Movies in general don't really scare me. But The Strangers absolutely terrified me.

This is perfect because I really want to watch a scary movie this weekend.
Most of the Stephen King movies scared me. The original Pet Semetary will always haunt me. Anytime a Gray cat came in the shelter that looked like the one in the movie I got chills. I enjoyed the new IT. Carrie is a classic and of course The Shining. I also enjoyed Thinner. We recently watched the series The Outsider on HBO and while not super scary it had its parts.
The Final Destination and Halloween movies are among my favorites. For creepier ones Rosemarys Baby, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, And Us will always freak me out.
My husband is a scaredy cat so I haven’t watched much recently. The last I saw was The Invisible Man which was really good.

The original Candyman was great but I can't watch the dog scene. Tony Todd is so perfect for horror.

Bumping to see if anyone has any recommendations for this year.
I've seen in the past few months:
Nope - really good Black Phone - LOVED. I read the short story so knew the plot but even so, it was wonderful The Barbarian - fantastic Men - wtf was that

I'm also looking for movies to watch with DS if anyone has recommendations for that. He likes scary stuff and has I would say a medium high tolerance for his age (almost 10).

Not true horror, but slasher/funny (along the lines of Scream) movie I watch over and over again is Happy Death Day I watched The Babysitter and the Babysitter 2 last night on Netflix during a bout of insomnia and thought they were pretty good ( same type- slasher/comedy) I love Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U - I also really enjoyed The Babysitter movies. I love a good slasher comedy. We watched Ready or Not this weekend and really enjoyed it alot. We wanted to watch the invitation which had the same vibes but looks more like actually horror but didn't want to pay $25 to rent it so we ended up watching Ready or Not.

Some that I watched this year that I really liked so far: Watcher Hatching Untitled Horror Movie X Fresh (so so good) Scream (the newest one) Midsommar (I know it's not new new, but had never seen it and loved it) Prey The Orphanage (Also older, but really good) Impetigore

I saw The Invitation and would consider it more of a gothic horror...Ready or Not has much more violence/gore in it. I love Ready or Not, I plan to show it to DH this month

For those who have Netflix, the documentary series Movies That Made Us did a bunch of classic horror films. Off the top of my head, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Aliens (that’s action adventure but I think of the Alien movies as horror too). I watched them all recently and it was so fun to see the backstory of how they came to be!

I'm sad that I'm so old when you say classic horror I thought you meant Night of the Living Dead, Dracula, Frankenstein, Dawn of the Dead, Chopping Mall, etc.

DD is 6 and likes horror too. So far she's watched: It: Chapter 1, Jaws, Jaws 2, Halloween Town series, Goosebumps (movie and series), Hocus Pocus 1 & 2, Coraline, Haunted Mansion, Gremlins, ET, Nightbooks, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters, Frankenweenie, The Dark Crystal, Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, Labyrinth, Paranorman, Monster House, Ichabod Crane, To be watched: Legend, Arachnaphobia, Tim Curry It, considering Chuckie but still unsure, The Witches, Goonies, Addams Family, and The Birds. Hope you find some that work. We've been looking at older movies since I'm not a big blood and gore fan.

I can't do jump scares. A friend just went to see Smile and he said it was probably the scariest movie he has ever seen

Speaking of Documentaries. “Nightmares in Red White and Blue” is about American Horror cinema. You can watch on Prime. It’s so educational and i felt compelled to see some of the movies they mentioned.
I always watch every year.

Did someone mention Come to Daddy last time this was posted? It stars Elijah Wood.

But some of my childhood horror favs are getting up there in age…

Barbarian was absolutely nuts! The trailer(s) vs the actual film is so different, but I weirdly loved that! Definitely a film to see in theaters!
