lfig so cute, but sorry about the seizures and the tantrum! Hope the rest of her day is uneventful! Also nam2013 and tgrimes - adorable pics!! guster I think subbing sounds like a great idea, so you can get your feet wet and see if you want to go back and if working with little kids is something you would be interesting in doing. But with no commitment.

I know holding B back is the right choice, but I am feeling a little sad about everyone starting K and him being left behind. All his old DC friends are starting, plus so many of the 2nds here.

Coworker emailed her daughters teacher for missed assignments during this week of quarantine. The teacher said everyone was in class and there was no quarantine.... Coworker is very confused, as am I. She sent me the email that the school sent her regarding the close contact and it really did seem like the class was going to be in quarantine. Idk what she's going to do now. wtf?

ok...so coworker called the school office, spoke with them and the nurse. Quarantine is encouraged, but not being enforced....? So she took her daughter to school, BUT shes still not coming in today because she has an appointment at 2:30. That's 4.5 hours from now, but apparently, that's not enough time to come to work, work for a few hours, and then go to the appointment. Oh, and Smokey already called in, apparently today is a "bad breathing day" for her. I am once again, the only staff member here. Again. I leave at 2, so hopefully they can deal after that.

If you are a teacher in the USA, you can teach 0-18? Over here those are different 4 year educations, one 0-4, one 4-12 and then a whole bunch of different ones 12-16 (each subject is a different four years) 16-18 is a masters. I don't know anything about other states but for New York there's a K through 6 certification, 7 through 12 certification (in a specific subject area), and then you can get an extension certification for either two grades above elementary or two grades below secondary. I think early education is a separate certification.

I mean my h is a high school teacher (7-10), he teaches history and social studies, but that wa ms a four year bachelor course. He did a masters to also teach 11&12, but he is not allowed to teach English or Dutch for example.

You can also dually certify for special ed and a subject because you can't be a special ed teacher without a subject specific concentration.

Welp. It’s my older niece’s birthday. And she got a present of testing positive for covid. She turns 12 and they had planned to get her vaccine, but now they can’t. ☹️ This blows. She woke up with a sore throat.
My sister however is still negative, so maybe the vaccine is doing it’s job for her. FX she doesn’t get it because their dad is no help. 🙄

I just did a big mask order for school. I can't believe Lue is starting kindergarten either!! It's going to be so weird with C and L in school full time and A in school most mornings. When did these kids get so big! I saw your pictures on FB of all of the grandchildren with your parents, and I couldn't get over how old C looks. Right? SO old!!!
