I just watched Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time this week and it was so good! I was pleasantly surprised. This is so funny because I had the exact opposite reaction What?? It’s so good! Such great camp and horror tropes.

I hated the second installment, and the third was just meh I am not a scary movie person, so they were just the right level for me in that regard. We both thought the 3rd was the weakest out of the trilogy and really liked 1994.

Like, H watched The Grudge earlier this week and I refused to be in the same room with him, even though he was watching it on his computer with headphones.

For Fear Street... Spoiler
If the person telling the story turned out to be the younger sister Ziggy all along, how would she know all of the story and dialog that was going on with the older sister under ground? Like...how?

Oh shit. The Strangers. To this day I have to keep my phone on me at all times when I’m home alone. This one was genuinely unsettling for me.

Not a movie, but I have been watching Evil on Paramount+ and it is really good. Good mix of supernatural, stuff explained away by science and some good psychopath stuff.

Oh The Ring! I was a kid who always loved scary movies and I was 13 or 14 when that came out and I saw it in the theaters. That was the first movie that scared the shit outta me. I was fine until she came out of the TV then that image haunted me for awhile 🤣 I've mentioned this before in the Blinds, but I used to babysit The Ring girl.

As far as campy stuff I love The Purge and Final Destination movies. I will not drive behind a vehicle hauling rebar. Shant.

Better Watch Out is pretty decent. It's Christmas themed horror.

As far as campy stuff I love The Purge and Final Destination movies. I will not drive behind a vehicle hauling rebar. Shant. One time, my sister and I were at an intersection behind a very large flatbed hauling giant logs. As the truck is turning, the logs start to come undone and roll off the side. Thankfully, it was going pretty slow so I was able to easily get around it, but I did stop the car as it was happening and my sister and I both turned to each other and said, Final Destination!

It's been so long since I watched any scary movies. Some of my favourites from way back were The Others, The Mothman Prophecies, The Skeleton Key, The Sixth Sense, What Lies Beneath.
More recently, I liked Split. And the Haunting of Hill House genuinely scared me.

The 1st Final Destination freaked me the hell out too. Looking back I think it played very well on my undiagnosed (at the time) anxiety and my brain always going to worst case scenario. I was legitimately freaked the fuck out.

Because the house I would have lived in then I remember I had one of those TVs that had the VHS built in the bottom in my bedroom

We watched Trick or Treat last night and enjoyed it.
Quiet Place (1 & 2) kept me on edge of my seat/covering my eyes.
I also recently watched Ma and liked it.

My friend was this trust fund kid and he had all the technology and he had a DVD player and we would watch that Final Destination scene where someone gets hit by a bus in like click click click slow motion and my mind was blown by DVD players.

I also went to that same college with a person who was in one of the final destinations (the roller coaster one) and we used to kiss a lot. The guy that gets his head smashed by the weights. I've mentioned this in Blinds.

This one was genuinely unsettling for me. Agreed Yes. I am freaked out even thinking about it. Also, Us…. That movie was very unsettling for me too. DH and I watched Freaky recently and that was fun. It’s a horror/comedy/almost satirish and I found it entertaining. ETA- the quote got clipped but that is referring to the Strangers movie

I like a lot of the movies mentioned here. Nightmare on Elm Street is such a great creepy concept regarding a monster who can get you in your sleep. The Descent is one of my all-time favorites. One of the few to actually creep me out. The cramped spaces were enough to heighten my anxiety. The Poltergeist series has huge nostalgia for me, as does It, Child's Play and Rosemary's Baby. I also like House of Wax, Paranormal Activity, 30 Days of Night ( brux, tell Josh Hartnett's parents he did really well in that movie), and Silent Hill. lol you’re mixing up awkward brux stories! I called Charlie Korsmo’s parents. And I hung out with Josh Hartnett at a college house party.

Silence of the Lambs is my favorite. And Fallen is a close second!
We watched Babadook last year, thought it was ok. We have a cat named Dune so now we call him Babadune lol
Also enjoyed Candyman (excited to see the new one), Get Out, Seven, Sixth Sense…I like scary movies but I’m a wimp so I often watch them half under a blanket or through my hands. But oddly true crime and Criminal Minds type stuff doesn’t freak me out. What’s wrong with me??
