nam2013, I'll let you know if I see anything next week. I actually just posted this in a thread on GD - but S read all the Dragon Masters books and was really into them. They are early chapter books. He's into the comic type ones that I hate now. But I don't care what he reads as long as he's reading. I'll see what's new when I'm there next week! I dislike those books, too. I refuse to buy another Dog man book. I need to try the Dragon Masters. I’ll get him one for his birthday.

Start with the first one b/c they definitely build upon each other. It reminded me of pokemon type stories, if M likes those. battles and things like that.

nam2013, that looks interesting. Sounds similar (part book/part graphic) to Haggis and Tank that S likes. Quick read, but funny. Lots of puns, and it taught him homonyms (there's a lot of I bought this Sail on Sale type humor).

nice to see you here Cher ! SSDD here, dealing with some work nonsense today then working from home tomorrow so I can go to Color Run at S school. I volunteered for the book fair next week (it's my fav thing to do at the school, I love helping them all pick out new books!) Other than that, we are trying to book a last minute trip for the first week in November. It started out S was were off just the Thursday and Friday and no he's off Tuesday too and they added half days for M/W. So... barely any school. We are going to try to book something leaving Wednesday afternoon returning Sunday. So that's something to look forward to. I helped set up our book fair today. I'm so sad it's the week before we leave. I can't ask my MIL to watch my kids so I can volunteer since she will have them for a week while we are in Mexico..

lfig travel safe and I hope S’s appointment goes well! jewels, I’m jealous. Got my refund today for the trip I’m not taking. Need to find a day to treat myself with some of that money. Cher Hi! nam2013 I was where you are a few weeks ago. I hope you can find someone to help. DM me if I can help. Sadly, my cure was us getting covid. I have had 3 migraine auras in 48 hours. I think my new job is trying to kill me. I love the kids but there is so much paperwork that no one shows me what to do with and my 2 assistants don’t come in often and also don’t call out. They have had legit quarantine/kid situations but since they don’t call out, I don’t get coverage. The office finds me people but late since they don’t know to be looking for people and I can’t establish a routine with a different helper every few hours. I think I need to go back to being a “lady who lunches.”

kim22 sorry about your cancelled vaca. I hope you’re able to make it happen another time. I wish this trip could be more of a big trip but we’re not up for that. I think we settled on visiting MH family and spending a few days in DC & Baltimore. Do the zoo etc. nothing to exciting but we’ll be staying in a hotel which excites the kids

The delays are insane. My coworker went to get her a new sofa and wait times were a year. Something about the foam they put in it is in short supply. Seems like that is this years theme. Every. Damn. Thing. has a part delay. As someone who buys microchips (and similar parts) all day long, the lead times are insane. I saw a lead time on a supplier's website for a part that said 9999 weeks. I was like...no one on this planet will still be alive then. And even though it's on the news daily and we live it...people still don't get it here. I ordered furniture over a year ago and it’s still not here. That said, my husband literally works in imports and his life has been somewhat ruined this year. It’s a nightmare. I don’t think people know how bad it is.

It’s kinda funny since we got covid from CT.

I don't deal directly with our importing/exporting, but I'm closely enough involved to know its bad. Ships anchored outside of Long Beach, containers stacked at the ports waiting to move inland, and hundreds of thousands more trying to move on ships. It's crazy. And even though you could tell somehow today how bad the situation is, the next day it's as if the conversation never happened because they still don't seem to understand.

He has things sitting on the water until next year. He’s not even really working right now because it’s fruitless to continue to load when contracts on the water are getting cancelled. And yes, people still call screaming at him and he’s like “it’s the same situation as it was yesterday.” He thinks it will loosen up by mid to late 2022, which is just wild.

It has an indoor pool, boating and a really cute town.

We had something booked for back when everything closed down. Maybe we'll go in the spring.

Not a “guess we will go here since we can’t go anywhere” vacation.

We had to cancel a trip to St Lucia. I want to do something.
