We had a busy morning - I called the doctors office again because DS' diaper rash STILL won't go away. So after another visit, we have some new ointments, and orders to come back again if it's not gone in a week. Fingers crossed something finally does the trick! We did also manage to get DS a quick haircut, which was badly needed. I think this afternoon we're pretty much just going to hang out in the air conditioning with no diaper because it's too hot to do anything else.

I just cut open a watermelon. It is gorgeous. Like the most beautiful shade of watermelon ever. Tastes like....nothing. Terribly disappointing. You could turn it into watermelon sangria! I made Bobby Flay's watermelon strawberry sangria a couple weeks ago. Very boozy and tasty. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk I like watermelon and I like booze. Mind sharing the recipe?

The greater Seattle area is insanely expensive. We are so lucky that we had family willing and able to watch the boys for us while we're at work. Houses are crazy expensive here too. Our friends just bought a place earlier this year in West Seattle. They bought a 2 bed 1 bath 900sqft house for $493k. It blows my mind how expensive houses are here. Yeah, his cousins live 40 minutes north of the city and told us point blank that we would need to both make six figures in order to live comfortably. Now I know comfortable to them is different then what it is to us, but when we started talking daycare costs I about died. Their neighbor still has her first home and rents it out. It's around 800 square feet and they rent it for something like $1800 a month. Insane. I think I live in the same area has your H's cousins. I can tell you that neither MH or I make six figures, but we also got very lucky when we bought our house in 2012. We got it as a short sale and about 6 months later the market really picked back up and now there's no way in hell we'd be able to buy a house anywhere around here.

I've had the best luck with clearing up diaper rashes using corn starch.

jubilantsquirrel, thanks for the suggestion. We haven't tried cornstarch, but it's definitely not a normal diaper rash, either. His doctor is still suspecting a fungal infection - we had tried one prescription ointment, and now we have one that covers a wider variety after today's visit, and the ok to use light amounts of cortisone cream, so we're hoping that will finally do the trick. I think if I have to take him back out next step is a small skin biopsy, which I'm really hoping not to put my baby through

I hope the ointments and creams you got today work and you won't have to get a skin biopsy done.

billmurray, here it is! www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/watermelon-strawberry-sangria-24371731 small seedless watermelon cut into chunks (about 4 cups) 1 pound strawberries sliced (1 cup reserved for garnish) 1 bottle rose wine, cold 1 cup vodka 1 cup orange juice 1/2 cup orange liqueur (I used Grand Marnier) 1 orange, sliced 1 lime, sliced Combine the watermelon and strawberries in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain into a large pitcher (you should end up with about 4 cups of juice). Add the rose, vodka, orange juice and liqueur and stir to combine. Add the orange and lime slices and chill for at least one hour and up to 24 hours. Add strawberry slices just before serving.

Did not make it to the picnic. I left work midday to take the baby to the pedi for his wheezing. He's fine. I'll never know what this dome is at this rate. Which is ok. It's hot as balls today. DNW to be stuck with hundreds of ppl in a non ac place.
Waiting for dh to get home so I can have some champagne. I might knock out the minute I do.
