Makes sense. Crazy how testing has gotten so hard to find lately. You are vaxxed, right? I'm not. A and I are doing our first a week apart this week and next. I didn't do it immediately because they were scarce and I work from home. Then I just kept forgetting to make an appointment. Now we don't need them. So I'll be getting my first Thursday this week. You should be able to get anywhere these days, CVS/Costco etc. If you need help finding a place, lmk and we can help find a place. Most of us have had ours, so let us know if you have any questions.

I'm getting it at my grocery store pharmacy. I'm spacing us a week apart and doing it on Thursday since A is off most friday-sunday. So of we have any reactions we'll have back up from the other parent and he'll be off work. My mom had none so I'm hopeful that'll be us.

wineallthetime how has the weekend been with the kids? How’s they adjust to the first transition between houses? How are you feeling? Hi! We have had a fun weekend and they're doing great adjusting! I'm feeling really good. It's such a relief not living together anymore. I didn't realize how much it was totally draining me. Thanks for asking! I can’t like this enough. So happy for you.

Hi ladies. Slow Sunday morning over here. My friend texted me asking if I wanted an impromptu lunch together and my h said go, so I went. (sounds like I need to get permission, which is not the case, but we do run thing by each other, especially if it leaves the other with three kids 😜) I was nice, we chat, complain about COVID, gossip about our h’s, which are both really sweet men in general, but even those can get it really wrong sometimes 😂 and talk shop we studied together so it’s nice run stories/study’s/cases by each other .

The wedding was fun...too much fun. Im paying for it today. We didn't get home until 11:30. Pretty sure I drank my weight in wine and beer. But we are selling evie's little trampoline today, so we had to go outside and take it apart, so I sweat a lot of it out!
I need to get some groceries today. Other than that, just relax and drink a shit load of water.

wedding, do you know anything cats with allergies? We're seeing the vet about it for our new guy but I'd love to hear your take on it (when you have time) What symptoms? If it’s sneezing and eye watering it’s most likely a respiratory virus, which is super common for cats coming for places with other cats. It’s basically a cold so unless it turns into an infection it’s green/yellow eye or nose discharge then it will go away without meds. It’s not a bad idea to get Lysine powder to mix with food or treats to help boost the immune system. Both will be at pet stores, vets, and Amazon. Cats can have skin allergies but it’s not super common. More often than not a skin lesion is either a reaction to fleas or a behavioral over grooming. Some cats can be so allergic to fleas that one flea can cause a lesion. To check for fleas use a fine toothed comp and comb down the the skin. Lay a damp paper towel down and after brushing tap the comb on it with the bristles facing down. If you see black specs that turn a reddish brown on the wet paper towel, that is flea poop. It’s much easier to find flea dirt (poop) than an actual flea. If you find this get her a dose of Frontline. You shouldn’t need more than that but if the lesion doesn’t heal she should see the Dr about a topical steroid. If you are seeing hair thinning or lesions on the belly or forearms keep an eye on her. She could be over grooming which is a stress reaction. Max started doing it when we got a dog. He ended up needing anxiety meds. That’s probably more info than you needed. Keep me updated

peachsmama I’m glad you are getting vaccinated! We had a hard time finding tests for Covid here as well. I’m actually going to write to the Dept of Health because it seems like it’s time to open more sites. It’s scary how quickly it’s spreading.

Keep me updated You are the best! He has been chewing his fur so badly he's bald in patches. He had little bumps under his skin there. The vet is being very conservative. First she did a cortisone shot (which didn't do anything) and and wants to rule out old fleas (she started us on revolution plus) and then wants to do a food elimination diet starting this coming week, but I really don't believe that's the issue. She doesn't want to start Prozac without these two ideas out of the way, but I know his issue is the other cat. Kitty isnt mean to him but he has a very "don't bother me" attitude and will bat at him if he's too close when they're walking around. We have so many toys and other things to try and keep him stimulated (and the kids play with him, too) but it's not the same as another cat. How did Max do on the meds?

I honestly would not have thought he was anxious at all since his only symptom was the over grooming. Once we got him on it took a few weeks but he stopped chewing. It could be food related so you can try the isolated protein diets. Is he chewing just his legs and belly or does he chew his tail or seem itchy? Over grooming typically occurs in the front legs and belly.

