I need a safe place to vent and violajack has already heard some of this over on the Cloth Diaper board. Here in California, my understanding is families who homeschool through a charter school can get an exemption from vaccines yet still get state funds for classes and extracurricular activities. We personally chose to go the affadavit route. My DD is only in 1st grade so we were pretty isolated for kinder since it was 2020. Now we can be out meeting people/joining a co-op, yet nearly every homeschool family we meet is anti-vax and anti-mask. My tax dollars are paying for your kid's PE class (that I'm paying out of pocket for) yet you're telling me I'm wrong for choosing to mask still?!?! Aaaagagahgahhhahh! ETA clarity

Hugs DGM, we gave up on our co-ops and play groups this year. We're tentatively sticking with our hiking group since it's smaller even though I'm pretty sure they're anti-vaxxers, but maybe just anti-mandate. We were lucky to find a forest school in our village that just started offering after school care for school age kids. They were down to take my older two as long as we drop them off after the other kids have walked over from the local public school. They're masking and aim to spend as much time as possible outdoors. My youngest will go there full day on the two days I teach and the older two will go there in the afternoons on those days. That's enough social time for us for now. Back in CA, I met a family that quit the charter we were using over vaccines, so I'm not sure what the current status is on that, but it probably varies by charter. I liked the money, but I think if we go back, I'll do private affidavit. I've experienced the freedom of schooling without monthly check ins here and I think I'd probably stick to doing my own thing. Ironically, even more of my tax dollars go to the schools here. *shruggy*
