I don’t think vaxxing will ever get mandatory her. We do have a digital passport that is required for travel and to entry events where distance cannot be guaranteed. It shows either that you have been fully vaccinated for over two weeks or that you’ve had a negative test in the last 24 hours.
ETA our estimate vax-rate in the end is around 80-85%, so that should be sufficient.

Disgusting question: Tagging wedding. We have fleas (ew, David!). I want to try to get rid of the little fuckers naturally. I haven't actually seen any in the house or on the pets, but we have bites so I'm sure they're there. Google told me to cover the carpet and furniture with salt and baking soda. That's done and we'll leave it for a couple hours before vacuuming. We gave medicinal tx to the cat and dog. We're washing blankets and bedding. Any other suggestions? I want to evict these a-holes ASAP.

Hey. I woke up with very sore teeth. All the soft foods for me today. Girls had swimming lessons this morning and H had her testing. She passed level 2 with flying colors. The wind is bringing the smoke from Canada down here so it’s hazy and smells like smoke outside. Hopefully this doesn’t last too long. The guy is finally coming to power wash our deck this afternoon. Then this evening I have to work. The school here put out a draft plan for the school year the other day. Masks are optional at the school but “expected” (which basically means required) on the buses. They’re loosing up a lot of the other measures they put into place for last year too. I’m annoyed. They did have a response form so I sent my opinion in. We have so many anti-maskers/vaxxers here though so I doubt it will change much. jewels I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time with this decision. My opinion is that if the teachers think he’s ready I would send him to K. Worst case scenario is he takes K over again next year.

trtlcrzy, Yay for H! Ugh to the forest fires. I hate that hazy air--hope it passes quickly. jewels, I second trtlcrzy. I'm sorry it's been such a tough decision. If he goes to K and doesn't do well he can repeat. Most of the Ks around here are easier than preschool. The model basically assumes the kids are brand new to school and have never had preschool so everyone is on an even playing field. If it's similar to where you are, even with his immaturity, he'd probably adjust well. Good luck whatever you decide.

I just got off the phone with his teacher. She is sort of mixed about it too. She was his teacher last summer, then left to teach K and is back in PreK this year. She is really just focused on how much he's changed in the past year. Which is great. But he was so far behind... like is it enough? Or is it just b/c hes grown so much compared to where he was???
Ugh. I should just flip a coin lol

I'm more concerned about this decision b/c the principal of our elementary said they will almost never hold someone back. He is against it, even in kids that young. So basically what I decide now will be the decision for the rest of his schooling, unless I really fight to hold him back. I'm not worried academically at all. He's got that. But literally, he acts like a 3.5 year old. He's gonna be 5 next week!! And he still craps his pants on the regular.

jewels I think I’d lean towards keeping him ‘back’, if the teacher is wonderful and they can keep him stimulated there’s a lot to gain. Not saying this would happen of course, but over here, you often see kids that transferred to first grade to soon and they constantly have to be on the top of their toes to keep up. After the weird ass year we’ve all had, maybe an extra year would make him stronger and more socially adapt.

jewels, that's got to be so frustrating for you on the PT front. My little brother was very immature as well and also crapped his pants frequently prior to K. For whatever reason he didn't care about it in preschool, but it clicked in K. Hopefully it'll be the same with your dude whenever he goes. The Ks around here aren't just easy academically, also socially. The social expectations basically assume the child has had no formal schooling. They also basically never hold kids back, but in the end if he meets the age requirements I don't think you can go wrong either way. It's tough with the late birthday. Someone has to be the youngest and most immature. *sigh* I waffle on it, so I can totally see both sides for you. But ultimately if he struggles and they identify a diagnosable reason for it they can get him on an IEP.

We now have referrals for ophthalmology, endocrinology, developmental pediatrician, immunology, an ultrasound of his kidneys, x-rays of his spine and she thinks I should request an ARD meeting when school starts back up.
We did some lab work before we left the hospital that our old immunologist ordered after the geneticist reached out to him last week. She was pissed he never reached out to me or even messaged me that he put in lab orders. So she game me the names of 2 other doctors that I can see in that department.

jewels Y'all have been seeing a developmental pedi right? I may need to bounce some questions off you. The waitlist for anyone at TCH is 18 months. I can either pay out of pocket ($1000+) or attempt someone outside of TCH, which is the route I'm headed.

Keep the dog on prevention year round and the cat to if outdoors. If not just do his first a couple of months. You should be fine.

So football is having their parents open house tonight to ask questions and turn in paperwork. I have everything- medical clearance, report card, waivers, a current pic, etc. on Saturday we got an email saying Dicks was offering 20% off for the league that weekend. I was emailing with the president of Pop Warner in our town and got a short list of what we need and bought it. The season starts on Monday and C is beyond excited.
This morning I get a call from the president saying they only had 4 kids sign up in his age group so they aren’t having an 8U team. He missed the cutoff for the next age group by two months and they can’t slip him in due to insurance. I am so beyond pissed and sad. They had to have known they have so few kids and could have warned us. They have sent league wide emails about having lots of registrations and it will be a great season. They should have said lots except for 8U. Now we have to crush his heart and tell him there’s no team. He has been talking about this for months and walked around in cleats, a mouth guard, and his athletic cup all day Sunday to get comfortable.
I did find another league the next town over but it’s more practices and I’m worried about exhausting him. Dh snd I are going to talk about it tonight and see if we should offer that to him.
Tl;dr they canceled tackle football last minute and C will be devastated.

Ugh that sucks so bad for C. wedding I can’t believe the president of the league was emailing you what was needed and didn’t think to say- hey hold off until we make sure we have enough kids. Can he do another year of flag? I would try to sell him on getting another practice year in before tackle so he can be more ready. You are rightfully pissed. Can’t believe they waited to let you know 4 days before the start.

I was thinking about enrolling M in flag football when I saw there is a team here, then the variant is taking over and I’m like- nah we cool. Don’t need another reason to be quarantining.
I may but both boys in karate just for the fall. On the FB of one of the places here has pictures with the kids in masks, so as long as they require it, we would be okay.

If so I would do that Vs karate inside. I would like to offer c the choice to do flag with his town or tackle in the other town but knowing he won’t have time most days of the week to play on his iPad and stuff. That it would be home, shower, bed. Practice is three nights a week until 8pm🙁

Both kids are (possibly and possibly not bc if the variant) going back to taekwondo in the fall, but a new studio opened up so I thought it would give them a ring just to see if their prices were comparable or if they had any specials. The instructor (who owns the place) was so nice and said all the right things until he told me that he had a parent in the night before touring the place and she was so happy that they didn't require masks. He seem to think that that was a selling point. Nope nope nope, not for us!

jewels, it's such a hard decision. How will he do with transition if the elem quarantines? I think it's a possibility this year, so I might factor that and all the COVID protocols into my decision.

I’m not saying one over the other is better, just that one option makes me feel better when I think about the option. I think a mask has become my “security blanket” even though I know a mask is to protect others from me. 😕

He saw a Therapist for a bit but he was charming and exhibited none of his issues. And then I had him evaluated. I’m on a waitlist for a developmental pedi but it’ll probably be next year before he gets in

I have no idea how nj plans to handle that since the governor has said no remote learning. That’s an interesting thought

In Connecticut we haven't talked about what will happen yet either if students have to quarantine -- if it will be asynchronous or synchronous with the teacher in the classroom but I could see that factoring into my decision if I had a child on the cusp of the eligibility date.

That’s super frustrating wedding. Does he have any friends that would qualify to be in 8U that would sign up? I don’t know if I could commit to that many practices a week at this age.
