I feel like every time I turn the Olympics on, it's beach volleyball.

I feel like every time I turn the Olympics on, it's beach volleyball. Oh my gosh, yes. And don't get me wrong, I'll watch anything Olympics, but I'm annoyed they've apparently been showing every game during prime time, but hardly show any of so many other sports or just very limited clips.

I feel like every time I turn the Olympics on, it's beach volleyball. I know! And I was really annoyed and just like, I guess I’ll leave this in until they show some track & field or gymnastics, but then I got invested. It was a nail biter of a set!

I feel like every time I turn the Olympics on, it's beach volleyball. For me, twice it was indoor volleyball - but normally it's beach volleyball. Like right now. Aren't there any other sports? Are they all on Peacock?

Why do these volleyball players hug each other all the time? I thought I caught an analyst saying the clock doesn't start again til the hug is over? Is that right?

i think they're just showing it because it's live
also i have read all the reasons that the bikinis are the preferred uniforms for the women, and ok. but i can see april ross's crack and just why. could they not at least do the brief cut for more coverage?
(and i know yes shaming is bad but i don't want to see constant butt crack and it has nothing to do with anyone's appearance. i stand by it.)

Is that right? its a volleyball thing. all (female at least) volleyball players, indoor and out, do this. for indoor it's six player hugs every 15 seconds. idk. i'm not sure i've ever watched a full men's volleyball match so i can't really speak on it.

I think in beach they have a shot clock essentially? So it gives them more time to rest in between points. In indoor, it is standard practice to huddle after each point. Promotes unity and positivity. Volleyball is such a momentum sport, so you need to keep the team playing together.

gimmeaQ and robotsvswrestlers, thanks. At first I thought it was because the players were so happy or excited, or comforting each other, over a particular play or point. Then after about the millionth set NBC showed me, it started looking like a lot of the hugs were pretty pro forma. But running the clock for more time to rest makes sense, as well as the momentum thing.

So you say encouraging things. If someone did something awesome, you celebrate. More importantly, if someone did something bad/wrong, you support them and tell them to shake it off. You don’t want someone spiraling and the other team to go on a run of several points. So you reset, physically and mentally, before the next point. It sounds dumb but it helps a lot.

I just got to see Jade’s routine. She was amazing. So good. I saw it this morning and was so excited after it. It was clear she would win a medal even though she was the 2nd routine up. I am disappointed they didn't show the bronze medal winners in prime time.

Not sure if it was mentioned here, but I saw an update on the Belarusian Olympian who was forced home early. She was granted a Visa in Poland. 💓

Re: bikini bottoms as long as the athletes aren't forced to wear them and have the choice to wear alternatives that aren't as revealing I don't have a problem with it.
I always think I couldn't stand the thigh rub while doing athletics, but then I look at most of them and realize they don't have that problem like I do. 😂

I’m finally watching the floor final and it’s so good! Jade was amazing but a lot of great performances from some gymnasts I haven’t seen yet - Italy and Japan were two of my favs behind Jade. Their routines were very creative and fun while Jade’s was more athletic.

The Brazilian gymnast who won the silver in AA and gold in vault has a great foot routine too but she stepped out of bounds on one pass. She has had 3 ACL surgeries - I just cannot even imagine.

I'm watching the Today show and they're supposed to have the US womens gymnastics team on shortly. I want someone to cheer me on in life the way Hoda Kotb cheers for them! I noticed her jumping up and down in the stands when MyKayla vaulted the other night. And another reporter said Simone searched her out to wave to her after the beam finals.

{Beam final spoiler}Simone did a double pike dismount--she said that she hadn't done it as a dismount since she was 12.

frantastic I'm watching the Today Show too. I just love this team spirit the US women have shown. Simone stepping back has created something bigger and it's been such a silver lining to this Olympic coverage. She is so amazing and I would love to see her stay involved in gymnastics as an elite coach.

@sweetjane I think Simone would be an amazing coach. You can just see her support and leadership with her teammates.
