I just watched Athing Mu’s 800 meter run— amazing! Yes! That was amazing. And she looked so graceful, like she was floating through the race.

I just watched Athing Mu’s 800 meter run— amazing! I actually moved my schedule around this morning so I could watch it live lol. I just fell in love with her during the qualifying - she’s such an amazing young athlete and makes it look so easy!

I don’t understand how the runners have to kind of push each other to get into place. It seems so hard to break in. If I’m explaining that correctly, not sure if I’m making sense.

If you haven't seen it already, check out wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock's gold medal match. It was so fun to watch and look for any interviews/bios on her. She is the sweetest thing ever. So spunky and seems so good-hearted and genuine. Yet on the mat she's a beast! I love her.

Watching Today's segment on Jordan Windle, an Olympic diver. Darn if his story, and his father's, doesn't have me crying into my coffee.

Did anyone watch the park skateboarding last night? They all wore helmets and knee pads a la Tony Hawk because they're getting such huge air, so that was nice to see. And it was fun to watch! The young Australian kid who won seemed to be a favorite of all the other skaters, he was literally hugging every single skater there after every run. Very cute.
I love the skate community, it's great. Skaters get a bad rap, they're lovely.

The skateboarding was so cool to see! Did anyone else see one of the skaters take out a cameraperson? Wild! Luckily everyone seemed fine.

Spoiler...
In the men's 4x100 relay the US men failed to advance to the finals. They haven't won in 20 years. Every year there's a dropped baton, someone trips, etc. Same with this year. I was reading an article by Carl Lewis and apparently they didn't practice as a team. They were just told which leg to run and showed up. It's not managed well from coaches end and this is why it's always a disaster.

But yea, they talked about how countries like China know who going to be on the team a year in advance and practice as a team vs the US that had the trials a month ago to pick people and they don't get much practice time together.

Race walking is on. I know I could not do it but the announcer just called some guy the “greatest walker alive” and I’m laughing.
There is so much flopping back and forth in this sport. If you know what I mean.

If you know what I mean. It’s amazing - it’s 50k! That’s over 30 miles 😳. They kind of look like they’re slow jogging to me, though - I’m not really sure what makes it walking.

If you know what I mean. I’m half watching and was giggling at that too. There’s something about the movement and the showing of yellow cards and penalty boxes that cracks me up.

I remember my middle school health teacher was really into race walking, not like, at an Olympic level or anything, but I remember her saying she race walked at better than a 9min/mi pace and I thought that was speedy!
It’s crazy to me that watching it, it looks slow, but they’re actually going at a faster pace than most people can run!

I just googled because I had to know lol. Apparently one foot has to be on the ground at all times and the front leg has to be straight as the other moves past it. You can get penalized or eliminated if you don’t do those things. Even so, some of these guys still look like they’re running to me!

They also have to always have 1 foot on the ground and legs straight for a certain amount of the stride. ETA I see someone beat me to it! Now we are all experts

Awww I wanted to hug Michael Norman when he was being interviewed after not medaling in the 400. It’s gotta be so hard for the athletes to not have their families in the stands for support after events

It’s gotta be so hard for the athletes to not have their families in the stands for support after events Ugh I felt for him, he seemed devastated. Didn't do anymore interviews after that one. He is only 23 though, he can come back in 3 years!
