All the books on my reading list are super practical and boring right now. I need a good fiction series to jump into.

I have the book Grit sitting on my desk, but I haven’t started it yet.
I just read the book The Better Sister last weekend and enjoyed it! It was a quick read. It’s kind of a murder mystery/suspense novel.

I sort of started the Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer (Kurt from Glee.) it was gifted to E and she is on book 4 of 5, so I figured I should somewhat know what she is reading. Especially once she started telling me about Goldilocks or Jill of Jack and Jill being pregnant.

The internet ate my post I made right after starting the thread LOL!
I started Sigh, Gone last night by Phuc Tran. Both our parents escaped from Vietnam the same week in 1975. It is heartbreaking to read his experience in Pennsylvania as a child of refugees versus mine in California. The cultural shift for our parents is so similar, but he experienced much bullying that I never did.
I also started a cheesy series last week called Plantation Christmas Weddings. The first story was cringey for me as the bride and groom wanted their respective widowed parents to fall in love. The second story was a good palate cleanser of high school sweethearts reuniting. I still have two more stories to go.

Lol, I'm not nearly as mature as all of that. I like teen dystopian fantasy sci-fi. I'm a 12 year old boy. You know, right after I finish the Confessions of St Augustine.

I read refugee stories and then need the cheesy romance novels to clear my head so I do get that aspect!

I'm currently reading The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. I really like it so far, the characters and the plot are charming me.
I recently finished Bewilderment by Richard Powers and I highly recommend it. It's a story about climate change and what may be in store for us in the future, but it's also a beautiful story about the relationship between a father and son. It's a very fast read and well worth it.

I constantly have holds coming in from the library and I also got a ton of books for my birthday last week, so my TBR list is a mile long right now.

I have some non-fiction on the go. I’m currently reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. She’s a psychotherapist and this is her memoir. Apparently it’s being adapted for t.v. I’m really enjoying it so far.
When I’m done I have Divergent Mind: Thriving in a World That Wasn’t Designed for You by Jenara Nerenberg. I think the title is pretty self explanatory.

I was gifted some old historical romances from my friends mom (like 70s old) so I've been reading them for a bit of escapism.

Yes. Have even described it as escaping lately. This month I read This Tender Land- which was great but dragged on a little. I read Megan Rapinoes book and now I’m reading the 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
Reading seems to be one of the few things I can do at home that is joyful and also solitary. Which I need.
Oh I’m Also reading the Jazz of Physics. Which is technically for work but super interesting.
