I finally tried some different NA beers. Lagunitas IPNA and Upside Dawn from Athletic Brewing Company. I thought the Lagunitas was gross but the upside dawn is pretty good! I think I’ll try their “IPA” next. The liquor store around the corner started carrying the Athletic Brewing ones. I've been keeping them stocked in my fridge for the days when I want to relax with a "beer" after work. I also tried a new brand - Well Being - over the weekend which was also really good. We really like the Well Being brand over here. I think of all the brands we have tried it’s our favorite.

I shared this with my H last night.
When I was having wine every night, I used to tell myself I needed that wine to fall asleep. Then get shitty sleep.
Now, 25 days without it, I'm sleeping better than ever. I naturally fall asleep around 1030 and I'm waking up earlier at 630-7am, no alarms! The UO on being a morning person reminded me of this.

That is awesome! Alcohol definitely fucks up my sleep. I didn't even realize how much until I started taking these long breaks from it.

How is everyone doing this month? I have been pleasantly surprised at this process. I was initially hesitant to stop over the summer, but TAE approach of exploring my relationship with drinking has allowed me to address the cognitive dissonance and not rely on will power. Lots of bubbly water, the occasional tonic or non-alcoholic beer.

We went to a wedding this weekend and neither of us drank. We did take some THC but honestly that was more to have fun because we were away from our kid - we could have gone without that and still had a good time. We had no issues navigating the events without alcohol and I only had to turn down an offer to get shots once (and even when I drank I hated shots so I was super happy to easily say no thanks). I did notice that a lot of my friends have cut way back on drinking. It’s interesting to see how everyone handles it. But most of the friends I was with said they hate how they feel the next day even after one drink so they hardly drink anymore. We all got up and met for a hike in the morning the day of the wedding even after going out the night before - something we never would have done in our partying days. And today after the wedding we were at breakfast by 9 am.
I’m glad I have very clear eyed memories of the wedding and the reception to hold with me.

I’ve been doing ok. It’s been a tough month, came back from our vacation to find some issues with the house that need a lot of moving cleaning out and ventilation. I was really upset — have spent now every weekend basically just throwing shit away and sorting and packing. And I had planned to relax, cook nice dinners, read some books. So In The evenings after the big weekend work sessions DH and I have had a glass of wine or two and it’s been quite nice. I don’t feel like it at all during the week, and I may cut this out when I’m not feeling so frayed.

Today is 2 weeks alcohol free after my vacation time break from my break. It's become routine again to not drink. I'm happy not drinking 😁

How is everyone doing this month? I’m doing ok. I had two beer with lunch this past weekend because we had been picking at a farm with no shade it was so so hot and a cold beer was exactly what hit the spot. I was super tired the rest of the day and was like huh it tasted good but now I’m zonked tired. So about two drinks this month I think? Not bad. I still haven’t had it in the house for almost four months. That is a big difference. A few times I’ve thought huh a cosmo would be great right now or a cold seltzer etc but not having it here takes that away. I wouldn’t go out just to get it. I sleep so much better I wouldn’t have beloved it if I hadn’t stopped. I’m regularly up at 630/645 where before I’d be annoyed when dh was making noise getting ready. It’s just all so much better. No more plans this month just getting ready to go back to school and work so likely no more celebrations or things like that. One or two I feel it now where as before that would be nothing at all. I hope you are doing well flightview and everyone else in this thread. 🌸

Hope you can get it resolved soon.

Tomorrow’s 30 days but, since it’s more of a permanent choice (because of H being in recovery) I find myself not really counting days anymore but I have an app with both our sobriety dates. He’s at 45 days now. Overall, more energy to do things and the weight loss is a plus, but I’ve been eating better (and less!) while working out 2-3 times a week. We’ve been cooking at home instead of going out or ordering delivery so saving money there too! When I first started I had a lot of food cravings and ate a lot but that phased out, the tiredness has passed now too. I need to work on a consistent wake up time because if I get a lot of sleep one night, I can’t fall asleep the next.