Over grooming typically occurs in the front legs and belly. I'm nervous bc we don't feed them on demand and I'm afraid kitty (the older guy) won't eat when necessary and then the little cat will eat his food. He's down to 6 pounds so he needs the food!! He didn't over groom like this when we had him in isolation for 3 weeks, so it leads me to believe it's kitty. It's the area above his tail and one whole side of his body. ETA: I think I just want a quick solution bc I don't want the little guy to be so worked up. You would never know he was anxious otherwise. I know the food study can take between 1-3 months, and I'd hate to cause him more stress if it's really just kittys apathy toward him.

Hi ladies. I was so tired last night I passed out early. We did a run through of the new physical fitness test. It's a cluster. But I passed. I know they'll have to make it much easier and adjust the standards. I'm getting ready to fail a hearing test. It's been a week. My mom is having major medical issues. She finally (after 3 months of being very ill) got multiple tests and labs done this week. Luckily it looks like she's been cleared for some of the most concerning stuff, but still needs to figure out what's wrong with her and get a tx plan going. That was a huge relief. She also told me that she put down her two cats. They are my cat's brothers. I knew one of them was in decline and didn't have much longer. I've never been super attached to him, but the other, Boston, was my boy. I initially adopted him with Denver and he was with me for 8 years. He was a big, dumb, loveable tough guy who was a total mama's boy and loved to be cradled and get nuzzles from me. He ended up moving to my mom's when he kept having bad pee behaviors in the house. My parents have a huge yard and he adjusted really well to being an outdoor cat. He would give me lots of lovies every time I visited and rub against the phone when I talked to him. He was a great health so I wasn't expecting him to go, but apparently he declined fast. He was 17 so he lived a nice long life, but I really, really wish my mom would have told me because I would have drove down to be there with him when he went. I'll never tell her this because I know she was just doing what she thoughts was right. Bad, bad Boston Brown was the baddest cat in the whole damn town. I'll miss that furry, loud-purring boy.

Hey. Dh had soccer this morning and then I ran a couple errands after he got home. He’s finally working on putting the lattice up on my front porch. It’s super humid out so I came inside, the kids are playing with a little girl down the street. I was cleaning up underneath my bed so I could store some things under there and there must be a ton of dust mites because my allergies are killing me. My eyes hurt so bad.

I’m sorry for your losses inthekitty. I hope your mom figured out what’s going on with her. Happy birthday to B jewels. How did the party go? guster those seem like odd spots for over grooming. Is there a space your old guy could access his food on demand that the new one can’t get to? For instance if you have a fat cat and a small one you can create a house over the food that fatty can’t fit into. I hate food trials but if you are able to do it and be strict with it, you should see some improvement in a few weeks in my experience.

guster if it is a stress issue you could try pheromone therapy. Feliway makes plug ins or calming collars. When our boys were fighting I put the collar on one of them and it seemed to neutralize the issues between them a bit.

Thanks for the idea-- we have been used the feliway diffuser but I didn't know they made a collar. The new guy doesn't have a specific place he hangs out yet so I don't know if the diffuser on the first level is helping him. A collar is a smart next step. Thanks!!

Vent ahead
I called my mother to get the name of their attorney, since my mom's eyesight has gotten so bad that she can't find the documents that I need. Guess where she is. THE ER. WTF? She had to call 911 and neither her or my dad fucking called to tell us. She's dizzy, light headed and was running into the walls. She couldn't do the laundry so she told my dad she though she needed to call 911. They did a CT scan and that was normal. The blood work they've run so far has come back normal. They'll do an MRI tonight.
I called and spoke to the nurse and she said my mom told her she's been falling a lot. She's never told us that.

Thats so frustrating tgrimes. I've had to have that talk with SMIL because they don't let us know medical issues until they're in the hospital. She always says they don't want to worry us, but I told her that we love them and worry about them and they would want to know of it was us. This being said the week after FIL ended up in the hospital after headaches for 2 weeks and finding hematoma on his brain. Parents are so frustrating!
