Morning.
I’m at work a half day. MH and I trading off again today. He’ll go to work when I get home. I have a laser appt late this evening, but other than that. I got nothing.
My SIL is having to pick up my niece today because of exposure at the school camp.

Yesterday S BFF picked him up to take to baseball so I didn't have to take B with us (it's till 7:45 and they often want to hang out and play for a bit after so we don't get home till after 8 most times). Anyway, he was dropped off and we had like 2 minutes to chat before bed when he told me someone from aftercare was positive and 3 kids were quarantining. Thankfully he had some misinformation - 3 kids from aftercare are quarantining b/c someone in their regular pod (who S does not come in contact with) is positive.
Still hitting close to home. I feel like it's last year all over again. The debates are starting up in my town already about school next year and I'm just so afraid for a shitty year.
And beyond scared that they will get sick, I'm not looking forward to the inevitable quarantine situation where I have to work from home with both kids and not go anywhere for 2 weeks... with MH away. That sounds not delightful.

See lahdeedah is proving my point. Everyone is suddenly exposed. I feel like most of our kids were at camps/day cares last summer and there was none of this!!

Today is our appt with genetics. Praise be.
M is going on a field trip to the space center today. She was in tears for an hour because her stomach hurt. I think I passed my anxiety down to my kid.

There were also less kids at the camps and most of the parents were still being cautious. I feel like a lot of people aren't taking the same precautions these days.

It's just the anticipation.

As soon as our mask mandate came off, so did the masks. It didn't matter if you were vaxxed or not, no one was wearing masks. No one cared if a sign said only vaxxed peeps can come in without a mask. There's no way to check. You can't make people show you their immunization card just to buy a coffee. Then everyone acted surprised when numbers shot right back up and here we are back in Stage 4 and no one is willing to admit it's because their dumbasses took their masks off. Currently they are saying its our choice whether we wear masks or make our kids wear masks, but it really isn't. Our choices are being made by the freaking anti-vaxers who think they are going to be tracked by something in the damn shot. No one wants to track your ass! Sry, rant over. I'm not having the best morning....

klong11 same here, no-one wears masks anymore since the mandate lifted. Nobody is social distancing anymore either… ETA we still do of course.

You all know I have been massively indecisive about if B starts K. I basically have him signed up for both pre-K and K right now, and Monday I Was told I have a deadline of Friday to unenroll in one (the aftercare for K is run by the same people who do his preK so they know he's not doing both lol).
I am stuck. I have literally changed my mind 100 times. I thought I was settled on holding him back but then his current teachers seem to think he can handle K so now I am second guessing myself. I wish someone could tell me exactly what to do. I hate this.

Hi. The situation got worse, two heart valves have already been damaged that much they need to be replaced, open heart surgery is the only option. I’m not sure how this impact their future. I mean they were thinking kids in the near future… he is 36 for pete’s sake.
In other news my uncle admitted to hospital this morning, some sort of virus, they’re giving him fluids and monitoring him…
I bought the kids all sorts of nonsense in order to distract myself and we painted dd’s nursery. I mean you gotta do something and I really wanted my pink nursery.

I think places that don’t mandate masks for school will be a hot mess at the beginning. Our district is still masks optional and I’m not expecting that to change before the start of the year. It may come when everyone has to quarantine because of exposure. I will talk to M and let him know why he is expected to wear a mask even though many in his class may not be. He is hating that he can’t play his neighborhood friends until the weekend at the earliest so I will use that in my talk as well.

Oh nam2013 I'm so sorry. Hope he pulls through surgery okay. Post pix of the nursery color, I bet it's adorable...def a good distraction. jewels - does your h have an opinion? Or S? We floated to N that she's going to a new school for the first time last night and she promptly asked if she could visit her old one, and said she would try it for a day... I'd go with whichever school has better protocols in place. Our new prek requires teachers AND parents, and masks for all..our public schools just require masks. I am much more comfortable with the daycare situation. Good luck, I'm sure he will do great in either.

tgrimes Is it just in the morning that her stomach bothers her? Maybe once she gets there and she knows it’s ok she will feel better. Sorry about the anxiety. nam2013 I’m so sorry. jewels Has the preschool done anything to accommodate the transitional kids? Is there a chance that if he starts and a few months in you want to pull him, will there be a spot for him? Decisions are hard.

I'm full on in the anti-vaxxer rage. The US needs to get it's shit together and create a digital passport (really we could work with other nations and do an international one). It could be as easy as quickly scanning at a kiosk for verification. People act like there's no way we could possibly do this. Yes there is. Yes there will be protests and outrage. Respond to those dipshits the same way they responded to BLM protests (not really, but the point is that we have plenty of "security" around the country to deal with it). Require vaccines for kids 12+ to attend in-person public school or for anyone to enter a government facility. For those who can't be vaxxed yet they need to wear masks. We all had to provide proof of vaccinations to attend public school. They need to quit bending to appeal to the morons. Some will refuse to comply and be weirdos who home school and don't integrate much into society and that's fine. The rest will begrudgingly get with the program. We can tell those assholes the same thing they told us last year, if you're so scared, stay home. No one would technically be forced to vax, they can choose to stay home, but if they want to go into government facilities (including schools) then they have to be vaxxed.

The company I had the call with Tuesday wants to meet in person, so I guess I didn't scare them off too much with the salary. I'm going to call them on lunch. They wanted me to meet Monday at 2:30, but that will be difficult, so I'm going to see if they can meet Friday after we meet with the last building contract, or if we can move the time on Monday, either closer to lunch or later in the day. Mid afternoon is difficult when you have a job!

S comes home and tells me which kids wear them and which kids aren't good about it. Our town has Plan A and Plan B based on how bad it is at the moment. For some reason they are still saying it will be Plan A (masks optional/no dividers, etc.) but Plan B has masks and dividers. There are a number of people in town who are fighting hard against the kids wearing masks. I just don't get it. My kids will be wearing it regardless.

My H has no solid opinion - he's basically of the mindset that he'll support whatever I think ie best. I've asked B what he wants and I don't think he really gets it (part of the immaturity at play I think) That's an interesting thought about the protocals - our PreK still requires masks for all, and as I just posted, I'm unsure what will be in public school

There is a chance that I could pull him for PreK - but they won't hold a spot for him. Right now there are 19 kids in the program, and I think 1 or 2 kids are going to K, so that will be say 17. It maxes at 20, so if they get 3 more enrolled, there would not be a spot for him. Basically the PreK is saying they will meet all kids where they are at and will make sure to stimulate him if he stays. I will say the new teacher in there is fabulous.
