For any Stephen King fans, what are some of your favourites by him? I've only read Misery and Pet Sematary, but I've always wanted to read more of him. The Shining Doctor Sleep Carrie Delores Claiborne Salem's Lot Gerald's Game Non scary: 11/22/63 Under the dome The stand I still have It and Bag of Bones on my list honestly anything I pick up from him I love Thanks! I've always heard such good things about his writing. His new novel, Billy Summers, gets amazing reviews. It impresses me that he's been able to write SO MANY books that people just love.

September was a great reading month for me. 11 books but some were in my top books I’ve read this year. I have the love hypothesis downstairs waiting for me! I really liked that one!

September was a slow reading month for me but all of the books I read were super enjoyable:
Local Woman Missing - 4/5 The House in the Cerulean Sea - 5/5 Winter in Paradise - 3/5
I definitely get more in the mood for thrillers in the fall! I am at 81/100 for my Goodreads challenge.... what a weird year lol. Usually I struggle to hit 52.

He has such a way of describing the scenery that even that becomes a character in the book. I love plot and character books so he hits that for me.

The last horror book I read was House of Hollow and it fucked me up. I need something to erase it. Oh this one is also sitting in my TBR pile.

September was whatever is slower than slow for me and I basically just read more of the SVH books on my Kindle. I also started Nothin' But a Good Time The Uncensored History of the '80s Hard Rock Explosion. I know, I should probably see myself out with all this fluff reading. But I do plan to re-start The Song of Achilles. And I'd like to read something creepy with Halloween at the end of the month and am open to suggestions. We would be such good IRL Friends. Nothin But A Good Time sounds right up my alley. - I am loving it so far. I mean, yes, there are some groupie stories sprinkled in (it would be not quite right if they weren't, which I know sounds weird) but it's mostly how all these bands got their start and while I think I know my hard rock bands, I actually learned quite a bit I didn't know.

I finished 5 books in September, which was honesty better than I thought I did, especially since Beneath a Scarlet Sky was so long.
Beneath a Scarlet Sky ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was so good. I knew next to nothing about Italy during WW2, and this is apparently based on a true story (although, the Internet doesn’t completely agree). Regardless, it was an excellent, albeit heartbreaking book.
The Kiss Quotient ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Mother in Law ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I had to rate this one in the middle of it, I probably would have given it 2-3 stars. But the ending was good.
Blood Defense ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a good legal thriller, and an easy middle of the night read.
The Blue Bistro ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was underwhelmed, maybe because this one kept getting recommended so I had high hopes. Not my favorite Hilderbrand. That said, it was an easy read, and good for middle of the night reading.
I am adding the Ex Hex to my list, and I do have a book from Amazon First reads last year that was The Haunting of… someone. I can’t remember. I never read it. I am not a horror fan. But I love suspense and thrillers!
Currently reading: Golden Girl- pretty different than her other books I have read, and I am already really liking it
Moral Defense (the second in the series after Blood Defense)- seems like it will be a quick read
The Last Thing He Told me (on audiobook)
I have some library books to get through including The Huntress and The Alice Network

sweptaway I adore David Chang and really liked Eat a Peach, too. Do you follow him on IG? His (now elder, I think they had a second) kid is way too freaking adorable.

I’m adding some of these other October-ish books to my Goodreads. Although, mid October, I will be on a beach vacation, so I may need a beach read or two as well.

I finally finished the 7 and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I wanted the characters to be rounded out at the end. I was just kind of left with an open scene. I liked the book a lot.
Starting The Apple Never Falls by Liane Moriarty. I'm using audible for this title and the narrator is driving me nuts so I may abandon.

These were my September reads. 7 is really good for me! Too bad none of the books blew me away. I did enjoy the uniqueness of Other People Are Typing. I just started Apples Never Fall. I’m only 2 chapters in and I’m already like THIS is how a family drama should be, not the crap I read last month, Not A Happy Family!

I am at 81/100 for my Goodreads challenge.... what a weird year lol. Usually I struggle to hit 52. Mine is so much higher than usual too, but it is because I have embraced audiobooks! Normally I read 30-some each year, but I'm in the 50's this year.

I read five books in September.
I enjoyed: -Home Work by Julie Andrews -The Maidens -Inheritance by Dani Shapiro -Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
Behold the Dreamers was the best of the bunch for me. I did the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator.
I also read Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morganthaler, which I downloaded from the prime lending library at some point. AWFUL. The characters had no chemistry, no cute banter, so boring. I forced myself to finish it. Why, I do not know.
Up next is The Guest List and Beautiful World, Where Are You. I'm leaning towards Harlem Shuffle as my BOTM.

Normally I read 30-some each year, but I'm in the 50's this year. What do you use to listen to your audio books? I think I want to give them a try. Now that my kids are at school, I have more time to get stuff done around the house, but I don’t want to because I want to sit and read! Then it ends up making me tired, and I want to nap lol If I can keep myself entertained with an audio book, I think it would help me to get stuff done around the house instead of pretending I don’t see the mess around the outside edges of my book. ETA Specifically for borrowing from the library. I don’t really buy any books aside from BOTM.

junch817 I listen through libby on my phone. Depending on the chore, I can listen during that or, more often, I hook my phone up to my car and listen while I'm running errands without my DD in the car.
