I know there are a few of us here that enjoy horror movies so I thought I would start a thread since it's that time of year when quite a few new ones come out.
Have you seen any good new horror movies lately?
What's your favorite horror movie?

I'm not a huge horror fan (I basically won't watch shaky cam movies) but I do enjoy the genre quite a bit. I've actually really enjoyed some new ones that I've found on Netflix this year. Although for every good one I feel like they release four bad ones.
New releases I liked: A Classic Horror Story- An Italian horror movie that actually had some twists that I very much wasn't expecting. I really liked this one.
No One Gets Out Alive- The atmosphere and actors were great and even though the story wasn't anything especially new I enjoyed it.
Not really horror but I really enjoyed Night Teeth on Netflix- it's a vampire thriller and was a great movie for the fall season. I didn't really like Malignant I felt like it took itself a bit too seriously until the very end.
My all time favorite horror movie is 28 Days Later. It ticks all my boxes; great actors, an engaging plot, an amazing score, and I love that in the end the humans are in some ways even more evil than the zombies.

My fav is probably the OG Candyman. Also Child's Play.
And for some reason, I loved Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. I have no idea why. My brother and I loved that one growing up.
I haven't really watched anything recent, but I think I'll watch some of your recs.

‘Let the Right One In’ is a good Swedish vampire film.
‘Train to Busan’ is a good South Korean zombie film.
I also love 28 days later.
‘Rosemarys Baby’ is a classic, and not gory.

Older slasher flicks are my favorites. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4, Jason Takes Manhattan, all of the Halloweens except the 2nd one.
I liked Let the Right One In (swedish version is best) and No One Gets Out Alive. Malignant was just okay.
Cube is one of my favorites if you haven't seen it.
The Babadook was really good.
I enjoyed the Fear Street movies for the nostalgia factor.

I'm currently watching Jaws 3 on Netflix, the best of the Jaws movies IMO.

‘Train to Busan’ is a good South Korean zombie film. Great film, and that little girl broke my heart at the end!

I haven’t watched any recent ones that have stuck out as great to be honest. I like spooky/creepy more than gore, so I suppose even though it’s not a film, the series Behind Her Eyes has been my favourite watch of 2021.

I barely have much time lately since the babies started crawling. But some of the newer stuff I’ve been loving.
- malignant (this one is so trippy) - movies we love series from Netflix has a few horror movies they’ve covered. Halloween (my favorite), Friday the 13th, nightmare on elm st, and aliens. - the conjuring 3 - Halloween kills. I liked it. It was entertaining. - #alive on Netflix is good. - you’re next on Hulu - centigrade on Hulu. Is a thriller slash suspense. Very good. Based on a real story. - unhinged on prime is really good too. - the new candy man.
I’ll be back for more. I didn’t put classics because I always have a few I rewatch on Halloween.

I'm going to see the new Halloween tonight in theaters, I've loved the Halloween movies since I was a kid! I'm obsessed with all the slashers from when we were younger, including the cringey 2000s ones.
I watched It Follows for the first time yesterday after hearing about it for years and thought it was amazing. Maybe not scary enough for some people, but it had the vibes of classic horror movies that I love.

I have vague memories of a movie that scared the crap out of me in maybe 92ish? But I can’t remember the name.
The killer was following a woman and somehow he could see what she was seeing so he knew where she was. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

I almost started this thread yesterday! Yay!
I recently watched The Empty Man on HBO and it had so much promise but I am so mad it lol.
I'm also looking for recommendations for movies that are good for kids. DS likes scary stuff but obviously not too scary.

I got back into horror movies a few years ago, so I'm usually watching a mix of newer ones, and old ones I never saw.
Some favourites (And rewatches): Cabin In the Woods Dale and Tucker Vs. Evil Assassination Nation The Final Girls Sea Fever The Fear Street Trilogy Scream Trick R' Treat The Autopsy of Jane Doe
I recently watch There's Someone Inside Your House and really liked it. The House of the Witch was also good (both on Netflix)

Another recommendation here for Babadook and also The Invisible Man.
Goodnight Mommy (in German) was really creepy.
The new horror movie, Lamb, will be available for streaming one day only, on Tuesday, 10/26, and MH and I are going to stay up late and watch.

I'm going to have to rewatch the Nightmares on Elm street, and Halloweens.

I am watching a really weird horror movie called What Lies Below right now. I'm still deciding how I feel about it.

adelbert have you seen The Invisible Man? It's fantastic. No! I watched that horrible one with Kevin Bacon Hollow Man (which I just saw is 20 years old) so ummm time flies. Anyway I wasn't sure if Invisible Man would be any good. But I'll check it out now.

Hereditary was good too— really creepy and the end was pretty over the top, as I recall.
