ETA **TW: loss and BFP**
Please forgive me for introing like this, but I am freaking out and I don't know what to feel or who to talk to. Know that even though you probably haven't seen me post, I've been lurking on the loss boards, and posting a bit on TTCAL but it's been so slow.
I had my first m/c about a month ago, at 6w2d. We were on vacation, so at an out of town ER and the whole thing sucked. Because it was early, I didn't need intervention and it proceeded on its own. In the ER u/s showed no sign of anything except blood, and HCG had dropped to 60 (from like 1000 a couple weeks prior). Came back home a week later, saw RE, uterus looked normal, confirmed m/c. He told us to wait a month (I think mainly for my mental health), but I suck at listening. I tracked with a fertility monitor, ovulation seemed to occur, and about a week ago I started noticing pregnancy symptoms. Two home tests earlier this week showed negative, but today was a faint positive. Went in for blood draw to check progesterone and HCG, but they are all acting like I am not pregnant and there is no way I could be pregnant because I haven't had a period since my m/c. This seems like bs to me, since I know a m/c isn't a period but it is essentially the body doing the same thing.
I don't know what to think. I want to be excited but I am just scared and, surprisingly, sad. Broke down in tears leaving the RE's office. And the nurses' reactions aren't helping. Doesn't help that H was on call last night and so was gone when I found out this morning. I don't even know if I want to tell him and get his hopes up. Ugh. loss sucks.

I'm so sorry they are dismissing you. Did they take your BW at all? It's absolutely possibly to be pregnant on your first cycle after. I hope they do take your betas, but if not, try to take things one day at a time. Today you are pregnant. The scariness doesn't really go away with PGAL, unfortunately. ((Hugs))

Thanks, ldubhawksfan. They did do BW today, thankfully. I am on edge waiting for the call. The nurse said "We're checking your progesterone, so if it's low, we'll have you start suppositories. IF you're pregnant." Ugh.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I assume they drew your blood, so hopefully that will give you some answers. You very well may have ovulated prior to your first post-loss period, so I don't know why they're just dismissing the possibility that this is a new pregnancy.
FX for good news.

I'm so sorry for the stressful process and that they are not treating you as kindly as they could. Do they have an explanation for the positive test and negative hgc?

What's the threshold they use for it to be negative? Under 5 is standard, I think, but I've heard of labs using higher than that. I've gotten a positive hpt with hcg as low as 10, so that's why I ask. I guess you could just have faulty tests too.
Again, I'm sorry you're going through this.

This is a good point- my first month after my MMC & d&c I got a positive hpt, then started spotting later that night. I got my hcg levels checked the next day and it was at 6, so they deemed it to be just dropping hcg levels from the MMC and not another pregnancy even though two days before I had had a negative hpt and then the day before a positive. I'm so sorry for your loss and are going through this. It's awful. Sending hugs.

I third the question about threshold. I had an ER doc tell me I wasn't pregnant when the bHCG came back at 25. And that one ended up being ectopic that dragged on and on and on.
I'm so very sorry that they are not being as sensitive about this as they could, and for your recent loss.

Definitely ask about threshold. My office considers 10 and up pregnant.
I'm so sorry you're in such a difficult limbo so shortly after a loss. Sending you some hugs.

Sorry for the late comment, I only just now saw this. I'm so sorry you're in limbo and aren't being taken seriously by the nurses! And this all so shortly after your recent loss *hugs* I will add a TP in for her as well grrrr. PP have given good advice about questions to ask - I hope you'll soon know more!

Thanks, ladies. H looked at the test and thought positive, too, so I guess I'm not totally crazy. Got my period this morning so definitely not pg, I guess. snowyowl, no explanation but I was so shocked I forgot to ask. Maybe I'm just in the lucky 3% with a false positive? bethkate, I don't know, I didn't even think to ask. addymac, that sucks. I had two negatives earlier in the week, too, so I have trouble believing it's still from the mc. elliecat17, ugh that sounds horrible. ldubhawksfan, I got the positive 11 dpo. So it was early, but not so ridiculously early.

I'd probably still call to ask what the actual hcg number was and I'd maybe take another test just to be sure it comes back negative. ((Hugs))

I'm so sorry for the confusion. I agree with bethkate in finding out what the numbers were in your test. ((Hugs))
