These dummies. For context the one gas station they used is in a really difficult to access location.
Gas is still over $5 in my area but this is very misleading.

I love Alamo Drafthouse. Once I'm ready for a theatre movie that will be the first place I go.

Iβm pretty sure we bought gas at that station in the past. It was our only option other than running out of gas on Rte 1, which we came uncomfortably close to doing. π¬

One of the unexpected perks of having DS in virtual school this year is we donβt have to do all the extra stuff. Like next week is Red Ribbon Week, which is mostly a whole week of dress up days. So Iβm off the hook for finding him an all red outfit and crazy socks and whatever the fuck else. π

I mean also I get to take him on impromptu field trips and stuff, but that was part of the plan. π

DD is virtual but has "storybook character day" on Friday. She was reading a book with a unicorn in it. So she has a white shirt and a unicorn headband with horn. Done.

Jeans or comfy pants is quite a theme π€ yeah. Unless this is a school with a uniform I'm just puke this is what my kids wear everyday?... no unis. its something like 'i'm a 'jean-ius for not using drugs'
my child will not wear jeans so its comfy pants/leggings 4 lyfe for her.
it makes no sense
Friday is career day - which is what they are using to avoid costumes for halloween, C actually sent an email to the principal requesting costumes at the end of the day, with thought out arguments and her principal emailed her back explaining inclusive-ness, and this is why they can dress as their careers, etc., it was actually pretty cool. and sent her on a rant on how the bathrooms at by the gym do not have feminine waste disposal receptacles, only the one in the 5th grade hallway.
my little activist in the making...
eta and i just realized that was a big ol AW on my part...

Iβm back to work/reality today after vacation. I needed it so very badly. It was also just so strange to spend 5 days with my H, my best friend, and his husband doing βnormalβ pre-pandemic things and just doing what we wanted. It was amazing. Seattle is a much stricter plane with COVID restrictions than MN which made it feel not as weird to go out to eat a bunch.
The Seattle area is also beautiful in October with the fall colors and the sort of spooky melancholy of the weather. My H wasnβt overly impressed outside of the nature stuff we did, and I agree itβs definitely not somewhere I could live but itβs a great place to visit for a few days!

DC area friends, what is the weather typically like in late February/early March?
I'm 95% sure I'm doing the DC policy field study and it will be 7 days in that timeline. I need to get some more formal work wear for it but don't want to totally miss the mark on weather.

Cold and damp and rainy. If we get any snow during the season it's often in that timeframe.

And I do need some pieces anyway so this seemed like as good an excuse as any to get some quality stuff, but I need the time buffer to afford it, lol

I've had the worst headache all day. It woke me up at 1 am. I was able to settle back to sleep but it woke me up again at 3 am. I had to take a hot shower and take some tylenol. It didn't do much of anything. I'm at work and completely miserable. I haven't had a headache like this since before brain surgery. I'm fairly certain it's related to my neck issues because the occipital muscles are tender to the touch. I've been at my desk all morning putting an ice pack on the back of my head on and off. Anybody have any amazing headache remedies?

Maybe take a break for some warm tea and deep breathing relaxation exercises??

Luckily, my workplace is extremely laid back. I have my heater going under my desk and am wearing super soft joggers and a hoodie. I'd rather be comfy at home, but there's no one else here to man the phones today. I know my boss will let me go home early if he gets back any time soon, so hopefully that happens. I need allllllll the sleep. I'm going to try some breathing exercises. Thank you!

Itβs the tail end of snow season. But there may also be daffodils and some flowering trees. Daytime temps in the 30s-60s F. .

CD1 and I'm annoyed. Someone brought in a 5 drawer dresser for our staff bathroom that people keep random stuff in. I had a tampon AND a pad in a baggie in one of drawers and they are both gone. Thank God coworker had a pad. But it's super thin with wings. I'm not a fan.

jkjacq - thank you for sending the extra toy catalog. It arrived the other day and my almost five year has been pouring over it since, marking down what feels like nearly everything. π
She won't stop talking about the baby alive dolls, so Santa broke down and bought the fairy one she wanted, though if she had her way she'd get them all. π
