I know this isn't exactly the same, but I wish they would do something like this with allergens too. Just right on the top or on the front of the box, at minimum on baked goods. It's why we ended up having to Epi and bring DS to the ER due to an anaphylactic reaction. Trying to check the bottom of cupcakes or another baked good without flipping it to read the label is difficult.

Ooph, I do not like this. Anything that ranks food as good/bad (or healthy/unhealthy) is a non-starter. This just reinforces a morality to food consumption that is not helpful.

So what would get a green light? Only vegetables? People already see a thing and think oh healthy, but even too many carrots arent good for you. Ferl like anything with a green light people would overeat. Cause green means good, eat all you want.

Yeah, I like the standardization of labels for allergens etc because that’s been really helpful for me as a food sensitive consumer. But labeling something Healthy or Not Healthy is pretty tricky. Idk how they would make those calls, and that’s the important part, what are the criteria?

Also watch them just try to manipulate serving sizes so that it's on the green if you need Bly eat a teaspoon of it, when a handful or two is the real scenario.

The story said this type of labeling is already used in parts of Europe. Do you see it in your stores?

The story said this type of labeling is already used in parts of Europe. Do you see it in your stores? Yes, I see it in Germany. As others have already pointed out, it can be manipulated to some degree using portion sizes, although I think it's also based on ratios? So that wouldn't change no matter the portion size. I don't really pay attention to it - when I want frozen pizza, I'm not standing there hesitating because it's red (although actually I think frozen pizza is usually yellow?). 😅

The story said this type of labeling is already used in parts of Europe. Do you see it in your stores? Nope. Have not seen this and just double checked a couple def unhealthy items to confirm. What we do have is nutrition based on 100g and the full container. So you see right on the front if a packet of cookies is 30% of your daily calories, which i find more helpful as a reminder that the whole bag isn't the intended serving size. Also when all foods have the same 100g calculation it let's you compare foods without regard to serving size. So you can just see this cereal has more fiber and less sugar, etc. So that actually is helpful in comparing if and when I want to.
