Dropped off the cat, came to work, got a call from the vet, "Are you sure this is the sick one? She's great!" Apparently she purred through her whole exam, even when having her gut palpated. They are going to do bloodwork and I can pick her up whenever. Test results won't be back until tomorrow.
After work I need to drop off my car for its oil change and inspection and to have the battery looked at because we've had a couple mornings where the first turn of the key had no results. My car is a bitch that likes to eat batteries, so we'll see how she tests.
Then, I guess I need to go get the cat. I would like to nap before meet the teacher, but I have to get the kids supplies gathered up and all that jazz before we head over to the school for that.
I'm tired already.

Morning and happy Friday! Nothing exciting today. H had mentioned driveway beers, so we will see if that happens.
Otherwise, my excitement today will have been taking a shower in my new shower.

I’m exhausted! The puppy has been great and slept from 10-4:30 last night and then from 5-7:30 so I shouldn’t be so tired. I think because it’s been nothing but running around the past few days and coming down from the mental exhaustion of planning. The cats are still hanging upstairs but have ventured out of their room. The puppy is going to be shocked there’s cats here!
Any tips for mouthing? C was letting her out her mouth on his hands and fingers this morning and now she’s doing it to me. I’ve tried ignoring her and moving away but then she barks so I ignore that and she continues barking. I have orientation for dog training tomorrow but figured people her would have advice.
Work/Covid rant ahead
On 9/1 we have an overnight work retreat scheduled that I am planning. The overnight doesn’t bother me because we will have our own rooms but being in meeting spaces with 75 other people does. We will be wearing masks but I am really uncomfortable. On Tuesday we were informed from the DC office that a training was canceled because we should only be doing “mission critical” travel. I don’t believe the retreat is. I emailed my boss because the hotel needs me to sign the contract. He’s on vacation but on email. I never heard back so I followed up with my supervisor today and she talks to him and he says he thinks it’s on but will check with the Chief Judge. He should have done that earlier in the week so I don’t feel like an ass with my late response to the hotel. So I’m annoyed. This was planned when things were improving and we were planning a full back to the office by then. That has been delayed and we don’t even have in person office meetings with our 25 people so it’s ridiculous to put us all together. Sigh. I’m actually hoping the speakers will pull out because I don’t see us canceling otherwise.

A let me sleep until 10. I'm feeling okay except my throat. Feels like I tried to eat pinecones. We're going to get school shoes later and eat dinner. Other than that, just hanging at home.

Hello! I'm at work. It's been a busy day but I only have about 2 hours to go. I'm going to see the kids for a bit tonight so that'll be nice.

I really think it's just a bad cold/sinus junk. I already tested when symptoms were bad and it was negative. I'm on the upswing now. Just have to wait it out.

Hi. Not much happening today. So glad it’s Friday. Going get tacos tonight, so looking forward to that.
The state fair is here. Between school starting this week, this fair, and no mask mandates in schools, I can see this state being the next one in national news with our hospitals here being full, too. I’m just so disappointed in us as a country. Why are we (mostly in the south) at a point where this wave is worst than last year when this was brand new? Why?

wedding Yeah I think they should definitely cancel unless you all can do the meetings outside. Maybe suggest that instead of cancelling it altogether you can postpone it?

wedding according to my aunt, who just got a puppy five weeks ago the biting is a phase, coincidentally she told my kids that last week. Think babies who want to learn the about world by putting everything in their mouths 🤷🏼♀️. And with regards to the Covid thing… I would not be okay that, sorry you have to deal with that.

Hi ladies. I'm zonked. I was up late last night for work. I had a metric shit-ton of assignments come through this week. I've thankfully been productive since I had no other choice and have logged some over time, but I'm so ready for the weekend.
We'll try to get in some extra practice at TKD tonight because the girls have a big belt test tomorrow.

lahdeedah, I hear you on the Covid exasperation. There's no excuse. We have a vaccine now. We shouldn't be doing just as bad as last year. *sigh* I'm shaking my head at all of it. I have no problems rolling back to higher precautions to protect the kids and the immuno-compromised. However, for those who can, but just refuse to get the vaccine...at some point it's sink or swim. I don't know what else to say.

We spent 4 hours at the water park this morning then DH and I relaxed alone on the beach for a bit. He just headed home with the big kids and the dog. I’m cleaning up and waiting for C to wake up then I will head home with the little boys.
Tomorrow my oldest turns 14! It feels like yesterday and 100 years ago at the same time. We didn’t really have plans because he already went to a concert and got a new phone but today he asked if his cousins and grandparents are coming over like usual for his birthday so now I’m racing home tonight to throw that together for tomorrow.

We have been having such crap weather here all summer. Either ridiculously hot or raining. By the end of the day I have them err-ing on the side of cancelling but they are talking to the Judge more on Monday. 🤞.

It’s so hot today and when I take Lola out she runs right back to the door. Unfortunately that has caused her to pee in the house twice today but I can’t blame her really. At least she pooped outside! lahdeedah the amount of events still taking place astounds me. Even here where we have been pretty safe. It’s like people think if we ignore it it will go away. The epidemiologist we consult with said they are seeing long symptoms from people up to six months later even if they had a mild case. This delta variant is a bitch!

We haven't received official word from the kids school yet but I'm wondering if any of your schools are requiring outdoor masking? They did last year bc the kids couldn't keep their distance at recesss, gym, etc. I have a feeling they may not encourage that this year but I feel like it made a big difference last year and this variant is so much more contagious for the unvaccinated. Sorry for the word vomit ...

Sorry for the word vomit ... I don't think it's required outside for us this year, but I think encouraged. What's your school doing for lunch? Our PTA is pushing for an outdoor lunch and asking for volunteers to help supervise once a month. Otherwise it is indoors in the cafeteria pre-covid style...which sounds like a daily super spreader situation and a hard pass for me.

Our school secretary joined the incoming kindergarten Facebook group. She said a mailer is going out on Monday. Hopefully will know more at that point. Last year they are in their classrooms (and they showed videos like storybots to discourage talking), and a few times Josie's teacher took them outside. I don't know what they'll do this year because K through five eats at the same time.

Sorry for the word vomit ... Schools in the south still have optional masking inside, so lol to requiring it outdoors for us. Even last year they only had school mask mandates for inside. It truly makes me glad when someone on the board says their school will require masks. I have relief for you parents even though it will have to get bad for my kid before anything is mandated. 😞

I'm watching The Kissing Booth 3 and clearly I was sleeping during 2 because there's a semi-main character I don't remember at all. There's a lot of first world problems, but it's good for the background.

I think the girls get a mask break during recess but I think they have to stay with their class in a designated area. Their school doesn't have a cafeteria. They've always eaten lunch in the classroom. I always thought this was weird, but in the pandemic it works well.

Ours have to mask outside as well but have distanced mask breaks. They haven’t said about lunch but I’m guessing we will be eating in the classrooms again.

It was sooooo long -- like I seriously thought it was going to end about 6 times.
