I keep getting left off meeting invites too sarenu, - happy for an unexpected free 90 minutes, but spent 25 of them trying to figure out what was happening.

Today is swimming lessons, both kids are now in the same class which makes my life much easier because they started in different classes on different days. Anyway. I prepacked the pool bag yesterday with everything they need. Took it out of the house today. Left it in the garage. Didn't realize until we pulled in and didn't have time to go back. I was SO prepared and so I was pissed when I realized I forgot it.
Luckily, I had 2 towels in the car from when I brought Fergus home after getting neutered....so they are using those and I could buy goggles at swim lessons. But that have brand new goggles sitting in the garage that are only 1 week old. I'm annoyed, at myself.

We have new neighbors across the street. It looks like the old neighbors left their Christmas tree up on a timer so that it would look like someone was there until the new neighbors moved in (maybe a month between move in and move out). The new neighbors just chucked it on the road. We don't have sidewalks, so it's straight up on the road (which is already narrow and made narrower by snowbanks right now). I'm guessing they come from a place where the city will just come by and pick it up? But it's been there for a week now. I really want to pick it up and put it on their property. But I also really don't want that to be our first interaction. I also know who could pick it up for $10 and I would love to let them know that (they likely don't know if they're not from around here), but that also seems like a negative first interaction. It's just such a strangely presumptuous thing to do.

It's just such a strangely presumptuous thing to do. Introduce yourself with a welcome gift (mustard, hot sauce ) and offer the contact info. They may just be flustered with the sellers leaving it when the house should be clear. (And there may have been other things left) I’d assume good intent and offer help.

I love MH very much. But every day after work he wants to tell me every single detail of his work day. Just give me the highlights dude, I’m trying to decompress from my own work day.

Holy hell government documents. I'm trying to submit documents for an SBA loan and every time I do it takes 2-6 weeks to come back to me and say that I did something wrong. But they don't tell me what I did wrong (that would be too easy), instead they just say, "We can't process your request without document XYZ" (which I already submitted). Then I have to pour over the document and the instructions figuring out what I did wrong. One time it was that the picture of my drivers license had to be a pdf, not a jpg. This time I thought that I did everything right. I even called them and asked them to confirm, so that I didn't have to wait 6 weeks to find out that something was wrong. They said that everything was correct. Yay! And then today (6 weeks later) I get another "we're missing document xyz" email. You know what it was this time? That the letters in my street address need to be in all caps, but in the city need to be written with regular capitalization. WTF?!?!?!?! I first applied for this loan in October.

mapleme, that sounds like the situation when my families lawyer was applying for our green cards post 9/11. He'd send things in for one family one week that was accepted, send things in for another family the next week the exact same way and have it be denied because this that or the other. Which is basically the entire reason I wound up back in Canada. The freaking government needs to get its $hit together.

Before submitting it again I was pouring over every detail and noticed that the tips say that one of the most common errors is to reference the wrong tax year and that you should reference only 2019 and no other years. But the form (which is only for this application, no other) is pre-filled with 2017, 2018 and 2019. WWHHHHHYYYYY??

Every time we move to a new location, crap weather follows. When we moved to Philly they had historic snowfall. The other side of PA had historic amounts of rain. And now this is the coldest weather in several years, around here.
I realize climate change is probably to blame but I'm griping anyway because I'm cold and going stir crazy inside. Jan and Feb are the wooooorst.

I guess a UO here. I was just asked in an interview what’s one thing I like about living in ____ (aka one of the top 5 snowiest cities in the US) and I said the snow! It makes me so happy but also helps that our towns are super efficient at snow removal. 18 inches on Monday and Tuesday was like nothing happened. It was -7 F this morning and we were outside by noon to go sledding.

I’m having such a hard time connecting with homeschooling families that are secular and science believing non-conspiracy theorists. Holy hell. It’s like they are all just walking stereotypes. I’m frustrated, discouraged, and lonely.

I’m frustrated, discouraged, and lonely. Connecting with other families is just so hard right now. Do you have a local science center (or observatory or aquarium or some other science based place) that has activities that might attract homeschoolers? Or go in the middle of the day when non-homeschool kids wouldn't be there.

We were going to the rec centre in the daytime for open swim and open gym, but B was always the only school aged kid there. We don’t have anything else that’s local.

Sorry, local hs group, I'm not going on your science museum field trip where you plan to not wear masks even though our state has a mask mandate.

It's amazing where anti-science people can pop up. My mom is an astronomer and was teaching astronomy to kids at a space and science center before retirement. She sat in on another instructor's re-teach of her class and he managed to slip in (in several places) that the earth is only 6000 years old. My mom was very blinky-eyed and horrified.

Stuck at a car service center. Oil change, breaks, and a new back wiper. I miss my coffee and I could really use some breakfast.

I'm gonna complain about others complaining. Two friends and I have a running group chat, mostly bc we all have kindergarten girls in the same school. They have nothing but negative things to say about most things that happen school wise. One I sort of understand because she also has a 1st grader w/special needs who has had a terrible experience there and its jaded her. But, like these teachers are amazing, everyone is doing their best and tired. We haven't had to close for covid. Its just getting old.

We joined a co-op on a farm and I made a comment to another child about chickens being descended from dinosaurs and the mom was like “no, we’re not discussing this here.” Whoa. K.

I’m not scared to complain but it’s important to remember the things that are going well, or… not badly. I find a raucous discussion of the day’s wordle or TikTok Celine Dion video helps lighten a heavy group chat.
