try to find a swim cover for R, pack my own stuff, finish laundry... Oy, feeling overwhelmed.

Today is a holiday for MH. I'm having coffee and we're about to sit down for chocolate chip pancakes, then I'm heading to my parents'' apartment to do some school work. MH is going to take the kids to the playground.
This is N's last week of preschool. The school year here runs from September to the end of June, so I was surprised that her school ends in May. I guess the teachers like a three month summer lol.

Last full day here.
I have half days Tuesday and Wednesday.
Coffee, laundry, cleaning up around the house, and work today.
5:30 yoga.
I also got my weighted kick boxing gloves yesterday. Our martial arts place is starting Saturday morning kickboxing classes. Totally out of my normal and I’m giddy thinking about it.

This is a super busy week at Chez Willy. It is the twins last week of PreK but I will be picking them up early several days this week to drive them an hour away for swim lessons. Then back home to pick up J from school and then our normal evening activities. Then I need to make up the work time I'm missing in the middle of the day. GAAAAAAAAH.
I had some iced coffee with coconut creamer and now water.

Hello hello!
This is the first week of summer break for my kids. We’ve got a couple of soccer games and beginning next week we will have swim lessons for my oldest on both Saturdays and Sundays.
My 7 y/o has been working so hard on his swimming, but bless him, it’s just not his thing. He needs *all the practice* in order to stay confident in the water and not panic. This summer will be his summer to thrive in the water, I’m manifesting it. ✨
Work is just insane and I’m always behind but. I’ve come to accept it.

I've been working on a draft of something for weeks and I finally submitted it to my supervisor this afternoon. I feel a huge sense of relief! Now I just have to wait for his feedback... MH and I are celebrating with strawberry beers 🍻

Hi! I feel like I've been absent here lately. Life has been busy. I drank a yeti of coffee earlier while driving my MIL to the airport. M graduates preschool this week, and I have meetings and appointments and swim lessons and a baseball game and an outdoor concert and contractors coming to my house and, and, and. SO MUCH.
It was blazing hot this past weekend and I had to fly out of town for 36 hours for my grandma's funeral while my MIL helped out at my house. We opened our pool early, yay, but the upstairs AC unit stopped working, there was a VERY messy dog poop incident in my bedroom, M got some sort of stomach bug, and my grandma's funeral included a "Christian" hula dance and also 10 jazzagal type women dressed as scarecrows singing and dancing to "if I only had a brain" from the wizard of Oz. Hand to God. My life is insane.

I had a coke today lol. Probably not the best thing to drink but I was lazy and didn't feel like making coffee. My parents crossed the border today so are officially here for the summer. We met them in a parking lot to give them the keys and their starlink package (Dishy McDishface as my dad calls it lol) and they headed out to the property. We'll be going there tomorrow and I'll be searching for fiddleheads while hubby helps my dad get the side by side out of storage and my mom and adopted aunt look after the kids. I made the list for what else I need to get for Fs birthday party on the 5th, and I also need to at least start the list of what I need to pack for our camping trip. I usually make lists way in advance so I'm feeling very stressed over this even though we don't leave for like 3 weeks yet. I have bloodwork, a phone appointment, and an appointment to pick up my dentures (FINALLY) all on Wednesday, and then Thursday is our regular speech therapy and bank run day. I'm also putting in my home garden this week and the big garden next weekend. This is definitely getting into busy time of year for me!

Oh, also - Friday I went to the city compost heap and got my compost for my bed and grow bags. While I was trying to figure out where to put the bags my upstairs neighbor leaned over the edge and asked me in a really snotty way what I'm planting in them (potatoes). Anyways, my neighbor across the way is helping my next door neighbor (an older lady) is helping my next door neighbor with planting on her patio and apparently my upstairs neighbors went to talk to her on the weekend and asked what we were growing and when she said food they implied that they thought we were growing pot. Outside our apartments. That are on and very visible from a main road. Like I'm not growing pot, but even if I was I wouldn't do it outside! My next door neighbor messaged me earlier and I'm still going "WTF" and laughing about that.

milano omg. I am sorry for the loss of your grandmother. But. Was your grandmother… Moira Rose’s devout Christian sister? The funeral entertainment sounds out of this world.

milano omg. I am sorry for the loss of your grandmother. But. Was your grandmother… Moira Rose’s devout Christian sister? The funeral entertainment sounds out of this world. That's actually a really great description of her 🤣, only less fashionable. It was like 40 total minutes of singing and dancing, I thought they were just doing the hula and it just...kept going? When those scarecrow costumes came out though, I got real concerned that I had overdone it on the gummies. But others confirmed it happened exactly as I remember so it wasn't that. The service was nearly 3 hrs long, thankfully I was in the back of a huge room, alone, with my sweet baby niece so we avoided anyone being able to see my absolutely uncontrollable face. Most bizarre memorial service, ever.

Hi, guys. I've been pretty MIA. Thursday is our last day of school. The kids have field day today so I imagine they are having an absolute blast. It's hard to believe I am about to have FIRST GRADERS.
TW pet loss * * * * * We lost our sweet Josie girl last Monday. She had a scary episode Sunday night with nystagmus and what I believe was a seizure. Her body was telling us that it was time. We kept the kids home from school so that we could all love on her all day. My sister came to stay with them while J and I took her to the vet. She was calm and happy and passed peacefully in my arms. Needless to say, I've been a damn wreck. For the last decade, I have spent each and every day gushing over and loving on that dog. She was truly my soulmate in animal form and I miss her fiercely. We all do. The house is so incredibly quiet and lonely now when I'm WFH and the kids are at school and the babysitter. I don't know if there is right or wrong or "too soon" for a new pet following pet loss, but I don't know how much longer I can stand being without.

pbandj714, I'm so sorry for your loss. There is definitely no right or wrong length of time to getting a new pet. You're not replacing them (you never can). You're just opening up your heart to more love.

A client (who I like) and I were talking about a customer that both of us have who is a pretty awful human being (he has left hundreds of thousands of dollars of bills unpaid to hot sauce makers - myself included. My client was lucky and got paid after about 8 months). The customer was recently slammed on social media for not paying makers and a whole lot of makers chimed up about not being paid. I noticed that a high percentage of the ones who still hadn't been paid yet (vs been paid late) were women owned companies (there aren't that many women owned hot sauce companies and they were an outsized percentage of the unpaid). I mentioned this to my client and he replied, "Oh, I'm sure that was just a coincidence."
Oh.
Ok, so he's giving more credit to the man that we had both established is an awful human being (he brought up the conversation) than to the woman that he's known and done business with for for years. Fun.

Maple, that's so crappy. I'd be curious if that customer dealt with any women-owned makers that he paid in a timely manner. Or, maybe he's just crappy all around Either way, I hope you get paid soon!

I've already spent more than a thousand on legal fees, but I'm moving on. It's been almost a year and a half and he's closed down his business and walked away from debts twice before. He owes another (woman owned) sauce company over $100K. They are suing him. Oh and because his company should be dragged, I'll go ahead and name it. Pep.per Explo.sion or Litt.le Sh.op of Fi.rey. I highly recommend never ordering their stolen sauces. Tell your friends.

Maybe the robbing will stop.
