Not diapers, but nobody handles laundry catastrophes like cloth diaper people… I have a baking dish that has an insulated carrying case. For Christmas Eve dinner I was in charge of making baked fish, so I brought it in that. When I opened is, the sauce had gotten all over the cover, and it smells very strongly of fish. I threw it in the wash on hot and now the cover and the entire basement smell strongly of fish. Is there any hope or do I need to throw out the cover and move? Thanks.

Vinegar or lemon juice. Acid will neutralize nitrogen in the fish.

Please report back. That’s just chemistry, not laundry. But surely the principle carries.

You can also spray cheap vodka on surfaces (even soft surfaces) to neutralize odors if the smell lingers in the air after cleaning.

I had already thrown it in a 2nd hot wash when I saw your tip. I’m letting it air dry and if it still stinks I’ll wash it again with some vinegar. It’s hard to tell because the whole basement smells like fish now…
