Period talk in here.
I don’t remember what thread it was, but a number of people mentioned using Thinx. Does anyone here use them exclusively or does everyone use them for backup protection? I bought three pairs and am trying them for the first time. I am super unimpressed. I don’t have particularly heavy flow, but I ordered heavy and super and they have both leaked long before my PIMP (or Always) pads would. They were definitely not full. Instead it seemed like there was no waterproof backing on the absorbable part and they were just wicking through at the crotch. Is this normal? I was ready to love these and now I’m totally bummed.
Do anyone have different period panties that don’t do this?

That's a bummer! I use them on my light and med days and have only had them leak once.

I’m doing some research and I’m wondering if this is a “seal the PUL in the dryer” situation, since they’re new. I’ve emailed the company for more info. I also found a brand with bamboo and merino wool that sounds lovely. They also advertise edge protection, which I think might be what Thinx is lacking. So I may diversify my stash.

For me it’s a backup on days 1 and 2. Then for other days I’m light & it’s all I use. I haven’t had a leak with that approach.

I wasn’t too impressed with them. I had leaks on the edges during the heavier days, even using the super heavy ones. Now, I use them occasionally on the lighter days. I’m definitely going to look into the company you mentioned.

The company said that the rate of flow could be too high for absorption on the heaviest days. It makes sense, but coming from a CD world, it seems lame. The woman also said that on her heaviest days she has to change her Thinx 3-4 times a day. That, to me, is nuts. How many pairs of dirty underwear should I carry around with me?? Even on my heaviest days I only need one pad if life doesn’t allow me to change it out. And that definitely doesn’t work overnight.
They did offer me a refund, which is good, but I’m not sure. I might try to use them on a light day when I can easily change things out if it’s not working.

mapleme I am laughing at the thought of stashing 3 extra pairs of underwear in your purse in the morning to get you through the day. That seems like such a hassle! And then having to store the used ones.
