It's horror season for me so I'm trying to watch as many shows as I can. I ended up binging Midnight Mass and loved it. It's more of mystery horror than a gory/pop out horror. There is a lot of religion/religious talk in it but I liked that the main character, Riley, is an atheist and provides an alternative view.

Just recently watched this too and loved it
I liked the thin line between good and evil aspect of it a lot. I was raised Catholic and everything with the mass and preaching was so accurate.
It also brought up questions I've had myself

We just finished it. I liked it. But I felt it was a little to wordy? For me at times. Like, some of the monologs went on a tad too long.

It detracted from the points being made because at some point I was no longer immersed and was just wondering why a particular monologue was STILL going.

I don’t horror, but I want you all to know that rvasc texted me and asked “are you watching midnight mass?” And I replied, very earnestly, “At the cathedral?” It's more mystery than horror so you may like it. It wasn't scary at all to me but I liked that. I hate the jump-scares, or gore-horror.

I dont want to give anything away for anyone reading that hasnt finished
But I think one of my favorite things was that I liked the way it ended. I usually dislike the endings of shows like this because it comes too quickly or abruptly or everything is just magically all better at the end. That didn't happen this time and it all made sense (although sad)

I loved this show so so so much. Mike Flanagan is my favourite horror director/tv movie writer and this is another amazing show by him. (Although my favourite is still The Haunting of Hill House). As a lapsed Catholic it hit me in the feels many times. I thought the acting was so good (the actress who played Bev was great), the characters were great and the story was so well done and I also liked how it wrapped up.

I loved it. It was definitely a commentary on the way that religion can be used to lead people astray, but there were definitely faithful Christians who didn’t drink the kool aid (or the 1080 in this case).

We watched and enjoyed it. I loved all the twists and turns that it took. DH especially loved it as he was raised Catholic.
Loved all the actors, especially the one who played the doctor that killed Derek in Grey's - she needs an Emmy nod for this. She was fantastic.

I don't Grey's. Who are we talking about? Bev! Ah! She played that part well. I definitely know some Bev like Catholics.

Omg. We're one and a half episodes in and finding it a nearly impossible slog. Quite possibly because we have a teething toddler affecting our sleep but please tell me things get more interesting. I can’t take all the endless talking (and I'm normally all about the slow burn so I don't know what's going on here).

It definitely picks up more by episode 3 or 4 but I was pretty interested from the beginning
