Morning.
Sigh....
The electrician was a no show this morning. Can I get one service person to do their job? I just want to get this house sold. We need work done. I'm giving you money to do it. Why would you blow the job off?

Ugh, that really sucks mkrupar. How utterly unprofessional. We had a similar experience with a place we own in the states - we were literally calling this guy every week to PAY HIM MONEY to install these electric blinds in our unit. He was a no-show FIVE times. WTF. We had to use him, because the building had an exclusive contract with him...and I really, really hated giving him my business. In happier news, we are officially totally out of the executive stay place and into our new permanent home! I love it here, it looks even better with all of our stuff in it. We still have a long way to go in getting everything organized/put away, but I know it will eventually get done. Just taking things one day at a time, so I don't overwhelm myself! Also, the nursery looks so cute - I discovered today the movers also put together the v-tech walker and even found batteries for it. LOL. We had taken the legs off, removed the batteries, and put it back in its box for a reason! "Welcome to our learning farm..." Who can finish that line? All of us non-FTMs I bet?

mkrupar, LT for commiseration. Our landscaping is stalled for at least a week now due to waiting on permits and inspection. It's frustrating when these guys can't get their act together.

"Shapes and colors, music too, there's so much to do!"
DS still randomly loves running around with the walker, but with the electronic part removed (just the base of the walker).

H was able to come home yesterday for 6 hours, which was a nice gesture on the Navy's behalf but 6 hours is long enough to approximately nothing. We grabbed lunch and I drug him to K Mart in search of his special K cups that he loves (they weren't there).
Found out that this current underway was shortened so the ship will be back on the 25th instead of 29th, which would be excellent if he didn't have to stay on the ship until the 29th anyway lol. Sigh. At least they've moved from shipyard (high security) to Norfolk Naval Base which I can get on with my ID and go see him. He can't leave, but I can bring lunch onboard.
Tl;Dr - it sucks but silver linings, yo.

I haven't bought a single thing for baby yet. I don't know what I want my first purchase to be. It took us so long to get to this point that I want it to be special!! Maybe I'll get something next week.

Maybe I'll get something next week. You've got some time. How about a nice coming home outfit? Something special from you even though you prob got a ton from your shower if you had one? I'm thinking of getting one this time since DS came home in a hand me down 😢. I had serious PAIF issues with him and couldn't mentally get into the pregnancy. We only got the absolute necessities.

Thanks, that's not a bad idea. I'll be on the hunt for the perfect outfit! I think the shower will be September 9th. I'm not much of a planner so I think my sisters will be doing most of the work. Which is good.

Everyone, thanks so much for just being such an awesome bunch and chatting about bubs and stuff has helped me get over my paranoia and terror and really look forward to this pregnancy. If it weren't for you all, I don't think I would be mentally prepared and excited about it. I was so terrified the entire time carrying DS. 😘

Has anyone booked a newborn photographer? I'm shopping around - we liked our photographer from last time but she ended up being pretty expensive - so I'm looking around.
One lady I really like, but we only get 15 digital picture files from the session. She gives us 30-40 to look at and we select the 15 that we want. We can purchase more, of course, but we received a little more than double that with DS (of course not all of those were print worthy). Trying to decide if this is pretty normal - to get 15 pictures from a session. We plan to do Newborn, 6 months, and 1 year sessions.

CoachTsWife, I have reached out to the person who did the newborn photos for DS. I ended up using the wife of the guy who did our wedding photos. I found more often than not, the professional photographers locally either didn't give you the digital prints or charged A LOT for them. Honestly, the one we went with wasn't really an exception to that either. She had a slightly cheaper all-digital package than the other people I researched, but also having experience with her being the 2nd photographer at our wedding made me go with her. I also liked the example photos she had on her website (a bunch of which are now still of DS and us haha). She comes to your house within a week after you give birth, brings a bunch of props and a little space heater to keep baby warm, and stays for a few hours giving you time to breastfeed/soothe as needed through the shoot. She charged $800 for the shoot + all digital photos on a flash drive (the shoot with DS she gave us 46 photos). Other people I looked at were over $1000.

We found our photographer through a friend. We pay $150 sitting fee, then $50/hour for editing. We've paid anywhere from $200-$400 for editing and we are given all of the digital files to do with what we like. She's done newborn, 6 month, 1 year and 2 year for DD. We'll continue to use her for 2.0.

Yeah, arimaythea, it takes me forever to figure out how I want to use our photos, so I like to get the digital files so that I can ponder and figure that out later. I just found a photographer that looks good, is between the other two price-wise, and we receive 25 digital files. That seems better to me. I emailed her a few questions so we'll see. I really like the lady who we had for DS1. She does most of the sports photos for the school where DH works. I feel like her interest has shifted away from family-type sessions to seniors/sports games. Plus, these other two I'm looking at will come to our home for the newborn session which is really enticing now that we'll have a toddler + newborn to wrangle during the session.

We didn't even do newborn photos until DD was 6 weeks because of the premature delivery, so really, going by gestational age she waa a newborn. She'd just been an outside baby 6 weeks early.
I haven't scheduled yet for this baby since everything is truly up in the air. I know my photographer told me October is filling up, so I should probably just get something on the books.

We're using the family photographer we used last year for Christmas pics and that I used to take DD's 2yr photos in march. Maternity session scheduled for September and she's also going to do a fresh 48 session in the hospital and a newborn session at home. I think we get 15-20 images and print credit. She tends to throw in a few extra most of the time though. IMO the pictures are worth the $$ because I don't have to worry about anything but what we are wearing and they turn out great.

So the JBF sale I was going to sell at in September moved to the first week of November because of venue issues. I definitely don't want to deal with it all either postpartum or overdue so I found another one on 8/2 nearby. I'm almost done creating the tags and now I need to find hangers. I found a website that sells a box of 500 wire kids hangers for $50 after shipping. H hasn't gotten back to me, but I'm thinking I should go ahead and order. I've got about 300 clothing items that I'm selling.

I still have to go back and read. I'm off work for the day and currently enjoying a pedicure so my feet are fresh for a friends baby shower tomorrow. Headed to the store to grab some last minute things for the shower then DD's last swim lesson tonight. She has done so good! I'll probably pick her up a prize for doing so well. Happy Friday!

racegurl87, if you don't need wire hangers, try Target. They have kids/baby hanger packs for $1-2 online. You could order closer to your 300 needed and pay around $30-35.

I'm laffin at the vtech walker. DD is almost 20 months and still loves that damn thing.
Re: Photographers...I spend way too much money on pictures. So far we've done NB, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, & 18 month pics for DD. Wow thats a lot. Basically I have a problem. 😂🤷🏼♀️ Around here, photographers typically charge one fee that includes the sitting fee, editing, & X amount of pictures. The one I like/use the most charges $175 and I usually get around 20-25 pics. He did DD's newborn pics and will likely do this baby's too.
