Anyone have recommendations on bibs? Right now I'm using the bumkins ones but DD just grabs them and tries to shove the whole bib in her mouth. Kind of defeats the purpose.

We're a few weeks into solids, and H turns 6 months next week. We started with oatmeal and breastmilk, then puréed sweet potato, carrots, apples, bananas and pears. Sometimes we mix the fruit and oatmeal to make sure she's getting some iron.
I want to start introducing some softer foods that aren't purées like avocado, egg, sweet potato, baked potato, steamed veggies, etc. So far she really likes everything, and it's been fun to see her try new things. We definitely give her a lot more baths now. 🙄

+1 to all of this. I hesitated buying these at first because of the price (I was looking on Amazon) but finally got some last week and they're the best.

Hi ladies! I need this thread. Anyone NOT making their baby food find any good veggie purees? I am finding they are all mixed with fruit or taste like crap. Or maybe i should stop being lazy and just make my food....

Hi y'all, I generally stick to parenting but am realizing that I am super behind in introducing solids to my 8 month DD. So far she has had carrots, sweet potatoes, avocado, apple, banana and pears.
I really need to work on introducing meats to her diet, any good combos because she is quite the dramatic eater and spits out what she doesn't like.

Or maybe i should stop being lazy and just make my food.... Completely agree with the Beechnut organic ones. And I also like the Plum and Sprout pouches. I always tried my son's food before I gave it to him because I wanted to know whether I thought it was tolerable. The Plum vegetable pouches with white beans and sweet potatoes and cinnamon I think or the carrot ones are actually pretty good tasting. He hated HATED peas from the Gerber brand. But he would always eat Beechnut and Plum Organics brand.

One of the first meats I remember my son eating was when we made nachos he liked to dip the hamburger in sour cream. Lol. I can't remember what age that was though. He's always liked salmon and pork products (bacon especially but also ham and pork chops) more than chicken. We made a lot of chicken but had to switch because he doesn't really like it. Honestly though, at that age, he wasn't too interested in meat yet. We did do some of the "meal" Plum pouches. Stage 3 meals I think? He liked the beef, tomato, chickpea, pea one the best.

I hardly did the meat baby foods. It was just too weird. DS1 had teeth by 6 mo. He had his first taste of chicken at 8 mo. My aunt gave him a chicken leg. After that I'd make some form of chicken soup weekly for him.

Also, I talked to another mom and daycare and she said she feeds her kid greek yogurt with bananas. It never dawned on me to give the babies yogurt!

Mostly they don't want you replacing breast milk or formula with cows milk before age one. Yogurt is great for calcium and natural probiotics in babies! ETA Obviously it's not ok if your baby has a dairy allergy.

His favorite combo was that and blueberries blended together.

Def don't want to replace bm or formula with it.

requiressnacks my DD just started solids but she seems to like the Beech Nut organic and Earth's Best veggie purees. She is totally not into fruit, though - she spits out apples and pears and loves the peas. Weird kid

I started out giving my daughter the Gerber purée dinners that had a combo of the meat and vegetables. The separate meat in the glass jars kinda skeeved me out plus I think having another flavor she already knew (like sweet potatoes or apples) helped her get used to the meat. Now she gobbles them all up. They have things like chicken and sweet potato, chicken and apple, turkey and sweet potato.

It's ok to give cheese and yogurt but because they don't want parents to replace BM or formula with regular milk, they say not before 1. Which is what you're saying as well. I'm still waking up 😆

I tried entering it in like five times and I'm on mobile so I would have to try and click right where I want to edit which is impossible with the tiny screen and fat fingers. Then it never worked!!! I was getting so frickin frustrated!

It's hard not to post and run in the evenings for me too. Posting via phone and wrangling 2 kids is a challenge.

So cheese, yogurt, butter, etc. are all fair game. Cow's milk itself is what should be avoided as you said, as a replacement of breastmilk or formula.
