We are supposed to have freakishly gorgeous weather and had wanted to go camping, but it felt like too much right now. Maybe if all this rain hadn't made us so frazzled- trying to climate crisis proof our 100 yo basement to 4 inches of rain in an hour now becoming a regular thing.

Ummmm. I’m kind of freaking out. My coworker who was vaccinated with Pfizer in Jan (same dates as me - we went together) got an antibody test and it showed no antibodies. She is not immuno compromised. They did say she is the first person they have seen with Pfizer that had no antibodies. But…Friggin yikes. I don’t like this.
She has a message out now asking her doc what to do.

I'm wondering if when it's booster time for me in December if I should ask for Moderna. If that's allowed?

But it worries me because of timing. But I’ll get my booster on 9/30 assuming everything stays on track.

I’m worried about people traveling for Labor Day here and bringing the covid back to school. But I can only control myself so…here I am in the world’s worst group project. We start school the day after Labor Day. It’s going to be a lot of anxiety that week. Yeah that’s when we start too 😖

Im so frustrated at my hospitals lack of discussion about the booster. I got vaxxed in December! Give me the fucking booster guys. Both dh’s and my hospitals are radio silent on the booster.

The county health department mandated masks for all schools today. I'm grateful and happy my kid's school district has no way of backing out of their own mandate now. The pressure from the very loud and obnoxious anti-mask minority has been really overwhelming.

DD1's PCR came back negative. For some reason they haven't got DD2's result yet though we tested at the same time. Of course, DD2 got it from DD1 so I'm thinking she's negative too.

Gahhhhhhh. I know ours is waiting for the anticipated FDA announcement on 9/20. They are only giving boosters for immuno compromised now. They said if FDA approves on 9/20, they are ready to go and 11,000 of our employees will be due for the booster based on their second dose date.

Gahhhhhhh. can you go get it from a CVS or Walgreens? Probably. And I think I will if I don’t hear from them by next week. I have a friends 200ish person wedding in 3 weeks and right now I’m only doing the ceremony and part of the reception. I think if I get the booster I *might* feel comfortable to take my mask off and eat.

Oh. That's .... (insert adjective) news. This will do damage. I'm pretty sure he has access to a damn fool enabling doc who gave him human ivermecrin. But his listeners will happily trot to the feed store for their horse meds and shit their pants.

Pfizer is still considered the best vaccine out there ATM (not that the others are awful or you shouldn't get them). And there are always individuals who have poor immune responses to certain vaccines. A friend of mine has had one of the hepatitis vaccines 4 times and still shows no antibodies for it. In other words, just bc your friend doesn't have antibodies doesn't mean you have to worry. Maybe ask your Dr to check for your reassurance?

Thank you for this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get mine. I am a Maryland resident but my vaccine was given in Virginia due an agreement that my agency had with VDH early in the year.

New studies indicate Moderna is more effective against delta. It is unclear if this has to do with the extra week's spacing or higher mRNA dosage, but it does appear to have fewer breakthroughs. I've told this story on these boards many times but, if it helps: the vaccines work for the vast majority of the population. "Vast majority " means that some people will not develop the appropriate antibodies. This happened to my son, and he repeated a bunch of his childhood vaccinescand then showed appropriate titers. It was a fluke. Him being a statistical outlier did not indicate a flaw in the vaccines, it just indicated that his immune system acted weird for a little while. Your friend was most likely a statistical outlier. You should feel just as confident in your vaccine as you did yesterday.

That seems like a lot to give up over a little jab. Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out! A BUNCH of people in the sports world are hitting the “finding out” stage this week. MLB network fired a couple of commentators of not being vaxed. NFL teams are cutting some unvaxed players because of the liability. Some NBA players will not be able to enter their home courts if the city they play in have a vaccine mandates in indoor venues (like SF where the golden state warriors play). Me hearing all this: 🤷🏻♀️ Plenty of talent waiting in the wings.

I was just shocked to find out that was the case for her. They did tell her she was the first patient they have had like that. Which was reassuring for me but not probably not helpful for her. I’m sorry that happened to your DS and hope everything took when he redid it. ETA: I reread that and it sounds snotty on my part. I appreciate your anecdote. I’m calmer now. I was just freaked out when I heard because it’s not a possibility that I had thought about it.

Retest in case there was an error? We’ll see what they offer her. It didn’t sound like they thought it was an error but I suppose they will follow that thread. She asked if she should get a third shot of Pfizer or try Moderna. What prompted her to test her antibodies?
