What's going on today?

last night was interesting. I got home and went upstairs and was met with a blast of heat. The AC in the master was just blowing air, not cold air, just air. The one in K's room was not working at all. I got it to turn on and water started pouring out of it all over her changing table. There were ice chips all inside the vent. I checked the temp upstairs and it was 90+ degrees and climbing. I called mh who was working late and he put in a call with the installer. They are sending someone today, but in the meantime we could not sleep upstairs. I set up an air mattress downstairs and K's portable crib. K didn't get to sleep until 10pm so I hope she's not a disaster at daycare today. I'm pounding coffee and hoping I can go home early.

sheilathetank Omg that sounds awful! I hope the installers come quickly and fix whatever is going on. Edit: Hit post too soon... This is our first night in the new place! DS loves his new big boy room and was so excited to see all of his toys that have been in storage the past two months. We also got him some duplo legos, which he adores. He was so excited exploring the new place that he didn't really nap. Fingers crossed he will sleep well tonight in his new big boy bed! (It's basically a twin mattress on a platform bed that is only like an inch off the ground).

We have a company picnic today. I was looking fwd to going (last year I was pregnant so I didn't bother). But my CW said the place doesn't have air conditioning. wuuttt, it's 90* today. I'm gonna go, get lunch, check it out and come back to the office. I want my boss to say to leave after the picnic but so far no luck.

Rough night last night, BH had one of those nightmare episodes and was up for at least 2 hours. I finally got him settled 30 minutes before DH's alarm goes off.
Tonight we're going to the local museum that does children's concerts in the summer. There's a food truck and a $5 wine/beer bar. And the kids usually love dancing around.

It's been a pretty good first day of summer vacation over here. We've spent the morning being pretty lazy and just played around the house. We're planning on going to a splash pad and playground once DD wakes from her nap. H and I are going out for dinner tonight to a steak and seafood place that H says is fantastic (I've never been), so I'm excited.

Steak and seafood are some of my favorite things. Enjoy!

I'm thanking any deity who will listen that it's finally my weekend. DS and I did some much-needed food shopping and I think we're going to have a fairly lazy rest of the day.

sheilathetank, damn, I really hope they can get that AC working properly and quick. We don't have AC in our house because we rarely need it in Seattle, but on the days that we do it's absolutely miserable. Hopefully you can all get some better sleep tonight. littlelion, that sucks that the company party is in a place with no AC. Being in a crowded building with no air is the worst. Hopefully the food is good and you can eat and peace out. And that your boss lets you guys go home early today.

We've got nothing big on the agenda for this weekend, which is really nice. I think tomorrow we might go to the bounce house and I'm sure we'll stop by the park at some point. But other than that I hope to just do some quick errands and hang out at home all weekend.

We have tried to move out there but job competition is crazy and lol no to a $2000 a month daycare bill for one child.

I just cut open a watermelon. It is gorgeous. Like the most beautiful shade of watermelon ever. Tastes like....nothing. Terribly disappointing.

Cantaloupes and honeydews are often tasteless too, and they're my favorite when they're good.
I live in a small city in the Canadian prairies and I feel like we just get terrible produce most of the time. The strawberries have all been crap this year. There will be a few weeks where we'll get produce grown in BC that'll be delicious but it's short lived.
Right now our best fruits are kiwis and raspberries.

I made Bobby Flay's watermelon strawberry sangria a couple weeks ago. Very boozy and tasty. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

We are so lucky that we had family willing and able to watch the boys for us while we're at work. Houses are crazy expensive here too. Our friends just bought a place earlier this year in West Seattle. They bought a 2 bed 1 bath 900sqft house for $493k. It blows my mind how expensive houses are here.

Yeah, his cousins live 40 minutes north of the city and told us point blank that we would need to both make six figures in order to live comfortably. Now I know comfortable to them is different then what it is to us, but when we started talking daycare costs I about died. Their neighbor still has her first home and rents it out. It's around 800 square feet and they rent it for something like $1800 a month. Insane.
